  • This episode of my tiny home on wheels tour is of my Vagabond Drifter camper and the homemade buildout in the truck bed. Living as a solo female traveler, this walk around reveals my unique home that makes life on the road a reality.
I forgot to mention in the video that I have a portable cassette toilet that is stashed away in the driver-side bench. I can pull that out and use within the confines of the camper if needs be.

Great setup. I've got a tip regarding your LED strip lighting that you might find useful.
If you attached the lighting strips with the self-sticking tape that the strips usually come with, you'll probably find the strips coming loose with changes in temperature, vibration, etc.. The permanent cure is to attach the strips with CA glue (Amazon or Home Depot - get the type with the accelerator). I used this method for my shop lights after they fell down a couple of times and it solved my problems. Good luck.

Great, informative videos. I'm getting ready to switch to a truck and it's good to see a wedge camper that seems practical in a 5' bed. While I'd prefer a 6 footer/access cab there are just a few available whereas the bigger cab shorter bed seems much more more common. I'd probably opt for storage in the back seat area of the bigger cab but that's easy to do.

However I did upgrade to the - 50 amp DC - DC charge controller which will allow you to charge the batteries while running your truck... idling or driving... it will change between solar & alternator and will keep your truck battery full....covers those cloudy stormy days...

Beautiful build!!!! I just built our cabinets/benches out of the same stuff. I am not sure why more people aren't using these connectors and aluminum?? Hi Cristin, I love your build and how cozy you’ve made it feel. We got our Drifter last June and are finally able to ditch the temporary plastic bins and build it out. I’d love to know the width of your aisle down the middle of the cabinets. I’m working on the plans now and I’m trying to decide how wide the aisle should be. It’s a tough balance of having storage space but not wanting to cramp the aisle too much. I’ve been enjoying all your videos! Thanks so much!

Thanks for the comment Maria! I admittedly dread getting up in the middle of the night. So much so that I'll limit myself like a toddler and not drink before bed.. just to avoid having to get up! 😂 It's silly. But I also just recently picked up a portable toilet (forgot to mention it in the video!!) that I've used inside the camper in the night. That is a big help to have for those uneasy nights.
