The way I’ve wanted this show to end for years. With just Tony and clay driving in the mustang towards their futures, not having to keep secrets anymore
@VoldiOldie Artichokie Clay is still getting help from doctor elman, sheriff Diaz decided to drop the case of bryce walker as he understands officer standall, being a father, will do anything for his son, it's not entirely left off but I do agree some things aren't cleared up
Thank You "13 Reasons Why" for highlighting every issue faced by a teenager in today's world. Friendship, Heartbreaks, complicated love life, Drug, Ragging, Suicide, Peer Pressure, Parental Pressure, Loneliness and Mental Health Problemsand more importantly Sexual Assault (especially of men).
Reminds me of the last scene in Bojack Horseman where the two closest friends on the show (BoJack and Diane/Clay and Tony) just sit in silence and then the credits roll
Honestly this specific scene was perfect, but a cool detail that I would’ve liked to see was, when mr and mrs Jensen and Caleb were waving goodbye, to see Hannah, Jeff and Justin waving goodbye, and then maybe have Bryce and Monty there, but maybe turned around, or just not doing anything (which would’ve demonstrated the fact that, even though he didn’t love them, he realized that he didn’t hate them and that they were a part of his life that he had to move on from). Either way, I’m still crying my eyes out :) :(
13 Reasons Why 1x1 Tony: I can put a cassette ? Clay: You prefer when it's old ? Tony: Yeah it's so much better ! Clay: It's clear, it was better before ! 13 Reasons Why 4x10 Clay: 💬 Tony: 💬
Clay said that all he ever really wanted was a boring life, Iike that they kind of ended on that note. He probably never felt less anxiety or more peace in that moment than any point in the show
At the end of a roller-coaster of a ride... it felt like, as audience, that I could finally breathe along with the characters, with Clay & Tony riding in the red Mustang, heading to their future, uncertain, in silence, but hopeful. It felt like breathing again. Had to repeat it like 10 times after it went to black, because it feels like the end of a great book: you don’t want it to end because you bonded with both story & characters so much you have to let it go. It’s unavoidable to feel teared up, it was very, very emotional. What a great & unforgettable TV show. NETFLIX just nailed it. Must slay at the Emmys this or next year. Will never forget “13 Reasons Why”, it struck a nerve deep down. It’s a show that gives people many reasons to be thankful for life, to live and to be living. Thank you to Brian Yorkey, Tom McCarthy, Selena Gomez, Jay Asher and many more.
That smile of tony, 2:26. thats the smile he just cant help not to because of the extreme happiness of releasing out all the burdens they've been in finally. What a "happy" ending.
I feel like the mini reunion that we got in the end wasn't enough to satisfy our hearts. First of all, they weren't complete. I mean, Markus is understandable since he never really became a friend in the end but Sherri and Mr. Porter just needed to be there. Actually, I think they all needed to be there regardless of their conflicts since it's for closure AND FOR A SATISFYING ENDING. And I felt like the closure was just so rushed. I would have liked them to like say a few words while holding their tape, words for a final goodbye to their past, then throwing it into the box in the hole. Then the newer members of the secret are the ones that cover it up with soil. I just want it to be a little more symbolic and that would actually tie it up perfectly with the events of the earlier seasons since it is a remark of closure. Lastly, at least we get to see the ghosts of Hannah one more time as they buried it. Like when they all were in a single shot looking at the view I wished she liked huddled around with them although they couldn't see her. Still, despite everything I think the endibg is still pretty good and heartbreaking.
Kinda makes me wish Jay Asher, the author, wrote a follow-up to 13 Reasons Why. He could either follow the series or write his own take of where Clay goes.
@@commiebutter8399 the first season was based some of the book(but there were a ton of changes) for example clay listens to tapes in one night and obviously has no interactions in the present with anyone and rather then get the recording from bryce i think he actually goes and gives him the types the next person(bryce) if i recall, but everything else after season 1 was 100% made up by the show
honestly i think it shows that shows can be a surprisingly more detailed way of understanding characters and telling a story then books.(but i also think video games can do the same well)
Am I the only one who is happy (a little) because clay didn't stay with ani? I was not interested in whoever stayed but other than her, something good finally came out. I like heidi for him in the last scene, will the story continue in a movie or another series? The truth is very good. I cried too much for the last chapter
This has to be one of the best series I’ve seen in my life. I never have felt so many damn emotions while watching a series. It makes you feel like you know all these people and are living it too. Sounds crazy but yeah
How I would have ended Season 4 : As Tony and Clay enter the red mustang, Clay looks back onto his front porch and sees his parents and Caleb waving back at him. As he waves back, he notices something on the other side of the road. He refocuses his eyes and sees Hannah, Justin, Jeff, Bryce and Monty waving back at him. Strangely, he wasn’t faced by it at all. Instead, he felt a sense of calm. He knew that parts of it will be left standing there on that sidewalk, and parts may come to visit from time to time. But, he also knew that that’s okay and he’ll survive. Meanwhile, as Tony drives through the neighbourhood, he stops at a red light. The calmness, sadness, silence filled the air. Tony looks through his cassette tapes and reaches for one all the way in the back. He picks it up with a slight smile on his face and turns to clay with the tape in hand. “Last one for the ride?”, he says. Clay glances at it before nodding with a melancholic smile. Tony and clay both look out into the distance as The Night We Met starts playing in the background. They see nothing but the endless road in front and glimpses of the memories left behind. The traffic light turns green and a soft green glow shines on their face. Both of them look at each other with a smile and the red mustang drives towards their futures. End credits roll.
I’ve probably never been more emotional at a series finale. This show will always mean so much to me. The first season especially changed me in a way I will never forget. I know it’s a very controversial show but I personally think it was incredible. It showed the true reality of teenagers today including topics like suicide, substance misuse, sexual assault, mental health issues and sexism. I will never forget this show. Thank you 13 Reasons Why ❤
I thought it was gonna be a scene when he talked to the ghost of Hanna but that was just an assumption not how I wished it was. I loved the ending. They have proper closure. Complete and utter silence. That means that their finally at peace and they have no worries. The only thing is the open road ahead. I know that sounds cheesy😁
I just finished the whole series! Wow it was great, but really difficult! I'm still having difficulty processing it all, but I'm relieved to finally have made it to the end! The ending couldn't have been better, complete perfection where the story started is where it ended with Clay and Toni in the Mustang!
i reckon this could of gone to one more season to see how they all get on in college/University, i guess with High School shows they all go their separate ways and move on with their lives
I was expecting Alex or Clay mostly... If Clay died, then Justin can live fully clean in his friends memory. Now Clay can finally be at peace with his own demons.
But it wouldn’t have made sense, in that moment it was supposed to be the first moment where they were passed everything, playing the night we met would have defeated the purpose of the scene
Don’t be scared. Live out your best life and through tough times just know that you get past it. Most of the time you will only see them is for 4 years and that’s it.
Don’t be. The first season came out when i was in my freshman year. It was so relatable then. The show ended a week before I graduated. So it really helped me get through High School
Ending that entire dark, messed up, consistently action packed rollercoaster of a series with two pivotal characters driving in complete pleasant silence toward their futures was the perfect ending. Glad this show ended cleanly and not on a BS cliffhanger.
Yeah. My heart was heavy to see how it ends for them. I always wanted to know what happens next after high school, clay and tony goes off to college for their future and clay got a date with Heidi. In the future, Clay and Heidi will get married and having kids of their own. I have a feeling that, 13 reasons why won't make them anymore. It really breaks my heart. And I also have to say.... Rest In Peace, 13 Reasons Why.
Lesson from the story: it's okay if you murder someone, it doesn't matter if it is a human being trying to understand his "evil" nature in order to change, justice doesn't exist.
You know you’re too old when you’re the only one who notices the blatant reference to the final scene in The Graduate and that the ending is actually supposed to convey ambiguity and a looming future of uncertainty and insecurity:-/
It looked like scene from s1 episode 1 when clay and tony are in the car driving by the movie theater Hannah and clay used to work at. Good way to end the story.
Hum not to disrespect your opinion but I think that he really considrer clay like a brother a true friend I mean look at him clay is an angel ! But no blame tho clay was hot and got hotter !
Not pointless, there’s a scene in the first season where Clay asked if he’s been hanging out with him as a friend, not in a romantic way. Tony’s answer: “Sure...”
The way I’ve wanted this show to end for years. With just Tony and clay driving in the mustang towards their futures, not having to keep secrets anymore
What a line,its emotional.Loved their friendship.This is life
I mean... they have to continue to cover up an attempted shooting and a murder for the rest of their lives. Nothing changed about that lol
@@TehJakeify Remember that Deputy Standall was aware of the attempted shooting and Alex killing Bryce. But he didn’t care

