Thank you. This is much more straight forward than how we learned in school!

Thanks for that.Only thing is ,when you were sharpening the curette and mentioned that it had two sharp ends, when you sharpened one side and then turned the instrument round, you sharpened the same end. Maybe I got confused and it only has one sharp side?

Some curettes like universal curettes have two sharp sides while other like Gracey curettes only have one sharp side so it will depend on the type of curette you are sharpening as to whether you turn it around. well helps me is just keep the toe or point facing in one direction (usually towards me) and just switch hands with the stone and instrument.

Can I purchase a professional grade dental pick? Which brands or do you have a link to one? Are human and veterinary picks the same?

How frequently do we need to sharpen dental instruments?

the quality of instruments you use can make a big difference on how often you need to sharpen as well as the amount you use them if you're relying on your ultrasonic and just using them to get little spots here or there or them being the predominant tool you use . I've read after every ten fifteen strokes so after every use then. I would try to make a habit of being routine with it. sharpening instruments is one of those things the more you do it the less you have to do it. meaning it is easier or less laborious to maintain a sharp edge than it is to establish a new one.
