great list! more yt guitarists need to make top 10 of the decade lists instead of making the same top 10 lists with the same riffs of zeppelin and acdc and metallica etc
They're all just factory presets with a couple modifications. I made them on the fly and didn't save any while I made them 😐 which ones are you curious for? I can point you in the right direction
Cooper Carter How did you get that Redbone effect? Sounded like an envelope filter, but the AceFX 3 doesn’t have that a s a block, as far as I know. Is it just an autowah? Did this come from a factory preset? Thanks!
@@67GuitarGeek the Axe does have an envelope filter. Just attach a filter block frequency to the envelope controller. But I used an auto wah. Just attached the way control to the envelope.
Great video! I wasn't going to be the "why wasn't this in it" guy, but I guess I can't hold myself back. I'm curious that there were no picks from Slash's solo career. While the song themselves aren't musical masterpieces, they lean very heavy on guitar work and countless innovative riffs. This being the most 'Iconic' riffs, I can see not many getting the pick as they weren't really that famous, but certain songs like Anastasia really shook the online guitar world. Any insight why it wasn't picked other than just not being as iconic as the rest?
Here's hoping someone or some band can rescue pop music from the guitarless overproduced swill that's currently everywhere. 2020s not shaping up to be a guitar friendly decade in the mainstream so far...
Hey, I'm happy to notice we shared some song in our lists, but I have to tell you that many riffs I hadn't thought about were here and some others I have never heard and are really good (like #2). Nice guitars BTW !
As an old school hard rock guy I’d have liked to have seen entries from Maiden, Rush, acdc, Aerosmith ,megadeth etc, but I appreciate the few that were in there like Van Halen, Metallica, alter bridge, dream theater. Still, I’m amazed slash and Myles aren’t in there though as that band was a tour de force this decade with three of the very best hard rock albums we could hope to ever get, each one a veritable factory of awesome riffs. On the less obvious side, I’d also have the winery dogs in there, much overlooked supergroup with two fantastic albums this decade. All in all a good list though that will make most people happy 🤘🏻🎸
Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉🍾
I typo'd #1. It's 2016 not 2011!!!
At number 1 I was like "well done sir"!!!!
I have to say, it's rare that I find one of these videos I agree with. Very solid choices.
I thought you were going to do the riff after the intro for Wit's End by Dream Theater for #1...what a sick riff. But your list was cool nonetheless.
yeah that riff is one of the best just because of how well it is mixed with the piano and the bass and the drums
I was expecting at least one Black Country Communion/Winery Dogs riff, but that's was really cool!
A channel of this quality should have more viewers! Nice vid!
I agree 😉🙏🏻
Didn’t expect to have the 1975 on here
Just stellar! Great chops and tones.
great list!

Yeahhhh !
Thank you for this year mr. Carter !
Overflow of talent dude 💯
I submit unto thee: Breaking the covenant fro. The halo 2 remastered soundtrack by Misha Mansoor
I love Dream Theater you have my respect sir for playing this band in this video \m/ Happy new year
I would add Lonely Boy by the Black Keys and its a pretty solid list
Killer vid! Happy new year! One small tweak, Astonishing by DT was 2016 not 2011.
See the top comment.
I did after.....I’m vacationing in the mountains and things load slow here. Sorry!
Thanks Carter. Happy New Year!
Dream Theater made a lot of good riffs in this decade + The last album is Amazing!!!
Great video. Love how you used all kinds of music
Pumped Up Kicks is one I definitely have over-looked
Bring back some nostalgia
Dats a lot of music mans! Are you endorsed or just a big fan?
Endorsed! Check out some of my demos for them on this channel
Amazing! Sounds great, excellent picks. Are you able to share some of those patches?
That HARDWIRED tone was nothing short of exceptional!! any way you can share that??!! PLEASE
It's the rhythm scene of the Petrucci Rig preset in the Axe-Fx III
Any chance to get some of those tones on Axe-Change?

