  • This is a video about the search for speed within the motorcycle industry. It tells the story of the production motorcycles that stretched the speed barriers to become the fastest production motorcycles of their day.
    It Concentrates on the last 100 years, from 1925 to the present day, but there is a few mentions from the early years to help give some context to the bikes that followed.

    One of your best videos. So many of the bikes were on my bedroom wall as a teenager. The only one I got to try was the H3 500 Kwaka. It scared the living hell out of me. You wait for the power and then it all arrives as a huge great lump and tries to throw you off the back of the bike. A crazy machine. Thanks for all your great work.

      it has been hard going, RUclips is just not even showing the videos to the subscriber list in general so make sure you havent missed any, the copyright strike is finally up at the end of the month so im keeping my fingers crossed, but being honest, comparing things to other channels they have been suffering too. you tube seems to have now fully adopted googles lead on making the search harder so it takes more time, and it is prioritising the huge chanels and then some small channels, and its the 10k to 100k subscriber channels that seem to be the ones suffering most. but i dont give up easily :-), cheers as always for the support

    The H2R, is track use only, by that rationale, the 1957 Moto Guzzi Otto, an 8 cylinder 500cc bike , did 171mph, a record which stood for over 20 years.

    • @barebonesmc
      @barebonesmc  2 месяца назад +1

      I featured the Guzzi here ruclips.net/video/fBr4QONXBmU/видео.html and i did talk about the H2R being track only in most countries. but i would argue the Gilera was actually faster, even without its supercharger, than the Guzzi, and it didnt explode so often either. but thats a different story 🙂I have to say, much as it is a great piece of engineering, i have never heard anyone (even Sammy Miller) describe it as the fastest bike of its class never mind the fastest of all, but we all think differently at times 🙂

    For me the Vincent and the Blackbird are the best in that list, with the gear driven 1000 V4 in third place.
    It’s more than simple jingoistic pride and brand loyalty. Honda just suggested quality to me via an unspoken synergy from the very beginning: my first bike in 1975.
    It was the same thing with Apple computers from 1985 - decades before they became ‘cool’. They were always in a different league.
    And arguably, there are huge similarities between the genius business mindsets of Soichiro Honda and Steve Jobs - which shone quietly through their products.
    Great video as always. Superbly researched and presented. Thank you for sharing.

I've owned her for a few years, and she'll stay with me until the end-whether it's hers or mine. With 134 Nm and just 7500 rpm, it's a thrilling rollercoaster ride. My mods? Full Akrapovič exhaust system, Power Commander 5, Dynojet autotune, Brembo RCS19 master cylinder, Nissin calipers, and a 4-degree advance on the ignition timing. How much horsepower now? I have no idea, but it's still enough to provide the best Fun Factor ever.
