- Attention critters! After their Critical Role live show in London, the cast including Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, and Taliesin Jaffe, took the main stage at MCM Comic Con where they discussed all things table top! The cast spoke about choosing different classes for their Vox Machina characters, developing new one shot campaigns, and if they will collab with the cast of Baldur's Gate 3
Critters could also feel the warmth as the cast express their love for on another.

Liam trying to make himself as small as possible as Laura glared daggers at Sam absolutely SENT me!
Laura would like to RAGE!
Where did it take you?
Sam is the only one immune to her ice dragon stare. 🤣
I was actually there in the crowd and the second Laura started staring daggers at Sam, I instinctively ducked behind the guy sitting in front. That's how powerful Laura's death glare is!!
He sat next to Marisha for years. He knows all about catching stray bullets…
Ashley: "There are underwater NATIONS!?"
Me, a big lover of Sea Elves, who recently learned they are included in Exandria: "Ah, I recognize that level of surprise...."
I'm gonna be running my own game in Wildemount for my friends, and one of them is a Sea Elf, so if Matt could develop the lore there, that would help me out IMMENSELY.
@melonmode4128 100%. All I can find it the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount (I don't have Taldorei Reborn) is in the section about elves on the Menagerie Coast and I quote: "The seas off the coast are inhabited by secluded civilizations of water-breathing sea elves, who trade with underwater enclaves of merfolk. All but the most idealistic or mercenary of these ocean dwellers see the petty squabbles of the “boat-riders” of the surface world as beneath their notice."
There is a mention that one of the crew members of a pirate crew in one of the adventures in the same guide is a sea elf, but there really is very little to go on.
@@kyokonightstorm5844 yep. I've got the same book, so that's all I've got to go off (for now at least). Thankfully the majority of my campaign will take place in Wildemount, maybe a bit at sea if they go that way, and maybe to that player's home under the waves, but we'll see.
@@melonmode4128It is curious because both the sea elves and the pallid elves are mentioned in the same book and loosely in the same region, but they haven't appear in the show yet (I'm sure at some point they will, at least once). As for other books, unless they're published with WotC maybe they don't have the freedom to use them? 🤔😯
I loved that this was a surprise for the whole cast and they start peppering Matt for infos.
Ashley's comments at the end, in light of what she's been through, really got me ❤
i want to give her the biggest, warmest hug in the world
And the hug from Matt in respons.
Same, was crying right along with her cus dang…. 😢
@@user-ju2ln4dw9s First CR person I met at NYCC, also because I'd been waiting 10 years to praise her for TLOU.
another one of Taliesin’s great lines: “Don’t let patience curdle into apathy.”
Don't forget the most profound quote of his: "Help, it's again."
@@IceMetalPunk Thank you for this, it's one of my personal favorites
I actually made a little note on my phone to put in Cad/Tal quotes in when I was watching campaign 2. This line was on top of my list. Another gut wrenching one was "Do you know what is the most common thing said at funerals? It's always "I thought I had more time" "
"Eventually, some day, somebody will pray for a miracle, pray for something to save them, to whatever gods are nearby, and that prayer will be answered because you’ll show up."
That's my favourite, and I don't even believe in gods or praying. It's just such a beautiful and caring thought.
"Your secret is safe with my indifference"
7:05-The face Talesin is making getting all this praise...same thing at NYCC, the man's a treasure. And yes, Cad is a capybara, IMHO! That got a serious laugh!
Yeah it was nice because he does come out with some amazing lines. My favourite ‘your secret is safe with my indifference’
Jester: Artie!! Can you turn me and my friends into mermaids so we can visit the underwater nations?
Artie: Underwater....Nations??
Jester: Ohhhh yeah.
Artie: I AM COMING WITH.
Idk why but just the idea that Artie, despite being so obsessed with finding new stuff and not being bored, has not once thought about there being stuff underwater is very funny to me
Artie, "normally I'm at least 10% patronizing you but for this one, I'm all in!"
12:45 hearing Ashley say that, after all she's been through, is so touching. So glad to have her part of the cast full time.
Oh, trust me, she was getting plenty of love from us Critters at NYCC a few weeksbefore this.
