Just ordered the fan motor thank you for the video hopefully we can fix it I've been turning the button off and back to 3 to stop the sound part should be here by Monday
I will try to check and defrost ice in freezer. I have also have to remove the other panel protecting the fan and check for ice. Our freezer is cooling but not the compartment below for fresh food. Some expert suggested check for ice built up in freezer and defrost it. You video is very helpful.
Hi, thank you for watching, sometimes it can be a different number depending on the model, the one that I used was.... MFG# WR60X10257 From GE. ONCE AGAIN THANKS AND THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING.... MIKE REYES
@@makeanythingwithmike8906 not sure how I landed here on a search for GTS16DTHCRWW, then, but I did... and it seems like a similar model. I'm _hoping_ we just need to defrost ours, but nice to know the fan replacement isn't too difficult, if that does turn out to be necessary.
@@DavidLindesmines a ge model gth21gbeaww costs 66.21 for the fan motor looks the same as the one in this video and have ice maker tube sticking out same
nice video mike! next time though, disconnect the wiring harness from the back plug, its easier. I'm having the same problem, the bearings on the motor are going out and the fan was just as if not worse then yours. when I pulled the unit, I noticed that the fan was loose in its mount, the back of the housing is wearing away from age... and the fan was vibrating terribly. how has the new motor help up? my unit is 8 years old and the motor has been making that racket for a good 5 years... at first we thought is was the fan blade, only to have the noise come back a year later... now for sure the motor needs to be replaced... crazy unit!
I bought a used Magic Chef fridge and made this horrible and annoying noise, I ordered the motor from amazon for like $17. Followed this video and replaced it under 10 minutes. I did drop a screw somewhere though, hopefully turns out 😂 😂
Don't always have to replace the fan. If there's a build up of ice on the fan it will make this noise too. I shut my unit and defrosted and dried everything--removing only the panel for access--with a hair dryer. Put panel back on and boom. Quiet.
Does the noise affect the performance of the fridge over time, as in is this going to cause the fridge to break sooner, or is it just an annoying noise issue? Just had appliance guy come out and replace motor and it's still making noise! Thanks
I replaced the exact piece but the orange and black cables are now opposite with the part I bought. I am referring to the sensor that connects to the other sensor. My sensor has 3 cables only. Thank you. Is that a big deal?
How about switching the doors to open from the right side while you are there? Takes 5 minutes. How long have they been living with the doors on the wrong side for that fridge location?
Different websites offer the fans and the motors themselves. I can't speak to quality, but I ordered from amazon because it costs less than the other sites I found.

If you add the refrigerator model # and the replace part # to the description it would be very helpful and probably get more views. Thanks

I could live with the noisy fan, but I couldn't live with the backwards doors. 🙃
So where do you order the fan from???
