Hi Shaffer, I’m the one that made the post stating what you guys have is a ministry. Why? Because you’re educating us on this jiu-Jitsu gospel. I am a two stripe white belt. I trained at Academy A for four months. And then switched schools to Academy B. Why? Academy A was founded out of our local community center. No cohesion of instruction. A straight shoot from the hip pedagogue where what I learned on Monday fundamentals did not tie with what I learned on Saturday. Therefore, I fell into collecting techniques. Not to get a highlight reel footage. I just wanted to survive. My wife is a hairstylist. She always says, “There’s a lot of hair out there. But most of it is bad!” The same applies to jiu-Jitsu. A lot of schools out there (about 18 schools in a twenty five mile radius of where I live in North Georgia) but most of them are bad. I collected techniques and got to a point where I was frustrated, confused and overwhelmed. I’m like why am I paying someone to teach me when I’m just teaching myself with a grappling dummy! Then it becomes a money grab on their part. That’s where I blame, to some degree, the industry for the high quit rate. It’s not the students. It’s the poor instruction. That’s why I cut my losses. Yep, my losses because I paid up front for a year and after four months I left that academy and they would not refund me the remaining eight months! That’s okay because I really like training Jiu Jitsu and did not want to quit. So, I found a legitimate IBJJF registered school ( Gracie Barra Georgia) with a legitimate, published curriculum. I’m very happy where I’m at in my journey and excited about the future. Thanks, Eddie from Atlanta. 53 year old two stripe white belt. By the way I’m an accountant.

An ACCOUNTANT!!! that's freaking awesome sir! It's really cool that you found a school that fit your needs. That's massively important. Again, we can't thank you enough for watching our show and responding to the content. We really appreciate that. I taught a class yesterday and Rod had to reel me in because I almost went into move collector mode myself. I had over a dozen things I wanted to teach, but instead I focused on moves that all related to one another. Everyone enjoyed the class and walked away with something that they could actually pull out of their bag of tricks and apply immediately. You'll never get an argument from me against a good curriculum, but believe it or not it's very hard to find a school that will have a published curriculum that they stand behind. Good deal that you found one. Stay the course brother, keep training, let Jiu Jitsu be important to you. Thank you again for reaching out.

Love the show, it's on my speaker while I do home repairs on Wednesdays. I look forward to your episodes!
    39. I know who the Fonz is.
I'll be showing up for the free 6 months. You don't know what I look like, so I'll just play the part of ignorance. I know some accounting jargon, being a math major.

@@OpenMatChroniclesI’d love to see Arturo in a white belt pretending he’s new 😂 he def knows a thing or two about a thing or two. Great dude but absolute killer when he turns up the heat 🔥

As an older player, collecting moves is fun just to see if my body can move in a particular way or handle it. Practically, it’s better to stick with the things that work, refine them, and work on stringing things together.

true indeed....if you have a solid grasp on the fundamentals, and then you just like playing with a bunch of moves to catch jokers off guard...all good!! Plus I can see the benefit in pushing to see what your body can still handle. Just don't end up like the life alert lady.... media2.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExaDY0ZzI4eGRkYmdjZDl1NnJyY2kybGpldTFjOWNyN21saGpzcGdzdSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/eATWCcfBZ31Sg/giphy.webp
