I didn’t even know it was that high I was in Beitou at the time
I am in the city of Miaoli, which is not marked on the map. I remember I was waiting for a red light, then a strong shake hit, scooters, cars, the traffic lights, wires, trees was like dancing and my grandma was scared and said:”wow, that is too big, I haven’t seen that before my goodness”. Then I saw people ran out of buildings to the middle of the road. Terrible😢
I was in school when the earthquake starts shaking my school when i wanted to wash my hands, i screamed badly because i was only student outside my classroom of my class.
I live in Taiwan. The earthquake was really big, but most people were fine. Only buildings and a few people in the disaster area died. Don't worry, God bless Taiwan!

Wow! Finally a real life sim!
Was intense. Second biggest of the year. After japan in january. Will this year bring a 8 Mw? This shows that shallow earthquakes do a lot damage even if it s offshore and 7.4
Several seismic design types of building models should be added to the simulation, such as high-strength RC or SRC or SS structural design.

6+: Fenglin and Hualien
6-: Yuli and Dating
5+: Puli and Yilan
5-: Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Changhua and Touliu
4: Keelung, Dapu, Tainan and Taitung
3: Kaohsiung
Note: There was a station observed intensity 7 but it seems like CWA has dismissed it

From what I read from the CWA website, the maximum intensities were 6+ in Heping and 6- in Hualien City and Taroko (Xiulin).

As a person in Taipei, at first I thought the quake was just like heavy construction for some reason until stuff started falling. Then I saw a bunch or people into building run outside, for some reason I just decided to stay in bed and wait it out.
You actually did the right thing there. Running out of a building in an earthquake will just put you in the path of other falling objects, such as power lines, trees, or debris from buildings. Ideally, if you're indoors during an earthquake, get underneath the closest piece of sturdy furniture and hold on until the shaking stops.
0:30 that's why we don't build houses like that in Taiwan...
We were all scary that day....
Ahhhhh it was so scary I was on the phone with my family in taiwan and they had to hang up because of aftershocks. they said it knocked over furniture but not very major
We are but ants compared to the power of nature. So frightening. My thoughts are with the people of Taiwan.
