Looking forward to this TV pilot Movie featuring Richard “Shaft” Roundtree as the first bIack fireman at an aII wht Firehouse….yup, there’s some tension 🙄 I’m hoping someone wiII post episodes of the short-Iived TV series.
This was a short-lived ABC series hoping to capitalize on the success of the hugely successful EMERGENCY series regularly aired on another network as well as the Blaxploitation feature films popular at the time.
The way I see it, it's always wrong to hate someone because of their color or ethnic background. But it's also unfortunate that Shelly chose to defend those who broke into the station and let that kid go. And while not to defend Spike's bigotry, I think he had suspicion because of not only what happened before that, but probably years being at that station dealing with arson fires, and other things he mentions throughout the movie. I do think there was a possibility Spike might have ended up thinking different of Shelly because he went to talk to those kids about pulling that box but then Shelly strays. To bad they wrote the script that way.
