Original Ariel doll look so pretty! The problem with the live action dolls is that they try to make the dolls have realistic features. My personal fav is Cinderella, she has realistic features but it still looking pretty..Lily James is too pretty for that 😂
but what I noticed in The Little Mermaid doll is that she has bigger eyes than in real. I saw other realistc dolls potraying Halle and they all had small realistic eyes and it makes them look so creepy and weird. I’m happy they decided to not make it too realistic 😂

The whole point of a live action is to make the characters look realistic. Halles doll look more realistic while Ariels doll look like a cartoon. Both are beautiful in their own way, Halle isn't supposed to look like she came from the same animation as the og ariel. Halle don't have big egg shaped eyes like Ariel cause she's a real person so they made her dolls facial features match how she looks in the movie. There's nothing creepy about a doll having normal sized eyes either, I think it's more creepy when I can see a dolls giant eyes from across a room😂.

They didn’t have to make it bright red, but I’m black and I’m a little browner than Halle and I’ve had red hair darker than that, so part of me does kinda wish they gave her hair a little more red, but maybe they couldn’t find any locs in that specific red color, either way she still killed it! She did things her own way for this movie “spiced it up” if you will and for her to look exactly like the OG Ariel wouldn’t have really sparked it that much, I think their motive was to make her look 100% different because this is Halle’s Ariel, but Ariel nonetheless, the message is, anyone can be Ariel in their own way ☺️

I think what I love about Halle playing Ariel is that her eyes are more separate from each other and her face in general is very ethereal and she just looks like if she were to be born as something else in a different life it would be a mermaid yk? Halles fins are more beautiful than the og Ariels because they're more realistic and they actually cost alot because its CGI! OG Ariel was hand drawn and had basic green fins, her sisters were all just carbon copies of each other which looked pretty cheap to me compared to the new sisters! The OG Ariel was cheaper to make in general so there's no comparison.

I have a couple of collector dolls (Integrity Jem dolls; Disney)that not only look accurate to their characters, but have many points of articulation (head/,houlders, elbows, wrists, chest, waist, hips,knees and ankles) various hands to swap out for alternate gestures/poses, an alternate outfit, accessories and a box that converts into a dressing room.
For $150, they could have done/offered so much more to make this doll worth that price (example - the top/tail look removable - why not throw in her dress/hairband to change her appearance if you want to switch things up? Why not more points of articulation so the doll owner could mimic a scene from the movie?)
While this doll is unquestionably pretty, she honestly just looks a little ritzier than the cheaper variant you can find in Target/Wal-Mart). This also applies to the animated version of the doll (why does she look so glammed up when compared to her animated self?)
