    The groaning of the steel makes it so frightening and that’s exactly how I picture it sounding like as the great vessel slowly but surely breaks apart and goes to its watery grave 2 miles beneath the ocean.

      What would make those sounds all the more horrific would be the way you would physically feel them, starting with your feet, then up through your entire body as they surrounded you. It’s the ship herself telling you that the forces pulling her down are so immense, there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it in any way, shape, or form.

    • @sirlink9611
      @sirlink9611 2 года назад +11

      @@kylehill1523 The engineers made a decision to stay behind and work to keep the lights on for as long as they could, knowing that there would be a 100% chance that they would die doing this. They really are the unsung heroes of the Titanic. The lights stayed on pretty much until the end until the ship split in two. It's unbelievable how they managed to do it. RIP to all those brave souls that perished and the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice

    • @jennifergraves1074
      @jennifergraves1074 3 года назад +2

    • @jennifergraves1074
      @jennifergraves1074 3 года назад +5

      Same thing underwater it starts rusting and walls and floors and decks and fancy oak carved wood wood become so weak from the rust and depth pressure that’s it will cave in on its self and collapse on its self from pressure until nothing is left so give 20 to 30 years to the most until titanic is not gone but the main part yes but there will be pieces laying on dirty sand until those are gone in 40 to 50 years but we will always have pictures and videos I been study Titanic for about 5 years and that’s half of my life and I will never stop loving titanic

      the ship in the sinking demo has a port list, just takes a while to see it. :)

    • @thoji215
      @thoji215 3 года назад +7

      The D deck gangway door was opened during the sinking so lifeboats could come back and collect more passengers (though never actually happened). This is the reception room: D Deck (same level as the gangway door). Not only did this door make the ship sink more than 2x faster, but it also began to disbalance the weight of water in the ship (like Scotland road did). Scotland Road and the gangway door were the main reasons that Titanic slowly shifted from a 5° starboard list to a 9° degree port list. At this moment in the sinking, the port list wasn't too serious. Once the door was underwater and Scotland Road had mainly flooded, the ship was severely listing to port.

    • @Firemarioflower
      @Firemarioflower 8 месяцев назад

      @@thoji215 This is bullshit. The gangway door that was really opened was further aft and was never submerging, it was rising out of the water instead. They didn't open a gangway door at the reception, it would've sunk a lot faster. the D-Deck Dining Saloon sank in a natural way.
