HAHA yes! I hate it when people say you're playing too aggressively if your hair breaks, it's just different for every player, and Ray is a beautiful player!
I find the Sibelius intro way too dramatic and too fragmented / choppy. I prefer the violin solo start as a sustained whisper and steadily build up the intensity.
Thanks for sharing this, Ray! I am always amazed by how colorful your sound is. In one piece, it was very soft and sweet, then in another, it quickly switched to full of sorrow and agony. Big shout out to Julio too, I appreciate you two working together to make this video for us!
Your music connects with people, and I think that's what makes you different from just another good violinist. Thank you for sharing the beauty of music
There are so many years of blood, sweat and tears in the making of a video like this! All the practice to get to this level! Wow! A big shout out to all fantastic musicians out there!
y’all why didn’t I know tonic was FREE till now like 😭 just installed it and I already feel inspired to learn a piece or two I’ve heard people play. though reviews say it’s buggy it’s been working fine for me till now but I LOVE the concept and the fact that it’s made by a genuine musician to millions of others. Much love!! ❤️
Ray, you're amazing whether you're playing a concert, playing with someone in a restaurant or airport, or playing for a cartoon. It's fun to watch you so effortlessly knock out these incredible pieces.
Dude, you and Julio rock!!! I still remember sitting front row at a recital you gave at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego in 2015. Best classical concert ever!!
The Bach partita Prelude is one of my favorite pieces and discovering the Preludio - Ysaye for the first time was incredible! Loved it, thanks for doing this!
In a master artist’s hands, like your’s, Ray, I love that the violin can be both brightly evocative and hauntingly retrospective at the same time. The emotional depths of each expression are like the great storytellers of history. I can feel my heart beat slow or the sublime rush of anticipation with each movement of the bow. ❤
Music on string instruments FASCINATES me, but the Violin is MY FAVORITE. The way you interpret each melody makes my life more happy. My patients really like it, they relax and feel HAPPY. Thank you for every video you share here Infinite Blessings 🙏
I just love watching you play because your facial expressions always reflect the emotions you feel in each piece. There is no doubt that you love what you do……..And your playing isn’t to shabby either. 😊 Bravo!
Btw, the intro to the 1st mvt of the Saint-Saëns is totally badass as well. (not as much technically, but emotionally). It manages to get to a "peak" moment before even leaving the G string.
Congratulations Ray and of course Julio Elizalde who has played with you all these years.... even during your early years as a solo concert violinist. Hats off to the two of you. Keep going!!!
There are tons of concerts and videos out there, but this one really showcases the amazing chemistry between Ray and Julio in an impactful way! It's the best! I love the breath of the two of you playing together! 🥹💖
you are such a great violinist, not only is your playing literally music to my ears, but also your facial expressions are extremely entertaining as well- you look like your'e having a great time, i wish i look so happy when im practicing lol
My face after hearing the very first note and the last one was inforgetable like that blew my mind (i’ve been playing violin for 4 yrs and that got me.)
honestly feeling very proud that ive learnt a good couple of these during my violin-learning days... as i'm studying abroad i havent been able to practice in a very long time but i really dont think i'll ever forget lol. it'll stay with me
As a transgender woman from England now living in Florence Oregon USA, after studying years ago at the Royal colleges in London I pulled out of the orchestral scene and took my playing into the churches in the US. But while living in Oklahoma for some 29+ years, I discovered my tried self, I got basically kicked out of the churches and took to the streets instead. Seven years ago I moved to the ONW coast, Florence Oregon. I love it here and often perform inside and outside to the public. A piece I ha Ave always wanted to play is Zigeunerweisen. I love this work. If your could ever show a way of how to speed up playing the fast section and also the very first run of the work, I would really appreciate that. Thank you! Mrs Robbie Dee Smith
I love your creativity. You inspire the young generation to have fun with classical music.🥰The transitions between songs are amazing, I've never seen a compilation like this before. I went to two of your concerts in Germany and Cologne. We are waiting for you in Poland!❤❤
The opening for Paganini 24 is a very catchy bit, I’m still trying to do it. If I practice really hard for another 1000 years, I still won’t be able to do it as well as you. Ray Chen ROCKS!
Oh Ray, I love the passion and intensity that exude from your face when you play. Just amazing. I hope I can hear you playing live in a concert hall one day.
Bravo, I'm familiar with all of those, but the Paganini part is just from another world....Thank you!!!! I keep myself motivated just doing violin test!!! I have around 30 and keep growing....I do appreciate taking your time to do this videos...LV
Omg, just got tix to your June 7 th Violin recital in HK. Can’t wait to listen to you playing the Dance of the goblins. Am bringing my two boys along, as they are deeply inspired by you! Thanks for uploading interesting RUclips videos. You are making an impact!
I can't play any musical instruments. It's my biggest frustration. That's why I rejoice listening to you, great guys 👏👏👏👏 Thank you soooo much for this 💕💜💕
You are so gifted Sir. My deepest admiration to you. It is incredible how you master so much complicated and difficult to perform musical masterpieces.
I do not play the violin, but my mom did. I recognized 14 of them that were ones she played. Another one I recognized as it is one a favorite Leahy recording- Cape Breton fiddler. The other 4 from albums my mom listened to frequently.
Halfway through I suddenly got the same feeling I get when listening to The Beatles "LOVE" CD, a compilation of Beatles tunes transitioned and mixed by Giles Martin, George Martin's son. Smooth segues, classic music, you have to love it. Nice job maestro Chen!
Trying to remember the sequence of playing all these famous song introductions is probably more difficult than playing the actual pieces☺️! You did have a good memory!! You have to co-ordinate with the pianist too. He has to remember when to come in too to join you.
The way he plays the violin is like telling a story, and this video makes me curious about the body and the ending of those stories 😂. And I don't know why but my heart suddenly felt warm when I saw him wiping the sweat at the end of the video. I don't know if one day I will be able to hear him play violin in person, but I will be very happy if that day comes. ❤
here's my results: "I didn't know the piece": 1 (Wieniawski) "I should have recognized it but I didn't": 5 "I recognized it": 14 Monti: I thought Ravel Tzigane (Shame) Bach: I didnt understand that Ysaye was finished Bruch: I am so ashamed by this... I thought Beethoven 3rd Bazzini: I know the tune, I never ever remember author nor title SaintSaens: simply didnt come to mind (time pressure is terrible, it makes you say stupid things...) I give myself a generous 7 out of 10 but I deeply disappointed myself Anyways: very nice quiz video! I love the fact that you proposed the same piece two non-consecutive times to trick players! well done!

