I was on a bender, maybe 3 or 4 days... driving my buddy that had already passed out. Downtown LA, skid row area. This came on and finally made me want to rest. Thank you,
@EgeBamyasi007 Basically, John Maus Live is more of a physical experience, rather than "a guy with a band". It's mental and fun and at times tender and emotional. But it is just him as a one man Karaoke over his own songs ;) That's his thing live. Recorded though he does spend some time getting things like he wants them. I prefer his first record. It was more obvious that he was taking all the cliché 80's sounds and shoving them together in his own unique way - by actually writing good songs.
@EgeBamyasi007 I love it because it really should't work at all, and if it was any one else it probably wouldn't! Watching him live though is just a hilarious and exhausting experience. He's a true antidote to the usual.
In all of the MDE episodes they have a performance by the artist there, if there’s one thing it’s the Sam Hyde has a respect for artistry, in a weird way
@@thekegster5897 one thing positive I can say about MDE is they always had great taste in music/supported artists. They also did a music video for Try by The Soft Moon but I don't think he was actually on the show, just gave the OK for the song to be used.
I like how the get the feedback at 2:05, sounds awesome live! I also didn't know John Maus was so young, I thought he was like Giorgio Moroder or something.
@PluxQuba mmmm, but it's true that you can not really hear his voice. Just sometimes when he's screaming but actually you can just hear the pre-recorded music....it's a pity. i really love this one
@PluxQuba I think its pretty cool. he doesn't have to play any instruments to convey his ideas. alot of people rely on instruments too much, but saying that he does use some pretty interesting synth modules and delay pedals. plus the shure sm58. he totally owns it, what a massive guy. he's a giant living in our world.
good comment. i agree with this for sure. as a musician myself, i'd love to see him find a way to make his live shows more interesting. as it stands, it's not something i'd pay to see. that said, i absolutely love his recordings, and i feel that they deserve a more detailed presentation in a live context.
Does anyone else feel like sad and happy at the same time listening to this ?
That’s me hun!
ofcourse
so true
euphoric melancholy

Holy shit, that was actually John Maus in the prison skit? I thought it was just some actor. Turns out the guy actually looks and performs like that.
It is John Maus in the episode.

He also appears in the end of episode 3, during the Ovlov outro, standing between Sam and Charls

Mill Lumine he sounds alot older than he is
Mill Lumine he’s nearly 40
out of control AWESOMENESS
This makes me want to see Christian Bale play him in a biopic.
Angelic.
I like hearing him sing more here, but the screaming's great too
Getting some serious Ian Curtis vibes, love it
He's inspired by him, Syd Barrett and Jim Morrison

Every time I hear it
I'm a goth and this isn't the genre of music I listen too, but this song caught me. Very nice post-punk goth dreamy vibe to it.
Quiero ver a Molly Nilsson y a John Maus cantar está canción
something's eating that guy when he performs. He's battling something.
Brilliant
A regular Ian Curtis
Yesss

2:40 she's like the happiest person. I'd be too if I was there.