I'd be interested in knowing more about the presets for Rope and the lead on Bright Lights, Big City. That fuzz is unreal.
Terrifying SHODAN looking vibe, totally works tho

They hit the intersect of the just not well known enough and I'm just not a big enough fan curves 😅🤷🏼♂️
@@coopercarter Fair enough. Thanks for the response!
that Paramore transition ❤️
I think Gojira on L’Enfant Sauvage (2012) and Magma (2016) made a lot of interesting riffs
Tame impala?
I would have added Let Her Go by The Passengers and Square Hammer by Ghost
Here's hoping someone or some band can rescue pop music from the guitarless overproduced swill that's currently everywhere. 2020s not shaping up to be a guitar friendly decade in the mainstream so far...
What’s the guitar you used for Muse the 2nd law? It looks like a Valentine with a Trem
You got it!
I just checked their site. I never knew they made them with a Trem now. Thanks
@@bigdecodeco check out my demo on this channel! It's a great one
Isolation! 🤘
Fuck yeah 🤘🤘
Dream Theater - Paralyzed!
Feel Invincible
mark tremonti is the riff master
EVERYONE SUCKS DREAM THEATER 10/10
It'd be nice if you had time stamps
Really disappointed GOAT wasn’t on here :(
NLND has better riffs than this list. Its funny.
Whew boy, here's to doing better in the 2020s!
Next time you should add Dystopia by Megadeth
You mean the next time it's the end of the 2010s decade? 🙃😉
@@coopercarter Yes! Another 25 GREATEST 😎🌹
did everyone forget the devil in i?
no black keys?
Psycho- muse?
we have the same eclectic ass taste haha
Ayyyyy, Jebaited
the mixes and tones are much FAT.
the licks are many heat
the musicians ship rides smooov
a like for you!!
Someone likes Ernie Ball
Metallica !
Thumb down because you included some of the worst riffs as well imo. taylor swift but no megadeth? dude what is wrong with you.
*pop sux*
lmao probably left out GOAT by Polyphia because it's too hard to play
Yeah, not why I left it out.
Polyphia has much more unique riffs. 1/3 of these riffs here are pretty generic and not recognizable and certainly not unique.
Do I wanna know by arctic monkeys should be on no.1
By lord no
This video really reminds me of how awesome 2010s were for guitar!
Hey, I'm happy to notice we shared some song in our lists, but I have to tell you that many riffs I hadn't thought about were here and some others I have never heard and are really good (like #2). Nice guitars BTW !
Great collection of riffs Cooper! Do you have a tab for Go by Valley Lodge? Is it tuned down a halfstep?
Had a pretty good hunch where you were going with #1

8:21 I was yelling "fuck yeah Dream Theatre" until you played that Despacito riff lol. Glad it was a joke lmao
Where is Polyphia on this list?!
Prejudice is the answer.
The Get Lucky one just seems like rhythm guitar with a little flare??
Great video man! Heard some good stuff I haven’t listened to in awhile. Really loved the Paramore riff
Sounds sick Cooper!
How do you define a riff?
Check out our interview with Cooper Carter here! www.podomatic.com/podcasts/coverbandconfidential/episodes/2019-09-12T06_08_01-07_00
The G.O.A.T riff is nice…
Goat the worst saucy > this list
How are your two petruccis setup? what tuning and gauges?
You nailed all the tones! Amazing!
I would've put nightmare over welcome to the family imo
Dude you missed No roots! To me that's smoke on the water of this decade ahahah
Can’t beat the arctic monkeys
Yes but were is psycho by Muse??
Our new world is truly art
Awesome!
You missed Psycho by Muse!
I put in the right Muse riff.
AWESOME! I can't LIKE this enough!!! Well done maestro!
dude the number 9 of AAL.. you picked the wrong riff rofl.. pretty sure the good one is the intro !
