ever since I joined the military and left Hawaii right after a high school. my grandmother was one of the most influential people in my life growing up. I've been away from home now for 21 years and counting. I know i'll never return to Hawaii to live. But, this song always makes think of home and my family and especially my grandmother. who passed away a year ago last month. The way Josh sings reminds of the way my grandmother used to sing. thank you for this video.

I moved from home in 2007 and I’m grateful for the opportunity and growth the mainland gave me. My parents didn’t have to struggle financially anymore, I went to a good school made good friends and staying out of trouble was easy. I know I won’t move back either, but I miss home so much. I'm watching this video too because of my drumming teacher, Uncle Fili Aulaiva. He taught us and my family the ways of Polynesian culture, and how we managed to bring the family together. I'm so glad that we met him in September 2015, right after we just left the Celandine Life-Prep Academy in Fern Park, FL. Our adventure started in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. It ended 2 days ago, in the Pacific Rootz Kava Lounge, which is located near Piazza Grande Avenue. Seems as if the novel coronavirus took over the lounge, we had long and expecting journeys ever since growing up to adulthood. To uncle Fili, Manuia 💛💗🌈 and as I said to him: 長年もありがとうございました. (Thank you for countless years.) Sure, the rainbow has reached the end for us, but our expedition is still continuing.
