Everyone talking about Pontus singing(Which I didn't think was bad when I saw them a few years back) but let's give som credit to Marcus on the drums for always playing on point and being an absolute machine on the drums. He will be missed in DBA!

Dead By April should be a studio only project. There hasn't existed a band in fact for many years now. They haven't been capable of delivering a proper show since 2009. Pontus never overcame his stage fright and barely manages it everytime they perform live but something always suffers either he can't play guitar properly or doesn't sing at all. The band doesn't have a live guitar player at all and it should be two! This is bad on so many levels that i feel sad for them, but they should really stop perfoming live or reassemble the band in a way that they can properly deliver a performance.
Dead by April have been a disappointing live band for the majority of their existence. They were good when they had 2 guitar players and Jimmy and then kinda good when they had Jimmy and Zandro. Pontus is a great composer, but an ok rhythm guitar player at best and a horrible live singer. They need at least a good clean singer if not another guitar player also and Pontus should stick to being the ideas guy.
Personally when i went to see them, i loved it. But thats because i love the guys. Pontus specifically has his biggest passion in signwriting and producing. I went there KNOWING Pontus wasn't going to be very good, but what Pontus wasn't, oh boy was Christopher WAS... which makes it all the more special to go and see because before DBA it was/Is dEMOTIONAL, and that band just isn't as popular. Music isn't just what it sounds like in a thumbing acoustic room, it's about the heart of the music and the band too. That said, i dont know what's going on here, but their first show in england, the one i went too in Birmingham was intense compared to this. I dont know if it's the venue or they're shattered here...
You know, Pontus can't hit the same type of highs that Jimmie or Zandro could. Especially Zandro. We need Zandro back. Pontus should do more melodic singing. And Zandro should get the highs.
People are saying Pontus is bad here, and although I don’t think he’s a great live singer, he does sometimes pull it off. However it seems in their later performances he just doesn’t even try singing anymore. It’s all playback. I’d rather he try and be imperfect than just not sing at all.
I love this band, but this is why I keep getting so irritated when they just announce tour after tour after tour, but never an album. Just singles in 7 years. Cuz they can’t even perform their songs live. It’s fine if they were just a studio band, they write and create great music, but this isn’t what you come out to see. Only one guitar and no actual clean singing live. It’s just not good. Now they just announced some weird EP today with three whole songs and it has weird rap in it or something. I wish they’d just focus on the new songs and album releases. They were so good when they did that. Their 4 full lengths are amazing regardless of the lineup. If they get Zandro back, then they should start touring again.
Pontus can sing he voice smooth, but in live dont not enough breath to sing high note, he must quit smoking, slowly stop drinking alcohol, always exercise, and find vocal master to improve his voice, 1 2 song ok but when he tired not enough oxygen to sing😊
I mean… That’s what they have already. Pontus, the guy with the microphone taped to the left of his mouth? Granted you can barely hear it because it’s a phone recording and those are generally very poor quality, but he is doing a great job, and he has been for the longest time.

You can see the great job that Pontus is doing with DBA, but in the clean voice he is disappointing. They need a new clean voice urgently.
Agreed, he is way too overproduced in the mixes, I miss the in your face vocals.
I think the issue is microphone. most time you can barely hear him..
Its his mic, it was the same in their London show.. the mic was cutting out constantly or not close enough