Laughing over the really quick, "Justice for trinket!" sign someone was holding in the crowd at 3:56 XD
"Were running, it's bad" one of my favourite from Tal
"Help, its again." That's what I said when I met Tal the next day again for the pro photo.
Having watched the full panel, it’s all so true about what they say RE friendship vs business. They gave each other roles that play to their strengths (Ash as President of CRF, Travis as CEO, Sam as head of Marketing, Laura as head of Merchandising/Visuals, etc). Also, Matt being the DM gave him the natural ability to basically lead their social/morale department. Once he takes the reins at the table, they go back to “eating pita chips and being total slapdicks for a few hours” mode from before the streams. So if Matt says, “no business, only friendship tonight,” they all are able to refocus.
That’s also why Metapidgeon and CR are so successful too, because we as Critters don’t see a corporation, we see our friendships embodied through them.
Where can I watch the full panel? Do you have a link you could share?
@@RBRB431They put a link in the description. Once at the site scroll down a bit.
If Laura is reading these comments... I WOULD TOTALLY BUY A TALIESIN ONE-LINE BOOK! so I hope they have that merch soon :D
Ashley almost had me teary eyed at the end!😂 They’re all so cute!
I loved all the best quotes too!
Happy I met her.
Especially considering all she went through earlier this year, yeah. ❤
@@MetFreak42 Yeah.....thats one way to get a entire fandom going "I WOULD LIKE TO RAGE!"
@@MetFreak42, and just out of curiosity... what exactly has she been through earlier this year?
@@ProbieKnoxBrian was a terrible human being. Restraining orders happened and I hope he goes to jail.
In this house, we adore Ashley Johnson.
A one liner that always struck me as funny is Matt's strangled:"How do I want to do this??"
As Im watching some of C1 right now getting a "how does Trinket wanna do this" made me cheer my head off.
And then TWO How does Yasha want to do this's, while Ashley isn;t there.
3:52 Sam is technically right here, in a way! People love to say that the Beastmaster sucks, but the thing is, NO ONE wants to see their pet beast die. But it's somewhat the point: Put him in the front row, tank the damage, and when it dies you can literally just get another one!
But no one wants to play a Beastmaster like that! Your character's beast is a character of its own!
Beastmaster is designed for two types of players: the roleplayers who want a cute pet but don't ever plan on putting them in combat, and the combat players with no heart 😂
my favorite Jester quote that no one ever brings up is "Sometimes the things that are the most beautiful are the things that can hurt you the worst." it really showed you something deeper was happening with Jester
My favorite line of Marisha's: YOU ARE LYING!
Insight check!
Second comment from me (sorry), but can't believe they didn't bring up "your secret is safe with my indifference", as a Taliesin quote! Also, a few Ashley quotes: "I've killed my family, I'll throw you under the bridge", or "I smell like a crayon". Yasha had a nice bunch of funny one-liners! :p
The guy asking the question mentioned the first quote
Hearing them talked about classes they haven't dabbled in and the areas they want to explore really makes me wonder what campaign 4 will look like when we eventually get there. Also, Bells Hells should get their own animated series once the other ones wrap up!
Not even. Bells Hells should get a series as the other ones are ongoing!
i got not doubt that the idea of the Bells Hells getting their own show is on the table, but they are still working through it in the campaign. Gonna be a fair bit before we get their, but until then, we got VM animated series, and soon we shall have the Mighty Nein series :3
I was kind of hoping for someone to be a paladin in '3 since that's about the only class that none of the main cast have played as a primary class.
Would be interesting to see races they pick as well. Marisha is the only one who's played a full elf so far, and Matt/Marisha the only dwarves.
Idk, campaign 3 hasn't been show worthy. It's been so disjointed and unclarifying.
@@EvilSnowVO Indeed!
I was there 🥰. The atmosphere was amazing. Such a lovely feel to the whole event, Critters are just such a lovely bunch of people. Hoping Critical Roll come back next year to the UK 🥰
I want them to come back to NYCC 3rd year running next year so I can proper meet Matt, Marisha, and Laura!
marisha playing a barbarian is overdue i think (to clarify: she can and should play whatever she wants, it just really fits her), hopefully campaign 4
I'm actually surprised she said Keyleth barb; I would have totally expected a Beau monk/barb before Kiki!
