Excellent post!! It's rare that people and places stay the same, so it's really great that you took the time to do this. Buildings come and go and neighborhoods change all the time. I really appreciate it!!
This is my favorite movie ever. Thank you thank you thank you for this! There have been many times watching this movie that I wondered what those streets look like today. I absolutely love this. Thank you.
I lived in Brooklyn back in the mid 90s and would visit Brooklyn Heights every time. Such a lovely place full of class and culture. Was back there to visit in 06 and it was as lovely as ever.
Loved watching this especially since Moonstruck is one of my favorite movies and my son lived on Henry St in Brooklyn Heights for 8 months and I became very familiar with that area. Great job Amber! Margie
I grew up across the street from the moonstruck house on willow and cranberry in Brooklyn Heights. One of my High School friends lived on the bottom floor.
Great job, Ambra! those wonderful architecture in the old part of New York fascinates me. My great-grandmother lived in a Brooklyn brownstone many many years ago.
I'm going to be a total Debbie Downer here. This reminds me of when I visited my hometown for the first time after 20 years. It was a total shock that everything had changed and I almost didn't recognize anything. I had to use a GPS just to be able to find my old house. I hated it. The town I spent my first 15 years in now only exists in my memory. Depressing, I know, but this video instantly made me recall that experience. On a positive note, I love this movie! I could watch it on repeat and not get bored with it. Cher definitely earned her Oscar with this film.
I totally understand you... I lived on 231 9th Str between 3rd and 4th Ave in Brklyn, Park Slope. When I was growing up in the early 80's it was a totally different block then it is now and so unrecognizable. My house is totally changed, the beautiful front lawn is gone and replaced by a driveway, the school and church right across the street, St. Thomas Aquinas, also totally changed. I wish I had pictures of the neighborhood but I never thought I would miss it so much cause I couldn't wait to get away from it as a kid. Now my neighborhood is run by a bunch of "Yuppies & Hipsters" and so expensive to live in.
Wow, thank you Ambra Vittoria, you did a good job !!! I love Moonstruck, I'm from Lugano Canton Ticino Switzerland and I spent two years in Westchester County Upstate NY. Now I understand why I couldn't find the Grand Ticino restaurant in Manhattan ... hi hi hi, Thanks again, bye !
@AmbraVittoria totally understand how you feel, when watching this movie. its a tradition of mine...to watch the movie each year at Christmas....love it....its superb...undeniably romantic...funny and just sweet....
Moonstruck is one of the best movies, Cher looked wonderful ther, and she and Nicolas Cage was great together. Yes it was sad to se The Twinn Towers beside the big moon. What I also love is the beautyfull music, and it was nice to se this video and the locations.
@Indio156 I know exactly how you feel. I'm a 3rd generation New Yorker, 2nd generation Brooklynite. This movie gives me a rush of nostalgia, especially when I see Cammareri bakery because I live a 2 blocks away from it. It's no longer a bakery, but I'm old enought to remember when it was. The neighborhood has gone downhill the last 10 years. It's mostly filled with yuppies these days and as for New York City itself, it's become Disneyland.
The Grand Ticino location is on the corner of West 12th & 4th street in Greenwich Village New York. The fluorescent palm tree light, that is in the window of the apt across the street from the restaurant is still in the window.
Yes, this is my old channel. I figured it out after making this video, I made a note of that in the description ... ended up finding the right place after I made this video
Grand Ticino was one of John Patrick Shanley, the writer's, favorite restaurants. It was on Sullivan Street in the Village and looked nothing like the movie. It was meant to be an homage by using the title. The restaurant is now called something like the dove or the wings of the dove.
Great video. Answering your question "Where's the Met". Are you reffering to the Metropolitan Museum of Art? Also, you forgot the scene shot accross from the church on Court and Congress street.
When the movie came out, my boss told me that my last name appeared in it...so I had to bring my pop to see...sure enough...even better, the biggest kick I got was when the old man was cursing at (or with) the dogs in Italian. My dad was the only one in the theater laughing because he understood the subtleties of the language--he really enjoyed the movie.
Super job on this website Ambravittoria...cool, music, photos all the set up..wallpaper. I especially loved the Patrizio links! O.K. Now I must hit someone with baccala...I think you know what that means. Take care girlfriend!
it's a shame that most of the real points of interst are sadly not there, especially Grand Tocino, and Cammereri's Bakery. At least that house is still there. it was sold for just under 4 million dollars the august (lucky people)
I think this is SO SAD.. I was born and raised in Manhattan, for 53 yrs, and I remember when NYC was great. Now, it's BLOOMTOWN. It's Malled, and ruined, and I WISH I could move to the remote reaches of somewhere like Arizona, and never look back, because it's just SO SAD to see what's happened -- and continues to happen -- to my city.
@AmbraVittoria PITY the people who live in that house, because they have tourists always looking at their house, looking in windows, etc. It's NOT FUN to live in a tourist attraction!
Hate the movie…the screaming, everyone is high strung, only thing good about it are the scenes of my beautiful native New York. Otherwise you can keep the loud, classless ,yelling bunch!
This is so fun! I love the old man and his dogs...Thank you for sharing.