Yo my orchestra is going on tour in April and is gonna be at your concert in Seattle I'm super exited!
Man I would really love if u do a reaction video to roman Kim's violin pieces
Hey Ray, could you please make a video of your favorite violin pieces, top 20? curious to know your favorites!
Go easy on the bow! They want to live, I mean play, too! :D Great video, as usual.
Accidentally uploaded a potato quality draft version yesterday 💀 HENCE WHY SOME OF YOU EARLY BIRDS HAVE ALREADY SEEN IT
Thank you again😉for such a wonderful performance 👏👏👏👏
Yep
No problem.❤❤
hehehe 🤭
I was like ehh Ray don’t usually just post it anyway It’s Ray who care lol
Ray is not himself without breaking a bow hair in the first few seconds of playing lol. Marvelous playing from both musicians! :)
HAHA yes! I hate it when people say you're playing too aggressively if your hair breaks, it's just different for every player, and Ray is a beautiful player!
I love how the transitions between each piece is so smooth and almost seamless
15 to 16 was hilarious 😂
I really enjoy every album of yours on YT music, as well as this wonderful performance.
Thank you so much! I will treat myself to ice cream tomorrow🍦
😮
Ray has mastered the violin...and the facial expressions to perfection.😅
Especially the eyebrows
Can proudly say after going to twoset uni, I recognized 15 pieces/movements! Thanks so much for this fun "arrangement" of all these pieces together!
Did anyone notice a bird fly over when he played Spring by Beethoven? How fitting!
3:54 MY JOY WHEN I HEARD THIS!!! Love this intro so so so much!!
2:22 Thank God, I was waiting for that the whole video 😅
me too! that loose bow hair was driving me crazy!😂 (although I was actually hoping it was going to be the Sibelius. but that was the very next one!)
Same here… ocd kicked in i guess😂😂😂
I find the Sibelius intro way too dramatic and too fragmented / choppy. I prefer the violin solo start as a sustained whisper and steadily build up the intensity.
@@MachaLatte123he meant the part ray removed the snapped bow hair lol
The transition from Csardas to Chaconne was SMOOTHHH
Thanks for sharing this, Ray! I am always amazed by how colorful your sound is. In one piece, it was very soft and sweet, then in another, it quickly switched to full of sorrow and agony. Big shout out to Julio too, I appreciate you two working together to make this video for us!

Yes...like Coca Cola.

Pagannini, Vivaldi and Beethoven for me. All were fabulous. I love your passion and the emotion you bring to your playing.
There are so many years of blood, sweat and tears in the making of a video like this! All the practice to get to this level! Wow! A big shout out to all fantastic musicians out there!

