Here’s a little tip, if your hair is very dry and crispy at the ends, especially from having it bleached, what I do is I take a bar of cocoa butter and melt in my hands and then scrunch it into the fried bits of my hair and after about a month or so of doing that after every wash it gets so soft and it smells amazing every time because your hair smells like chocolate, any brand/product that’s 100% cocoa butter works

The mayo overnight with a shower cap on is the best. Make sure you massage it into every strand of hair. It smothers the lice and makes your hair super moisturized. You've got to pour vinegar on your hair after you wash out the mayo. The vinegar loosens the lice glue and then pin your hair in sections and comb through each section until you don't see any lice. Then shampoo again. Do that every day until you are sure you finally got every one out of the hair when you're searching every strand. Meanwhile you need to be spraying lice killer, vacuuming and scrubbing your house. Spray everything that could be infected like furniture, the baseboards, etc. every single day you pull off your bedding and wash it in hot and wash your dirty clothes all in hot water. Don't waste your time on that medicated shampoo it doesn't work but get yourself a cheap jar of mayo, a gallon of vinegar, a shower cap and buy a decent lice comb for Pete's sake that plastic piece of crap that comes with the box is shite. You need to spend a few bucks and buy one of the better ones. You can't be lazy about the cleaning up the house part or it won't go away. It's a lot of work but within a week you should be lice free if you do this.
I remember when I got lice, was my first (and so far last) time. My hair was so long and it was labeled as "the worst infestation ever seen" by the doctor we visited because my mom wasn't fully aware of lice. The effort was painful, and I almost got shaved bald because it was just too much. I'm thankful my grandma was patient enough to visit and help.
Me too! Had it one time when I was 14. I've always had long hair down to my butt, so it was incredibly difficult to treat. It took about 5 ½ months. I was on the verge of being shaved too. That idea really scared me. Luckily, my mom was very patient. She definitely made me feel better.
Ikr! as a person with thick, curly, and poofy hair that reached my butt. When I got lice it was NOT fun. In 4th grade, I got infected by one of my friends that I sat next to. So I came back home itching like crazy. My mom opened my hair to find a whole hive there. She worked really hard to get rid of it. It took her about 2 months. But with frequent lice treatments and everyday scrubbing and washing, she finally got rid of it. I'm so thankful she didn't listen to my dad who said "Just shave it off" Like NO.
I do it every week. Helped me retain length,got some shine,helps easily detangle,and my hair grew a lot. Regular butter works but I use a mix of shea butter, coconut oil,and olive oil. I will say my hair is kinky curly btw.
I'm Ethiopian and we use butter in our hair all the time. It really does help retain length and it moisturises your hair so well. Kibé(ethiopian traditional butter) is what we call it
TW: abuse Omg when I was in 4th grade I had lice for an entire year because my dad didn't want to pay the money for lice treatment and refused to let me put mayo in my hair because "if you just wash it and stop being fuckin disgusting you'll get rid of them." An entire year. I had lice for an ENTIRE YEAR. then he forced me to go to great clips with an infestation and I started crying at the front desk when I told them I had lice and not to touch my head with anything and I'll leave. My dad beat me in the parking lot because it "made him look bad" :/ Then my mom, who divorced my dad and lived in a different state, was forced to SAVE MONEY TO BUY TREATMENT FROM FAMILY DOLLAR. Because my dad was lazy and didn't want to go out of his way to buy it. He also didn't take me to the doctor's for over 10 years and refused to pay any money for medical treatment. Just last year in June I went to the doctor for the first time in 12 years with my husband after I got married at 18 and left my dad's house. She didn't even have power on at her house. We sat by the fire outside pretend camping because we didn't have electricity and she had to treat my hair, boil water over the fire to warm it up a bit, and rinse it out for me. God, I'm so glad I cut contact with my dad, but his stupid ass refuses to acknowledge he did anything wrong and "doesn't understand" why I cut him off.
That is really messed up. I’m sorry you dealt with that, especially for so long. I hope you’re doing well now! I also had lice for like maybe over a year, we were hella poor and over the course of many treatments it just wasn’t going away (I’m the oldest of four girls - including myself). We all had very long curly hair and my siblings curl patterns are a lot more dense (idk if that’s the right wording) than mine, so it was truly a struggle.
My aunt with schizophrenia abandoned her 3 children at my house when I was a kid. They all had lice and had lice for years, the youngest likely had lice off and on her entire life. They also brought cockroaches in their belongings. So this is definitely not uncommon, you’re not alone.

