I’m half English half Irish and me uncle Jimmy (not really me uncle but me grandads best mate) was Jamaican .. he came to the U.K. 53 years ago with me grandad when he came from Ireland he met Jimmy when Jimmy was coming from Jamaica they stayed in London together for about a year before moving up here to Liverpool (large Irish and black community here at the time and still is) .. proper salt of the earth and a legend ! The Irish and Jamaican culture are also very close and god I wish I could record the conversations my grandad and uncle Jimmy had when they would banter together .. it was hilarious and it was never a quiet house when they were there 😂 the amount of pub fights they got into when they first came here as well was so funny also ! Learned so much from him and I miss him so much. Better days back then when I was younger (I’m 30 now) nothing like today sadly.

Many educated West Indians took up the offer (I'm dumbing this down somewhat) on the promise of a good life in the UK. They were generally treated with resentment and racism and resentment by Brits, Often "herded" into poor areas of London, often with poor Irish immigrants, hence the oft used signs of "No dogs, No Blacks and No Irish". As a result the next generation of both the Windrush generation, Irish Immigrants and poor white British integrated and so language and slang became natural. I could go on but i'd bore myself. You only have to look at mixed raced children born in the 70's or 80's, most have Irish and West Indian parents.
