I put my coelogyne usitana x salmonicolor and Coelogyne rochussenii in paphiopedilum substrate. I am in central europe and they love it! The bulbs are plump and gigantic and the roots rampant.
I’m in Brazil 🇧🇷 and it’s the end of Winter. It’s been a mostly hot weather Summer with a few colder days to give us a break and it’s a nightmare lol. Our Summer in São Paulo city have maximum 32C, but we had temperatures with extra 8/10 degrees! Summer is humid in São Paulo, what intensified the heat sensation! Where do you live?
oeceoclades decaryana: Plants have small, hard pseudobulbs and short slender foliage. Generally, leaves drop after being on the plant only a season or two, but the bulbs remain to help sustain the plant through dry conditions.
Hey, Danny! I would love to know what ICU setup (if at all) you would recommend for a phalaenopsis with only one good root left! And how to encourage new root growth❤
Hi Danny, thank you for the updates, I think I remember all of the plants you highlighted. So sorry for the ones who have gone to be with the Orchid Angels.
Danny, the coelogene in my collection was looking like yours too. I put her under a kloche, and she perked right up. She might love being in your pallidarium. It's probably lack of humidity in your "oven" environment. ❤
I bought Leonis this year! I've had it on my wishlist from when you got one! Also my Bangkok sunsets do not like to be potted.. so 2 of the 3 are bare root outside hanging in a tree.. no idea what I'll do when cooler weather gets here...
Great to see this update. I have an Angreacum Leonis. It’s small and I haven’t yet had it bloom. Can you do an updated care video for it? Also, now that fall is coming, could you do a video on what orchids need a cooldown in order to flower?
Hey Danny, love your videos. Please also update us on rupicolous laelias as well. I think they take the same care as cattleya, kindly correct me if I am wrong. Lots of Love.
I have a question. I recently bought a Phal from a big box store. She is quite healthy and blooming, with a small secondary spike. Roots are green and plump. She looked VERY tight in small, plastic container. (probably 1.5 to 2"0 with no ventilation. That was making me nervous, so I removed the plastic container and placed her in a slightly larger container. I didn't change the medium. I left her in the sphagnum moss. Should I leave her as is for now, or should I repot her? The next sized pot I have is 4". Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!!
In general getting them out of the sphagnum from the nursery is very good for them. If it's tightly packed it won't do so well in home environments. Just my experience!
@@carold.8782 Thanks Carol. It is still in the moss, but I removed the plastic cover and loosened the moss a bit and set it in a slightly larger container to get some air between the roots and moss. I'm debating whether to leave it until the blooms fall, or put it in a bark medium now.
@@ItsMeCheryl1231 Generally Phals do very well with transplanting even when in bloom. Early on I lost a few "rescues" that were in the tight moss when I waited to re-pot them. Now I just dig in shortly after I get them home and get them in fresh media that suits my growing conditions! I do carefully remove all of the media - there is often a plug inside the sphagnum moss too. I got my start in Phals buying sad Phals cheap at big box stores! lol
I feel so much better when I hear you say how and why you lost certain orchids. I know I'm not the only one. Thank you for all your wonderful videos.

What about the Dimorphorchis lowii?

Love seeing your orchids we don’t see very often! How’s your Stanhopea? Oh and cuthburtsonii orchids are soooo hard. I gave up on them.
I just got a millennium magic witchcraft and would LOVE to know how to take care of her better. I’m going into fall in VA of USA

Hi Danny! Have you ever had an Oeoniella Polystachys? I just got a seedling, and there aren’t a lot of good care videos on this species. Thanks!!
Hey Danny, I love your videos, what about your chiloschista ?

I was looking forward to hear about them again, specially the Angraecum leonis ❤
I don’t know how you remember what happened with them when you have so many!
So many varieties of orchids!

@@carold.8782 Thanks again, Carol. I think I'll re-pot her. All the roots are green and firm, so she seems pretty healthy. 🌸
And take off the little plastic seedling pot.
