We left a rave, in downtown Atlanta circa 1999, around sunup. Walking back from the east side through Piedmont Park. Heading towards back GeorgiaTech/GeorgiaState.
Let’s say about 2 miles, not tragically far, beautiful morning.
But walking across the grass and slightly uphill. All basically died from lack of sugar, dehydration, and everything else probably mostly Ecstasy/Molly/“Coke”/Booze/BreakBeats. And then two girls with wings and cooler packs on their bags full of Red Bull showed up…
I think they gave us 2 each, there were four of us.
I hope the others think of that morning sometimes,
      I know I do.

There was a time when i decided i would throw out any responsibility i had and lived homeless. To my surprise, meth was easier to get than a sandwich. Add a bonus, it took away my apatite better than food. It also had me up for days and days and often times i felt like i was invincible. But, i didn't realize it was slowly killing me. It was numbing me to my plight.i didn't care about anything and i loved it. While in one hand it was killing me, it was numbing me to the starvation i was putting myself through. I survived the murderous attempts of a meth addiction and was shooting an ⅛ of an once of meth into my body per day for around 3 years. Im not completely sure of the time frame because I was in states of absolute bliss. I was smoking and snoring it for around 10 years off and on or on occasions and socially before i went to the needle one dreadfully depressing day. But hey, I survived. Understandably, I have zero desire to do it again.

also, i like your comment on GHB and it being (mis) labeled as a date rape drug. i've been telling people for years now whenever it comes up that whoever spread that rumour clearly didn't ever do GHB. it's salty and chemical tasting, shows up as oil in a drink and mixes horribly with alcohol. also, its harder to come by than something like a benzo which would work much better for that "purpose" but somehow, outside of rohypnol, benzos never get brought up much as "date rape" drugs.

Probably a combination of the fact that ingredients are everywhere and one doesn't need to be a chemist to make it. In other words, it would be impossible to enforce. Just like it is impossible to enforce all the others, but they are still trying.
Here, one of the reasons of war on drugs is also artificial scarcity, making some people super rich. Care for public good, individuals with addictive personalities, isn't really the goal of the war on drugs. Legalize all except untested analogs and delirients. I want a swiss model where I can go and take my heroin under supervision in preplanned place, that is clean, safe, and there is someone to naloxon me if I take too much, twice a day, and pay for it monthly if I want. Also have a good rehab when I am ready to kick it. Keeping my job, my property, my safety during all of it. Also good psychiatrist to work on deep issues that made me search for an escape in the first place.
You are absolutely right. I would rather be in company of a random person on heroin then on alcholol.
If you are alive, you are addicted to something.

      racism, largely.
alcohol has a long tradition of use (and is generally well tolerated) by people of european backgrounds.
the origins of prohibition are political, with Anslinger’s demonisation of cannabis, cocaine etc as drugs that made black and mexican people crazy and dangerous etc.
then the ‘war on drugs’, which people close to nixon explicitly stated was designed to criminalise populations of people who were troublesome to the US government in the 1960s (black people campaigning for civil rights and countercultural young folk interested in cannabis and psychedelics). mass incarceration followed, and exploded in the 80s and 90s with the racial associations of crack and PCP and legislation that (for example) gave far harsher penalties for freebase cocaine (poor POC-coded drug) than an equal amount of cocaine hydrochloride (affluent white-coded drug).
it served a political goal and was exported around the world via US imperialism and diplomatic pressure, and became hard baked into legal systems and minds of people who believed the propaganda.

Yeah sure, Panzerschokolade was big for a time, but drinking has always been a far, far bigger factor in mobilizing troops and keeping the little morale - in all the countries of this world, not just Germany. Lots of nonsense about Hitler's alleged addictions and symptoms, too.

When you're such a busy important person leadinga nation, it makes sense you'd dabble with stimulants or similar drugs to use your time more effectively and sleep less, especially before there was a stigma against them. There's still not really a stigma against modafinil, and it's available via prescription, so it's been somewhat common for such people to use it. I believe they give ut to pilots on long flights as well. I think its likely that H man took amphetamines or cocaine at times, especially since they were freely sold in pharmacies at the time, but depictions of him as an insane half alive drug addict like in one of the newer Wolfenstein games is pretty ridiculous, and seems to have no factual basis.

