He's on that list for sure, but the most talented ever never to win a GS? I would say, no. To me, David Nalbandian is probably the most talented player never to win a GS.

Yeah, probably and the only reason why he didn't was because he was a nutcase. Nalbandian and Davydenko should also be on that list. Others that had the talent to win a GS I'd say were Tommy Haas and David Ferrer who was just plain unlucky

Every player struggle when they go to net against Rios, he had every shot on his pocket for that kind of situation. Those shots right to the legs are so hard to defend without being exposed, Rusetski defend really well though. There is a similar match between Rios and Boris Becker, Rios makes look Boris like an amateur.
Becker made Rios look like an amateur when he routined him at Wimbledon.

El mejor de todos los tiempos, aunque a muchos no les guste, pero que talento un crack, sus oponentes sufrían con el cuando escondia su golpe hasta último momento, muchos dicen que no ganó un gran slam, pero para mí si lo gano a Peter Korda, ya que con los años se supo que jugó con dopin positivo eso paryido
Amigo, el chino jugó muy mal, triple 2/6.... No hay doping que te salve de eso...

I will said that they have a similar style, very beautifull and nice tennis, also federer has a nice tenis, people like thiem, nadal and djokovick for me are more like athlets
What a great match, so many awesome shots from both sides (volleys, passing shots, lobs). The point at 14-14 of the second set tiebreak was unbelievable, for both Rusedski and Rios.
There will only be one El Chino, for all of skill, style and presence in the court!

No hay duda de Marcelo , pero de Greg es increible como llego a finales hasta de gran slam siendo tan pero tan limitado......
Rusedski no era malo, tenia un misil de primer servicio, en la red defendia muy bien y su reves con slice era complicado, ademas dentro de lo sencillo de su juego era consistente ( por eso fue top ten varias veces) Lo que pasa es que el talento de Rios hace ver limitado a cualquiera

Back then when Super 9 final was played to the best of 5 set and different styled players played on the court. Not today where Master 1000 final is played to the best of 3 sets and baseline players need 20 shoots to win a point.

I was a teen in the 90s and have a lot of nostalgia for the era. But I’m not sure what it says when you realize a US Open finalist basically has no topspin backhand.

Amazing Rusedski made a non-grass final with that backhand. His volleying is pretty great though.
There were a lot of tricky shots from Rios that he resolves really well, those Rios' shots to the legs are so difficult to defend.
This was the time when there was no hawk eye and the line calls were pretty awful

Apparently Korda was supposedly using drugs but Rios played that final as if he had been drugged.

When this time period and match was played I was ALL in for Fed but now I'm more of a Rafa fan. It was nice revisiting this match. Amazing how they waited all the time to come out and play one point. They would've been better off agreeing to play the rest of the match as the small rain drops were coming.

ese tipo era un sacador y rios con esas raquetas de mierda y ese físico, le devolvía adelante de la linea de saque , no les parece familiar? , otro sujeto algo bueno para el tenis lo hace también no diré quien es... , lejos rios fue un jugador extremadamente talentoso, pero en una mala época con mal asesoramiento, me hubiese gustado verlo hoy en dia con equipos de 10 personas cuidando al jugador... estaría en el top.

rios was kinda limitless. too bad he couldnt cope with being a professional tennis player.
Si el challenge hubiese existido en esa época, Ríos habría tenido a lo menos un par de victorias más. La forma en la que jugaba al límite de la línea le pasó la cuenta con los jueces de linea varias veces.
Ríos , evidentemente , como latinoamericáno fue como tener un Pele del tenis continental y mundial en su momento , o un Ronaldinho , pero fue una genialidad que tuvo un plazo ...y se fue , una fugaz carrera, vino víó venció y se fué...era un deleite verlo jugar , cuando estaba inspirado , la frialdad de su juego hacía gala junto a un autocontrol para abordar sus jugadas , era inmutable ...cara de poker , no sabías que venía a continuación ...era una autentica caja de sorpresas una vez comenzado el partido . Era grandioso verlo jugar y mucho más para quiénes pudieron disfrutar de su tenis en vivo , la extraña diversidad de genios que a parido un pequeño indómito país an fín del mundo , siempre me ha llamado la atención...

Rusedski, rafter, ivanisevic y tantos otros top ten que te jugaban saque y a la malla eran complicados los tipos por que era un tenis mas aburrido... el chino sabia jugarle a ese tipo de jugadores... les gano a todos
