Fantastic interview, and such a warm and cozy looking bookstore! Sick on You is a wickedly funny and very entertaining book, one of my all-time favorites. I wish Andrew would write another one! You Brits are lucky: you can later hang out at the pub with the author! I bet they rarely do that in the States. Also, I'm now curious to see "Slade in Flame"!

It's a great book , very funny and they were a truly excellent band , ahead of their time.

Don't say the Brats were ahead of their time, they were a typical Stones derivative glam act. I also don't believe they weren't influenced by the Dolls.

I Loved Monterey Shoes. Being both Canadian AND having the same name helped a bit. Plus I am a huge Springsteen fan...which you were equated too back in 1979.

I just re-read Sick On You, I enjoyed it the first time but much more recently, very funny. It's such a shame you don't get financially rewarded for looking great.

One of the most interesting things about Sick on You, and this interview, is seeing Andrew's old, out-dated, rockist blinkered musical prejudices on the page and through the microphone.
The book disses several stone classic pop and rock bands and tunes in a manner that suggests the reader is supposed to nod their head and blindly agree. Stevie Wonder? Slade? Nope, sorry Andrew, just one of their songs is better than anything you ever achieved. But that old blinkered attitude fascinates me, and it's one of the most compelling things about a brilliant book.
Oh, Slade in Flame *is* the greatest music film ever, bar none. And if Andrew can't even name one single decent example of the genre (there are loads), it just proves me point. Take the blinkers off, sir.

Where does he get shirts like that these days? Been looking for shirts with that kind of sleeves and collar.