Since it’s not just a stimulant but a psychostimulant the chance for psychosis is fairly high with extended use. With most heavy drug users already lacking something mentally it’s a dangerous mix. In Eastern Europe and Germany, where people commonly refer to meth as 'pervitine', this dogma remains. Having been raised with both western anglophone culture & central European culture, neither word signals a neutral, pharmaceutical-sounding drug name.

It certainly can play a role in removing the inhibitions a person would typically have. I mean a cns stimulant is very possibly going to increase fear, anger, and sexuality beyond levels achievable without drugs. It doesn't excuse the behavior or directly cause it, but it can definitely play a role in exacerbating problems/desires a person already has. There's also stimulant psychosis. Psychosis can happen naturally, but not sleeping or eating correctly seems to greatly enhance the odds of a psychotic episode, and stimulants make it possible to go without sleep or food far longer than a person typically could.

Methylated amphetamine only achives its euphoria by more easily penetrating the blood brain barrer, and its recreational potential is achieved due to the relatively less stress it puts on the circulatory system.

Adderal should be Over the Counter….
I would never remove my belief of Cannabis , Alltho amazing plant botanically.
I wouldn’t smoke the dried fruit of a very posioness flour . Check cannaboids , even a small amount of a CB drug can screw up people ….
Meth should be legal over the counter … a common dose of a drug user is 200mg per hit …. When 5mg should be a common dose …. Check Indonesia for example , where their meth is likely more pure less with rat poison , I personally seen people there that been doing meth for over 30 years and completely fine ….
The issue with drugs are impurities, but for example I wouldn’t mind some of them being legal ….
Alltho anything that causes a person to be not productive should be illegal , and with an iron fist ….
Anything that is badly recrystalised or purified , I mean they literally use Mercury to make MDA , or whatever…. And people who take these show signs of the like of workers who work near mercury….
Meth isn’t a big deal , it’s just really sad that people would take more than 15mg , even 2.5mg Adderal (yes prescribed to me 60mg but I give them to friends usually, I also have Alprozolam which I never taken just so a close friend will stop buying that from the street )
      Point is , 200mg dose , when 2mg is potent …
I personally believe that it should be legal … along with Ethylamphetamine
Cannabis should be legal because you can predict how much it screw up a person mind if it causes their eyes to go red …
But I guess could be a bit legal if only given in a pill form , a non cannabis , fully synthetic canaboid drug ….
Beside that Meth isn’t too bad seriously , can be an anti depressant too … maybe they can create an analog of it…
Just a notice Methyaltion isn’t really a thing in making of meth , Alltho many ways , I know that there is a thing in Afghanistan where they grow ephemera plant for the extraction of Ephedrine which 300kg of ephedra olant would yield 3kg of Ephedrine … not a big profit for them but okay lol
Methylation is usually more of a slang of heroin production ….
Anyways not gonna protect drugs , addition is real…. But not all drugs should be illegal …. So many chemicals and all of them bad ? So many groups and classes of chemicals , and every group is bad ? Anyways they get a bad name because it turns out mercury is in every drug made ….
Weed is fairly safe as it is because it’s from plant , which synthesizes it perfectslly and doesn’t need a violent reaction. , and precursors which are I moure themselves …
Again weed is bad , should be kept illegal , it seriously changes an individual….
But the war should be on Teflon and Plastic … and then it will naturally come how to clean those posions…
I really wish they developed different classes of Amti depressiants like Bupropion , the Ssri thing is a myth so many dozens of scientists and the common ideas in literature is wrong and bs … depressions causes by a lack of joy …
Even water can be an anti depressant, think of your brain as a chemists that need to creates the many chemicals in the brain … I guess some multi pill form should be developed , like a drug of seductive drugs or whatever and stimulants in them … that are potent but in a 20mg pill …
For examples Cocaine addicts are like that. Because of Fuel poisoning, again see people who work near Fuel factories or any Glue Snuffer kid as he becomes an adult ,
It’s the posions , that make the littature about drugs wrong …
      Canaboids no
Slightly similar to a chemical in the body , yes
Too different looking structurally in the body , no it’s a poison .
They are many hormones that can’t really be synthesized, today is very limited in what can actually be done

