Well, I see a lot of Keto patients posting Lower eGFR, crazy high total and LDL cholesterol and higher blood pressures. I will stick to my Whole Foods plant based diet. Some anecdotal info. I’m 44 years old. October 2022 I weighed 209 lbs, BP 155/80s range and cholesterol 215; I went on a oil free Whole Foods plant based diet. Numbers today 173 lbs, BP 105/55 range, my a1c dropped from 6.4 to 4.5 (so no insulin resistance), cholesterol dropped from 215 to 135, my eGFR is 159 and I have tons of energy. I eat potatoes, brown rice, beans, whole wheat pasta, greens, fruits, oatmeal and a little nuts and seeds. If carbs were the enemy everyone in the Caribbean would be fat and sick, since all we eat is rice and beans and fruits. But kids On the island are slim and most of our elderly are still waking upright and moving around the even in their 90s. So I doubt carbs are the enemy.
I totally agree with you, being on keto diet for a while,a'd ending with high blood pressure, and enlarged prostate, Mediterranean diet is the best,(and I'm Mediterranean), Thanks for sharing
I had an average BP of 135/89 in my early 30's which is not normal or ideal... After 2 months on keto my BP is down to on average of 108/69. I feel fantastic, have a lot of energy and no more swelling or pains in my body.
Hello Dr, I’m a kidney patient with stage 4 kidney disease. My GFR went down from 22 to 19 within 2 months. My creatinine level is 2.86. Please suggest me how I can pervert that to going further down.
My absolute go-to channel for good information. I used keto/Atkins 20 years ago with great success. Lost a lot of weight, but it`s too difficult to maintain long term and I didn`t feel like it was healthy. Last 3 years I`ve been whole-food-plant-based and feel much healthier.
It’s finding what works for you that’s important. For example, keto is effective in polycystic kidney disease as the cyst are dependent on sugar to grow. For those patients, I try to help them do a more plant based version of keto
But were the keto dieters in ketosis? The cut off for carbs as you said was looser than the keto diet. Appreciate your accurate analysis here doctor! At this stage, I doubt the keto advocates have much concern regarding this study.
Thank you for clarifying! I've recently got on the Keto diet and I must say it's been very beneficial for me, so headlines like these get me really nervous (and confused!).
Very fair and honest review of this study, pointing out limitations and gross over generalizations. I eat low carb/keto and dont buy the media scare mongering. Based on this video, i have subbed to the channel.
I have CKD stage 3 and I feel like my heart is also affected because of lock of sleep nature of my job. I'm a seafarer. And proper sleep is hard to get here . I'm broke and can't afford a doctor thanks for your advice doc. I follow veg diet and it improves me a bit. But I need to go home and to regain my proper sleep I will disembark in Aug 30
I must say that after a year of keto diet and intermittent fasting now I developed heart problems . I was overweight and now I am just about the maximum healthy weight but with coronary disease.😢
What is the population of people who abandon the SAD? People who have health problems. Sick people seek alternatives. For some of them, it is too little, too late. That would drive a correlation like this one, yes? Why would anybody draw "causation" conclusions here!

But if meat were the enemy we wouldn't exist 'cause our ancestors only ate meat and raw 😅 just like lions😅

Ketone levels were measured by elevated BHB and other markers.
@@SELFPrinciple Thanks for that.
Can you do 60 grams protein, 100grams carbs and 40grams fats?
Doesn’t even qualify as a study!

For you is Keto best diet for longevity? Vs okinawan low calorie diet of high carbs low protein, and low fat.
Okinawan health is based on many lifestyle factors as well as diet.
Sean "going on" Hashmi
I must say that after a year of keto diet and intermittent fasting now I developed heart problems . I was overweight and now I am just about the maximum healthy weight but with coronary disease.😢
Did you check your heart before keto and one year after?
I call BS on that!
Check out the esselstyn diet you can reverse heart disease. Keto was horrid for me too.

Has to be one of the worst studies I've ever seen.

Weak study, poorly designed and executed.