Ray, you're amazing whether you're playing a concert, playing with someone in a restaurant or airport, or playing for a cartoon. It's fun to watch you so effortlessly knock out these incredible pieces.
Wish there’s full versions of each piece!! Didn’t want him to stop and switch! Love the passionate playing. Thank you!
It's unbelievable to me how Ray changes at such a speed. The transitions are incredibly well done. An absolute pleasure with Julio 🎶🎻❤️🎹🎶
so proud of myself because I recognized them all. I don't play an instrument but, I love classical music.
Love ur trills, harmonics, and that left hand pizz like it took me a while to realise it was your left hand like that is powerful.
Love this player, brilliant, with a sense of fun.
Absolutely breathtaking. Amazing job musicians!
I don’t play violin but I know almost all of these pieces from twoset
So do I, although I have saved recordings of Ray playing a lot of them.
Those transitions are very satisfying
Music on string instruments FASCINATES me, but the Violin is MY FAVORITE. The way you interpret each melody makes my life more happy. My patients really like it, they relax and feel HAPPY. Thank you for every video you share here Infinite Blessings 🙏
0:12 the hair bow give up on it life Ray is too powerful !
Thank you for playing so beautifully. I am not a musical person but I was emotional along with you and the pianist.
I just love watching you play because your facial expressions always reflect the emotions you feel in each piece. There is no doubt that you love what you do……..And your playing isn’t to shabby either. 😊 Bravo!
❤❤❤❤❤
Wonderful compilations and how beautifully Ray had played each pieces. It felt like a story had been told by different composer.
Great video! Some minor corrections: 3:05 (No 11) is the 3rd movement, not the 1st and at 4:35 No 16 and No 17 are swapped around :)
Now they gotta reupload again...16 and 17 wasn't swapped in the previous upload how did that happen?
Btw, the intro to the 1st mvt of the Saint-Saëns is totally badass as well. (not as much technically, but emotionally). It manages to get to a "peak" moment before even leaving the G string.
That's okay Ray. It is always amazing and very entertaining to watch you play so beautifully!!! Your music is full of emotions.
Congratulations Ray and of course Julio Elizalde who has played with you all these years.... even during your early years as a solo concert violinist. Hats off to the two of you. Keep going!!!
Your facial expressions and the way fou feel what you're playing is what makes the music even more palpable ❤
The transition is sooo smooth the connection is perfect
This video was just Ray riding a emotional rollor coaster:) Wonderful job to both musicians! I recognize all but no.18.
There are tons of concerts and videos out there, but this one really showcases the amazing chemistry between Ray and Julio in an impactful way! It's the best!
I love the breath of the two of you playing together! 🥹💖
Love the way Ray's demeanour changes as he gets into the emotion of each piece. No wonder it was exhausting. Fantastic performance.
An amazing collection of violin pieces played by one of the most amazing violinists of our time. ❤❤❤
I know all except No.3 on this list.
Every piece is so beautifully connected. Love all of them ❤.
He makes his instrument sing.......so beautiful!
you are such a great violinist, not only is your playing literally music to my ears, but also your facial expressions are extremely entertaining as well- you look like your'e having a great time, i wish i look so happy when im practicing lol
Master Class of the all-time classics. Keep up the great work bringing class , talent and style to this wonderful art.
So smooth for each transaction ❤ and Ray always so passionate for his music

Recognised them all. Played do beautifully that I wept ❤
I play youtube music in my background when I work on other tasks. When I heard this, I have to take a look. It's so good.
❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful! And what a delight to hear you play these!
Ray is the most creative violinist on our planet 😮
I hope to one day be 1/1000 this good... so emotional!!!
My face after hearing the very first note and the last one was inforgetable like that blew my mind (i’ve been playing violin for 4 yrs and that got me.)
The horse hairs are flying everywhere.Such great play.
Minor corrections:
3:07 is actually the third movement, and I'm pretty sure the order of Ysaye and Bach were reversed at 4:35 😅
honestly feeling very proud that ive learnt a good couple of these during my violin-learning days... as i'm studying abroad i havent been able to practice in a very long time but i really dont think i'll ever forget lol. it'll stay with me

Fantastic violin. And, credits to the pianist too!
¡You are a Rock Star Ray Chen! No... you are way way better any rock star I have ever experienced. I am blown away by your brilliance.
On ya Ray. That's a lot of fun. I'm familiar with all of those intros and have even played some. The Spring sonata is a favourite.
That was ridiculously good.

Just look at that smile on his face....
Absolutely amazing! I'd love to hear each of these in full. I'm hoping one day I'll get to see you live in concert, if you come to London again!
this is exactly what i wanted.
cause i generally only know the beginning of pieces and dont know the name. Thanks for listing them 😀

Amazing, I’ll attempt these pieces 🙏
6/8、好喜歡陳銳的提琴演奏,太厲害了,好好聽,貝多芬的提琴奏鳴曲,春,好聽,好好聽
Once again reminded of how much I love csardas
Just wanted to say I heard a recording of you playing with my uncle- Daniel Harding as he was conductor of the Swedish radio symphony orchestra
Your Csardas Ray is absolutely amazing! Sounds like a French Cafe experience. Love it!
2:25, the moment I was finally relieved !! 😂 Couldn't take my eyes off of that hair bow until then.
Every interpretation was beautifully played 👏👏