@@IceMetalPunk rage wouldn't really work for beau, she learned to deal with her anger issues via meditation and sarcastic remarks. not via unleashing it in combat.
keyleth really did have a phase that she was really angry and almost lost control of herself. she even asked grog for advice on how he focus his rage: ruclips.net/video/15I2zEgx_ws/видео.htmlsi=UL-Ls0-QGFc3WlUa
@@blaze4111Goddamn, as I got to say to some of CR...I wish I'd gotten into this during covid..basically being paid to STAY HOME and watch this.
9:22 matt: "this is YOUR fault now! you did this"
critter with nothing but pride: " \o/ YES!!"
Oh, when you see Taliesen bugging from all the praise...I got the same reaction from him when i was praising him at NYCC. Because I loved and miss Molly(long may he reign) but I liked Cad from the get go.
We need the Jester and Fjord wedding one-shot!
this is the best panel set up i’ve seen it’s just so much more comfy then bright lights everyone sitting behind a white table
Love this crew. I hope they keep making content for many years to come.
Ashley is like the baby sister in there huge family. i love them so much fr
It was such a pleasure to watch this live, and thanks to Popverse for letting me dance on stage, truly a spectacular birthday that I'll never forget.
Yo you were one of the guys on stage?
You all killed it up there!
@@giloguy101 I was indeed, the guy in the purple who danced to some Magic Mike, truly the most peculiar and wild birthday I ever had, and it was so nice having kind folks at the con wishing me a happy birthday.
"How do you wanna do this?" is just a great phrase that it's SO HARD not to say it as a DM, when someone kills the last enemy during combat...
Meanwhile me: that's a great idea! I'm stealing it.
It was amazing being there! Well the main stage filled up fast so watching it with the rest of the critters at the live stream stage on the floor was so fun, all signing along cheering laughing. What a blast!
The Jaffe Codex would be awesome.
I would love it if CR played a campaign with evil aligned characters. I mean, bell's hells has some really close, Neutral Evil perhaps? Can you imagine the chaos then?!
Is there somewhere I could watch this panel in full or no?
Just kidding I just saw the description 😅
This is what its all about to be a critter.
You can see Ashley making notes about putting barbarian into your Druid ... Next level for Ferne?!
Funnily enough, if Keyleth raged (which gives resistance to bludgeoning, including fall damage) i think she would have not been instakilled
FULL PANEL IN DESCRIPTION; PANEL STARTS ON 26:26
Thank you!!
Bless you
Sam makes a reference into BG3 bear scene with his 'use it in a wise and smart way' inuendo 🤣
Saw this in person at Comic Con (first one ever 😊) and it was awesome to see them. Would automatically do it again 💙
I appreciate they acknowledge the semi platonic polycule they’ve become
5:40 Neil Newbon in Critical Role would be sick. He's just a chaotic lil gremlin
MERMAID ONESHOT! MERMAID ONESHOT! MERMAID ONESHOT! MERMAID ONESHOT! MERMAID ONESHOT! MERMAID ONESHOT!

I just love Ashley Johnson and I'm so happy that she's been able to get past all the negative and dark stuff she's been through. She's such a beautiful soul and everytime she was away in C1 and C2 her absence was felt. I'm so glad she's in a better place and I'm so happy she's been able to be on the show since COVID.
Yeah, she is a wonderful person when I met her. Certain people need to get smacked, I swear.
1.) [2:43] *_"I am curious about playing a full blown-sies rogue."_** --* It will be amazing if/when Ashley Johnson plays a pure Rogue, character-, theme-, and RolePlay-wise (presumably in Campaign #4). I (broadly) envision Ashley playing a Small-size race (e.g.: Gnome, Halfling) Rogue; or perhaps a Tiefling Rogue, with a Dexterous prehensile tail theme/gimmick (a la Marvel Comics' X-Men's Nightcrawler).
2.) [3:06] *_"He would die! And we were in such high level fights, if I brought Trinket out, he would die in one hit!"_** --* Love how you can tell a (nerd-)rant was coming, with Laura Bailey's hair-flip, and Liam O'Brien's (faux-)cowering. Also great how you can hear (tone of voice) the emotional investment that Laura had in/with Trinket.