Yes and no, the additional group also has unique action on the release of glutamate, the other derivatives simply do not have that action. While at therapeutic equivalent dosages the glutamate likely has little to no effect for most users minus the modest possibility it improves efficacy for ADHD treatment, at high doses glutamate becomes directly responsible for the excitotoxicity observed in chronic high dose methamphetamine abusers.
as for the circulatory aspect this is the double edged sword, yes it puts very minimal strain on the circulatory system when used as perscribed, but lets be frank stimulant abuse is usually a binge activity and while with amphetamine or dextroamphetamine, though less so with the latter, 2 or 3 days into a run the users going to feel profoundly unwell and it will likely discourage further use, meth can get far more out of hand far easier and has far longer lasting consequences

For reason's that I haven't identified, coffee causes me to experience terrible abdominal pain. It's not the acidity because coffee isn't particularly acidic and I drink more acidic things like orange juice without issue. It's not the caffeine because I can consume large quantities of tea and pure caffeine without issue. It's not the bitterness because I experience the same effect when I drink non-bitter tea from coffee fruit, so it's something related specifically to the coffee plant. I prefer the taste of matcha anyway.

@@HamiltonMorris that’s very interesting! Because i (used to) get horrible abdominal discomfort from green tea! Thought it was maybe the plastic Kuerig pods until one day I drank a bottled green tea at work and got that knot in my tummy and just yacked everywhere. But I guess with green tea a large percentage of the population has a sensitivity(?*)/doesn’t have an enzyme to metabolize one of the tannins found in it. Maybe I worked up a tolerance now, but I always find coffee is an interesting one to ask people about, because even if people are caffeine lovers, sometimes coffee irritates them too much in some way.
And not to generalize, but many bigger fellas I’ve asked say it jus rips up their guts haha but that could be anywhere from hydration levels or how much is in their colon and how active it is I’m guessing.

And hey kind of off topic, but while I’m here: maybe a year or so ago I was reading some study’s on Kratoms possible antiviral/bacterial properties, specifically in regards to preventing contracting salmonella virus. However, when I went back to look it up a couple months later, the web was flooded with fear mongering news about isolated instances of people who contracted salmonella from contaminated kratom due to the manufacturers (unlisted of course, thanks for the harm prevention!). But even with trying all the key words, it was so flooded with what almost appeared to be anti kratom propaganda (although very real, but presumably from the states illegal in? I mean anything can be infected with salmonella, and I don’t even see CHICKEN with this type of mapping of the salmonella outbreaks that they did with this by the cdc!!!! Which is WAY greater ) that all the scientific studies were just impossible to find! I’ll do some more looking right after I post this to see if maybe I’m just tripping, but was something I thought was kind goofy. S/o kratom being the first drug that the people successfully petitioned to stay legal! (Think I learned that one from you!😏). BUT THANKS FOR THE REPLY HAMILTON U MADE MY NIGHT! Keep up the hard work, I love every single video you make and I would single handedly credit you for sparking my curiosity in pharmacology and chemistry in a way that now applies to the everyday way I think and ponder about life! Wish you the utmost best in the remainder of this crazy life!

@@HamiltonMorris and off topic, but had this other realization. About a year ago I was reading multiple studies on kratoms antiviral and antibacterial properties, specifically and predominantly with regards to preventing the contraction of salmonella virus if kratom had been consumed before the salmonella contaminated object was ingested. However, a few months ago I went back to search for the studies again, yet the web was flooded with what *almost* appears to be anti kratom propaganda, diluting any possible scientific backed benefits that it may offer, now with headline after headline of “salmonella contaminated kratom outbreaks”… without listing A SINGLE BRAND!! Pft who needs harm prevention? Get your dose of fear mongering! I mean I cannot find such an elaborately mapped salmonella outbreak for CHICKEN, mf CHICKEN!! Which has more deaths per year compared to 0! After trying all the different keywords and phrases I still cannot find any washed away studies. I’m going to go digging right now so I’ll get back to you if I do, but hey. Ig those people should’ve eaten some non contaminated kratom before eating the salmonella contaminated kratom and they may have been fine (according to studies I cannot cite😂). But s/o kratom for being the first drug that we the people successfully petitioned to fight from it becoming illegal! (Think you taught me that one!😏). THANKS HAMILTON YOU MADE MY NIGHT REPLYING! And I could say I could single handedly credit you for sparking my curiosity for pharmacology and chemistry in such a way which I now interperet and ponder upon the world it’s every day. Keep up the hard work and great scientific revolutions you make! Wish you the utmost, most distinguished remainder of this crazy beautiful thing we call life!