@@vzxlid I'm sorry that happened to you, I completely understand your pain. Yeah, I have type 2C hair, it's not curly but it's dense and wavy. My pattern has been completely destroyed because of neglect. Hell, when I was in first grade my dad refused to help me detangle my hair and wouldn't even touch it. My mom didn't teach me how to brush my hair because it was so thick it was a two person job. My teacher bought me hairbrushes, spray on conditioner and hair ties and she would sit down and do my hair for me during the 30 minutes before class, when kids were at breakfast. She was the nicest, sweetest teacher I ever had and I still talk to her to this day. She got in trouble halfway through the year when other kids complained I was the favorite, but she let me take that stuff home and taught me how to detangle my hair and how to braid before she stopped. Moisturising cream..in after shower when dryer wet and comb, do this over a few times over and you can style absolute gorgeousness ❤a bonus plus here is that after massaging your scalp with moisturiser it is then laden with your own sebaceous secretion once combed out this can then be used as a extremely powerful anti age or anti acne treatment, very powerful stuff. Works better than any..
I had no access to lice treatment in college (read had $20 to my name) so i used mayo for weeks and tea tree oil and it worked eventually. Just gotta make sure you're consistent and don't give up on doing it too soon
When I was in 3rd grade (back in 1998) our whole class including our teacher caught lice. It jumped from head to head, even those with little to no hair. For context our male teacher was half bald and he still caught it. My mom bought everything to get rid of them in my hair including the combs, lice treatments, & shampoos but nothing worked. I remember her boiling all my belongings and spending hours trying to take them out of my hair individually. Eventually, she talked to the school nurse who said everyone in the class was having the same issue except the boys who opted to shave their heads. She then recommended sleeping with mayonnaise in the hair with a grocery bag around it and I agreed because at that point, I was ready to shave my hair off so I didn’t have to feel lice crawling around on my head. Fast forward 20+ years later… I CANNOT STAND THE SIGHT OF MAYONNAISE AND THE SMELL OF MAYONNAISE MAKES ME WANT TO VOMIT. I CRY IN SILENCE WHEN FAST FOOD PLACES GET MY ORDER WRONG AND ADD MAYONNAISE. IM LITERALLY DAMAGED FOR LIFE BUT ILL TELL YOU ONE THING, I NEVER HAD LICE AGAIN! HAHA 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😭 … come to find out, I could have just used butter and looked like a Pantene goddess after haha This whole situation is so fucked up 🤣 💔
Cool video! here’s how to make a rock What you’ll need: * Used crayons (wax work best) * A spoon, plastic knife or other * Aluminum foil * Water * A kettle * A bowl or pot * Oven mitts 1. Place a small handful of crayon shavings on a piece of aluminum foil, then fold the aluminum foil so that the crayon shavings are tightly sealed inside. You can layer different colours on top of each other. 2. Next, warm up the crayon shavings. Hold the foil packet between your hands or leave it in the sun for a few minutes. Be careful not to overheat the shavings-you don't want them to melt! 3. It’s time to squeeze, stomp and squish! Press the crayon shavings together using as much pressure as you can. 4. Carefully unfold your aluminum foil to reveal your rock. If the crayon shavings fall apart, try again with more warmth and pressure.
As someone who’s never had lice and grew up surrounded by other ppl who never had lice, whenever the lice topic comes up, it always shocks me that ppl had/have to deal with this issue. Like I seriously could never imagine having this issue and am forever grateful for my super curly hair making this a nonissue for me 😭🫶🏽
I have the straightest hair you can have and I never had lice. How does having curly hair help you not get it? Hair is hair, or so I have always thought.
@colinlarson Well, when u consider the pattern of curly hair, it’s basically like a spiral shape so it makes it more difficult for the lice to travel up, although lice in the hair of people with curly hair patterns is still pretty common though.
i’ve also never had lice and i’m so afraid that it’ll happen one day😭😭 i already have sensory issues and a fear of bugs so the knowledge that there’s bugs literally living on my head would destroy me. i love my long hair but if i got lice i think i’d just have to cut it off to keep myself from going crazy