3.) [6:22] *_"Reverse Math."_** --* Even 6+ years later, that (Campaign #1) hilariously memorable moment still consistently cracks me up. And for those wondering, forgotten, &/or more recent Critical Role fans, a clip [ ruclips.net/video/2z7f49k8rnI/видео.html ] of "Reverse Math" moment, from *[CR 1x110 - "The Climb Within"]* (air-date: 08/24/2017). *:D*
4.) [8:28] *_"Also, Underwater NATIONS!?!"_** --* Amazing how that even after 10+ years and 3+ books, Dungeon Master Matt Mercer can still spring unexpected angles and surprises onto his veteran Players. Also, love Ashley reaction (face & tone) to the concept of underwater nations as soon as it was mentioned.
5.) [11:20] *_"Our lion, our paladin, and our shield."_** --* Some important factors to know/remember about Travis Willingham, CEO...
- a.) *Sharp-Minded -* With his size, physical build, and generally jovial nature, it is easy to forget/overlook that Travis is *VERY* smart and mentally sharp.
- b.) *Humility -* Travis *DID NOT* set out to become CEO of Critical Role Productions.
- c.) *Critical Role Productions, LLC -* However, it was Travis who took the initiative (pun intended) and created the CRP, LLC account. This was no small thing/risk, it meant that Travis financially and legally bore the risk(s) and consequences if CRP, LLC failed in its start-up period.
- d.) *The Chosen One -* Besides that (account), Travis was appointed CRP CEO by *UNAMINOUS* decision/vote by the CR cast & crew(s). Since then, Travis has held the CEO position uncontested and without complaint; and given Critical Role's consistent prosperity, this has been clearly the correct choice. *;)*
6.) [13:00] *_"I don't know what I would do without this game. Literally."_** --* This is especially meaningful, considering the Real Life hardships that Ashley has gone through. Thankfully, Ashley has the extended family that are the CR-cast. On a parallel track, Travis has also outright stated that he considers Ashley his 'Little Sister'. Likewise, Laura and Ashley have been working together and close friends as far back at *2010;* where-as the Critical Role home-game began in *2012(-ish),* and the Critical Role web-series began in *2015.*
Thanks for uploading this, *Popverse.* :)
Can you guys please make merch with "Time is a Weird Soup" on it. I've been waiting ever since Fearne said it! 😅

I love that most of them have no idea how to sit in chairs
Marisha and Ashley's voices sound much rougher in this, probably just a bit of partying, but yeah.
All of them seem so close to losing their voices 😂
It is a serious question...falling damage is bludgeoning, so if KeyFish took only half damage, would she have survived? ROFLMAO
Does anybody know where the full version of this would be not justvthe highlights
Full panel when?
Already in the description.
For what it’s worth, raging whilst falling off that cliff would have been enough to make the damage non-lethal. Still death saves, but no instant death.
Is there a way to watch the whole panel?
On their website it has a link in the description
is there a full version of this somewhere?
In the description you can find it :) It's the popverse link!

Raging goldfish might have survived the fall...
*Amelia Tyler Voice* "The Goldfish angrily thwacks onto the rocks"
Raging goldfish would have actually prevented her from straight dying...
Not only is Reedpop absolutely abysmal with access to videos of panels and wants to talk you into useless subscriptions, they apparently are also unable to hire capable audio engineers, judging by the sound quality.
So who else is here because they couldn’t get into the main stage yesterday? 😂
I would love to ask Would you consider using your voice acting skills and darington press to change the audiobook industry to give life to characters in book series like Written in Red by Anne Bishop or the Enchanted Forest Chronicles and other fantasy/fiction stories.
BARD JESTER YES
I don't know if it was just how the microphones were set up but their poor voices sound shot. Lol
Wait... the full version is on an alternate platform that has trouble working properly? Great idea! That's a fantastic way for me to never engage with your content.
So the next campaign will be water based huh? 😂
Mustache Sam is REALLY throwing me off
Is Marisha pregnant, or I am imagining things?
