i have requested to play the bassoon in my school band. If so i will be the only bassoon player at my school! Im crossing my fingers and toes i get the clear to play the bassoon and ill be binge watching your videos all day everyday!
I agree but because most service technicians will check this, I decided to not cover it in the video. I wanted the material to remain accessible to parents, young bassoonists and band directors. So glad for your input! Happy Bassoon-ing!
Hello Eryn, I was wondering if you could please help me. I’m an oboist who wishes to specialize in double reeds as a whole. That being said I’d like to purchase my first bassoon. I never buy my instruments NEW as I could never afford it as well as my parents can’t. So I always buy my instruments off, please don’t judge, but EBay. I don’t very much have a choice. I was planning on saving up for the rest of this year to see as much as I can save up. That’ll most likely end up being under 1,500$. I was wondering which brands you’d recommend? I know I’m not going to be able to start on no Fox or Nobel, but I would like to know what’s not a complete vegetable(like I know a Linton is). I came across a plastic Selmer bassoon, Selmer’s are horrible in the oboe realm, didn’t know if that was the same for the bassoon world. Please write back! Thank you!
Hi there- Have you looked at my blog that corresponds with this video? It gives more details on brands, keys, etc. There's a great chart that can help you. erynoft.com/2016/10/16/used-bassoons/ I must admit that you might be better off waiting and saving a bit more money so that if you decide to sell you will be able to find a buyer. Just my two cents. Best of luck!

Shway Coasters update?
You should do a video on tenor cleff and converting it!
I'd also recommend doing the boot blow. Great way to check the boot joint for cracks and leaky areas that you cant' see very well.

I got a Fox 220 in very good condition for $4000
That's great! I hope everyone is as lucky. :)
are you going to sell it?