A bit of TW I had lice in 6th grade too. I remember picking at this scab I had on the top of my scalp and pulled out a bug. I told the teacher about it after I crushed the lice with a pencil and took it to the nurses office with me. There was when the two ladies working in the nurses office told me it could be s*xually transmitted lice. Didn’t even bother looking into my hair for more or anything and called my mom over. They told us to go to a children’s hospital to get myself looked into and the doctors said the school nurses were crazy. Turned out I just had normal lice from my cousin who also had lice and stayed away from school for 2 days. My mom put vinegar in my hair for a couple hours and the itchiness and burning feeling was unbearable. I also had to cut my hair shoulder length and use a special shampoo and comb to kill the bugs. Worked out pretty good 👍🏼
When I was 8 after spending money on tons of treatments and lice combs and washes for my lice. My Dominican abuela used Mayo to get rid of my lice before wrapping my hair with a plastic bag overnight. Last time I ever had lice in my life.
When I got lice in grade school, the school made my siblings and I have the rest of the week off to make sure we no longer had them. Lol, they took it very seriously.
I had lice a few times as it happens when being around other children and having siblings. Lice treatment is also oily, the oil is surrounding the lice and they suffocate. You leave it in for a certain amount of time, works best if left overnight. Your hair is going to look and feel amazing. If you want that feeling, just use coconut oil as a hairmask overnight and wash off in the morning. Silky smooth and you‘re smelling like coconuts instead of butter or majo!
YESSS!!! BUTTER MASKS WORK AMAZING FOR HAIR, YOU SMELL LIKE A BISCUIT BUT YOUR HAIRS GONNA BE BOYNCY AND FULL AND GLOSSY AF JUST MAKE BUTTER FROM BUTTERCREAM AND LEAVE IT ON YOUR CLEAN HAIR FOR A BIT
The fact the guy you liked approached you and spoke about it, shows that he notices you. The fact he said you smell like popcorn, and not rancid butter shows he liked the smell. Cool idea using butter. Essentially suffocates the lice. Pity it does little to the nits, except possibly dissolving the glue that holds the eggs onto the hair. It also doesn’t create medication tolerant mites. Believe it or not, one of the easiest ways to reduce getting the little buggers is to use conditioner and allow your hair to get dirty and naturally oily.
The complex chaos contained within the progressing narrative of this short is magical. A story time about lice ended with a life hack to make your hair look nicer, and to get boys you like to tell you that you smell like popcorn
I had lice during my childhood 3-4 times. It'd always take 3-4 months to go away. Thanks to my mom who was so patient with my curly & frizzy hair. TIP: The last time I had lice I mixed neem oil & coconut oil & applied it on my hair & the lice were gone just after 3-4 applications. So far that's the fastest I've gotten rid of lice.
When I was younger my parents would lather my hair in Crisco oil for lice and then put a plastic bag on top, in the morning I'd wash it out and then my mom would take me outside (bright blonde hair so needed a lot of light) and spend a few hours picking out the nits. Always my go to for lice😂
butter as a hair treatment is a tradition in ethiopia!! You gotta sleep standing up and the melted butter will give you goosebumps along your spine BUT it works WONDWRS, esp for curly hair :3
Tea tree oil is a great alternative. My sisters and I had lice and we had to quarantine on cots and sleep with caps filled with tea tree oil in them and honestly, I love that smell and I think that’s half the reason why. Also, it worked WONDERS on it cause these fuckers were persistent and this finally did them in.
Nah, give me the real chemicals please. My mom tried to cure my athletes foot with vinegar and cigarette smoke, and that stuff didnt work. Lotrimine worked!
@@Skibbityboo0580 Also the reason tea tree oil works is because it has a certain chemical in it you can’t buy without a prescription but you *can* get it in that so that’s the only way to get it otc
In my family we produce a lot of oil, on our skin and hair. So if I go one day without washing my hair i look like i haven't showered in weeks. The pros of this though, is that we look young till our 60's. My mom was 30 and ppl assumed she was 18 or sometimes 16. Not just that, i can use some cheap shampoo and conditioner- and as long as i wash my hair properly with it, my hair will look soft. I quite literally use head and shoulders, and get compliments all day abt my hair. 💀

@@kaybabe03nah fr it’s crazy the health policies in school.

Omg when I was in 4th grade I had lice for an entire year because my dad didn't want to pay the money for lice treatment and refused to let me put mayo in my hair because "if you just wash it and stop being fuckin disgusting you'll get rid of them." An entire year.

I have to say this absolutely stunning woman telling embarrassing stories about herself is the best content ever.
Cool video! here’s how to make a rock
What you’ll need:
* Used crayons (wax work best)
* A spoon, plastic knife or other
* Aluminum foil
* Water
* A kettle
* A bowl or pot
* Oven mitts
HAHAHA...I'm dying with that last line!!!😂😂😂 You're amazing!!!

I had lice in 6th grade too.