What a wonderful video! Thanks so much for making and uploading it.

This was fantastic. As someone born and raised in Brooklyn, I really appreciated this video. Thank you.
Absolutely superb!!! Bellissimo!!! I love this movie-- and what fascinating photos! I had no idea the opening footage of Loretta walking was in SoHo!
Loved watching this especially since Moonstruck is one of my favorite movies and my son lived on Henry St in Brooklyn Heights for 8 months and I became very familiar with that area. Great job Amber!
Margie
Yesterday was a fine day for me but Today is even Better! because I could enjoy the work You have done for Us - Moonstrucks Thank you
I grew up across the street from the moonstruck house on willow and cranberry in Brooklyn Heights. One of my High School friends lived on the bottom floor.
if that's the case would you like to be my Loretta and I can be your Ronnie ???
Yes that totally works for me!
That is awesome. I dont know why I always wished I could live in that house.
Great job, Ambra! those wonderful architecture in the old part of New York fascinates me. My great-grandmother lived in a Brooklyn brownstone many many years ago.
This was wonderful. I was in the Cranberry Street neighborhood last weekend and your video brings it all to life.

That's so awesome! Brooklyn looks like a place where it would be easy to grow roots. Not pretentious at all, but full of charm nonetheless.
Amazing job on this video! Moonstruck is an all-time classic.
GREAT job putting this compilation together, what a pleasure to watch being such a fan of this movie!
This was really nice, thank you.
A labor of love! Thank you.
Moonstruck is one of the best movies, Cher looked wonderful ther, and she and Nicolas Cage was great together. Yes it was sad to se The Twinn Towers beside the big moon. What I also love is the beautyfull music, and it was nice to se this video and the locations.
Thank you for posting this lovely video....its amazing..

Love this video. I'm crazy over Sullivan St. Nice to see it on You Tube.
The photos are wonderful. Barbara
Nice; but Grand Ticino was filmed on 12th Street in Manhattan; the corner of Hicks and Cranberry (where the vet was) is still a vet's office.
Yes, ended up finding the right place after. Something seemed off about this one.

Most of the shops are actually in Little Italy manhattan and not Brooklyn and yes, sadly most are closed, changed

The Grand Ticino...I know that was in manhattan but for the sake of the movie was that supposed to be in Brooklyn Heights near the castorini home?
Great movie , one of the saddest things is there is a lot of shots of the Twin Towers across the river.
BRAVO!!!
so cool!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That skyline has changed so much. That's a pretty swanky neighborhood.
Interesting and Fun to Watch - Great Job!
Nice Job!
It’s been 13 years! Time for a “Then and Now and Now” update ;)
Great video. Answering your question "Where's the Met". Are you reffering to the Metropolitan Museum of Art? Also, you forgot the scene shot accross from the church on Court and Congress street.
Thats not to long back only 20 years and New york does not change that much lol
wow! You've found it all, great job.
Hey wait, where's the beauty salon, did i miss it?
Very Cool Indeed!
I'm confused !
When the movie came out, my boss told me that my last name appeared in it...so I had to bring my pop to see...sure enough...even better, the biggest kick I got was when the old man was cursing at (or with) the dogs in Italian. Loved that and NYC
Super job on this website Ambravittoria...cool, music, photos all the set up..wallpaper. I especially loved the Patrizio links! O.K. Now I must hit someone with baccala...I think you know what that means. Take care girlfriend!
I remember the Luna restaurant still being there til 2007. 😢
Bravo,Good job guys.Cheers,Blozo P.S. Stre bene! Ciao.
oh my god.. i hope to live in cranberry street in a couple of years.. i'd like to have a life and a family like the moonstruck characthers..!!
One helluva town!
I understand there were many scenes shot in Toronto...
Gostei deste filme e sobretudo da canção de Dean Martin...
It looked better then
it's a shame that most of the real points of interst are sadly not there, especially Grand Tocino, and Cammereri's Bakery.

Man it is juts sad to see how all of these places have become so commercialized. The city, compared to that time, looks like a theme park.
it was more beautiful earlier :)
No real changes