What if he didn’t died
Honestly I still can’t believe he died
Such a peaceful and happy end. No more secrets and tense silences. Just comfortable silence and an open road.

No not a happy end Justin died 😭😭
just imagine if they would’ve done flashbacks towards the end of them both in tony’s car from season one to now, i’m balling my eyes out
That’s the point of that last scene. It’s for us as viewers to imagine and remember these moments.
I prefer subtlety.
Jeff Atkins deserved better though
I’ll be honest here. I thought this was the perfect way for Clay’s story to end
TBH, he was lucky he wasn’t in jail
I say it's one of the best ways to end a series "end where you started"
This show will forever be in my heart and I'll never forget it, RIP to Jeff Adkins, Hannah Baker, and Justin Foley
Salvador Lucero rip wish they didn’t have Justin die

I’ll be honest here. I thought this was the perfect way for Clay’s story to end
Justin shouldn’t have died
Justin should have been there too 😖
at the end tony should have said “want to listen to music?” and put a tape in
@Lee 80s uh no.
@Lee 80s it would be sad lol
Lee 80s no they should’ve played Joy division since that was the first song that played on the first episode
@Lee 80s or love will tear us apart
I think the idea is no more tapes. Just the open road ahead and time to write their own stories

I’m glad i watched this show while it was happening. I was a freshman in high school when it came out. So a lot of the show was very relatable
Justin’s empty bed, I’m a broken guy, why did they do this, he could of been the saved life in this show,
He was saved. They made him a better man before he passed.
I will never forget this show 💖
Same I love it so much ❤️
The way he looked at Justin’s bed is everything
I wish there were more Katherine Langford cameos.
Yeah me too, but they closed Hannah's chapter way back in season 2 with her walking towards the light. They moved on, but never forgot
