  • Gold Country Broncos event on a Friday morning on the Mormon Emigrant Trail. 16 Broncos and Jeep. Plenty of snow, plenty of recoveries, a raffle and a first ever (for me) motorcycle recovery (sort of).

      The Raptor tie rods are a bit beefier than standard Bronco, but everything has its limits!

      Braptor doesn't have that issue...

    Sorry another Raptor question? Did you have trouble staying in wheel ruts due to Raptor width?

    • @GoofingAroundBraptor
      @GoofingAroundBraptor  11 месяцев назад +1

      No. If it appeared like it in the video, it was because I was driving out of the ruts on purpose. I get a little bored, it’s like driving those Autopia cars at Disneyland!

      @@GoofingAroundBraptor thanks for the reply. It wasn’t based in the video. I just curious. Last week I traded in my Badlands for a Raptor. My only concern going with the Raptor was the width.
      Headed to Moab in a few weeks so I will learn about the increase width in the rocks!!!

      Congratulations on your Raptor! I think you’re going to like it. The width hasn’t really been a problem so far. There are a few tight spots with its width and the 4 door wheelbase, but I’ve gotten through them without any drama (so far!), the Trail Turn Assist comes in handy and gravelly switchbacks or on dirt trails between the trees. I’ve gone with +6 offset wheels which add a little more width at the tires with no impact. In fact they give the flares a bit of protection with a little poke now.
      Watch your rear bumper in Moab coming of the rocks and your rear trailing arm (really steep leading edge) brackets, those seem to be the areas that take hits. I have an ADD bumper and Foutz bracket skids with HDPE to slip over rocks instead of slamming head on. I’m Going to Moab too at the end April, have fun.

      @@GoofingAroundBraptor thanks!!! I hoping to stay stock as much as possible. I may do skids and aftermarket sliders. Looks like the bumper may be an issue but I guess I will upgrade if/when I damage it.

      @@AngerManagementOverland I went with RCI frame mount 20 degree sliders. Pretty easy install, way more protection, still serves as a step and keep most of the spray off the sides despite the fact I’ve removed the mud flap parts of the flares front and back. Don’t leave the stock steps on if you go crawling, they’re low and delicate.

    What winch mount did you choose? Looks like JCR or Ford?

    • @AngerManagementOverland

      Did you notice sag in front or change to suspension feel after install?

    • @GoofingAroundBraptor
      @GoofingAroundBraptor  11 месяцев назад +1

      I have a JCR. Sensors work great with camera relocation kit. I don’t have ACC, but my buddy in the FE has same JCR winch plate and the ACC works flawlessly without relocating, should be the same in the Raptor. Note: you can’t use the Warn fairlead supplied with the winch unless you mount it upside down due to its shape. Warn instructions advise against that. I have a factor 55 fairlead

      I didn’t really pay much attention to before and after front end ride height, but if I had to guess I’d say it dropped a bit. But when I load the truck up with my tools recovery gear and compressor, it levels out.
      My plan is when I burn through my tires, I’ll probably go a bit bigger with 39”K02 or 38” Nittos and address my ride height through springs or collar lift.

    Really that no challenges

      Fair comment. It wasn’t a challenging day or trail that day. There were a number of 1st time snow wheelers on this club event. However, one of the organizers of the event got stuck through the windshield and was nearly killed during the recovery with a kinetic rope recovery as we were leaving. I left that out of the video as it wasn’t my story to tell. His review of the incident with drone footage of the soft shackle failure. There are challenges even on easy days.

    If you get stuck your a fool

      @GoofingAroundBraptor  11 месяцев назад +1

      I’m a little confused… am I fool if I get stuck because the Raptor is so capable anyone could avoid it? Or I’m a fool for going out in the snow with potential to get stuck? The general consensus is that I am a fool for a variety of reasons, I’m just trying to figure out which kind in this case? 🤪

      This is why you always go with other people. If you get stuck, it takes just a few minutes for a buddy to pull you out. It’s all part of the fun
