Dave is currently and has been the best lyricist in the world without a doubt in my mind, mans only 22 and has been doing this since he was 16. His story is another thing if people don’t know about it he had two older brothers one died in a knife crime and the other got sentenced to life in prison in involvement in a murder, his father was deported back to Nigeria when he was only a few months old and his mum was the only one providing for the family but working a shitty paid job as a nurse. People with darker stories end up more amazing

How the first time you hear him say he got 99 marks you think he's bragging about how good he is with words, then he flips it to be about how hard he works and then he calls back to it at the end of the album and when he says he didn't get 99 you think he's revealing the truth, admitting he made it up so the bar sounds good but instead he reveals that its because he doesn't understand what a vacation is, which links back to the not being able to rest and to write all of that so that it rhymes but have it only make sense if you've heard the prior song is just some next level wordsmithery from Dave

If you listen to the full album in one of the songs after Leslie in the track list, he says something about breaking the 4th wall and basing Leslie on his relative.. basically the girl in the song is a family member and in screenplay/storytelling there’s something called the 4th wall where you relate your personal story to the story your telling ( something along those line don’t hate me if I’m not 100% accurate)

Dave is the best current rapper, and he earned that title with We're All Alone In This Together. Truly an incredible album, as a hip-hop head I think it has an argument for the top 10 rap albums of all time. Certainly the best rap album since To Pimp A Butterfly, and the craziest thing is that Dave is nowhere near done. I have no doubt that by the end of his career, Dave will be a top 10 rapper of all time, and we have to recognize the generational talent that is in front of us the same way we did with Kendrick and Eminem in years past.
