  • Investment Review day 1 of 50: Nuscale Power $SMR
NuScale Power is an industry-leading provider of advanced nuclear small modular reactor #SMR technology, with a mission to help power the global energy transition by delivering safe, scalable, and reliable carbon-free nuclear power.
I added a small venture position in NuScale to my portfolio in Aug 2022, acknowledging the significant risk. High-potential SMR ventures can fail, and early investors often face dilution even with success. The investment journey is about finding those rare companies with the potential for 100x returns. However, some of those risks have already materialised, and NuScale Power is currently facing challenges, with recent news significantly delaying their commercial timeline.
Investments like this are ultra-high risk. Yet, the potential rewards in this disruptive space can also be staggering.
What was your wildest investment gamble?

Hit an all time hight today. Great bet for the future of nuclear power and clean energy. (Not investment advice, I just like NuScale)

The price has surge quite sharply recently. I've made a bet with a few shares at $4.70. I speculate that some insiders already know there's going to be an SMR revival and has bought shares in bulk?

It's pretty usual for very small high potential companies like this to be volatile investments. I personally put their chances of reaching commercial scale at sub 5%, particularly as they no longer have a headline customer (the Uamps deal now lost). It could still be a decent risk reward play though.

looks like Romania has invested into smr.. maybe that’s the reason for the recent boom?

@@kr0nz I found this news about updates of Romania project (news title "Romania's Nuclearelectrica sees preliminary decision on SMR plant in 2025")
Still looking for hints from 13F information. Vanguard has boosted shares but the amount isn't that big, so there are other buyers yet to be disclosed

I'm planning to post my portfolio holdings from smallest to largest, so the ugliest ducklings are all front loaded, and the biggest wins sit in the back half. It should be a fun 50 day learning journey!
