I'm glad I grew up with friends that loved to share their toys, and were always fun to be around even without any toys at all. The 1970's was a Groovier Time.
I haven't been to a Toy Collectors fare in nearly 30 years brings back some old memories for me!☺Growing up through the 70's/80's apart from Dr Who, Star Trek & Space 1999 etc... I also liked Buck Rogers and The Black Hole, I had a clockwork Vincent Toy and some Buck Rogers Toys including both Large & Small Corgi Starfighters, some role play stuff including a belt & helmet set with a light up Twiki figure and one of these sets included a chrome plated hollow Starfighter, I remember I always wanted a Wilma Deering figure!😊😉 As Always another Great video Brian, Keep up the Good work!😁👍
I am always amazed at how well preserved some of the toys sold at these markets are. That Red Tornado is going to make his friend extremely happy. The fact that someone looked after that cape for all these years is nothing short of incredible.
@@BrickMantooth Frankly, the fact that you found soft goods that old in that condition is astonishing. It was a great find at a great price. Thanks for allowing your audience to tag along. Plaid Stallions Rule!
The music and "wipes" have moved into the next level. I thought you were going home with the Star Trek Phaser water pistol but alas it was a McGuffin! The Operation Crossbow comic would have been what I took home. Love that you are into things that are inexpensive like Canadian Mego.
I have that toy book! Over the last decade plus I’ve searched out & purchased nearly all of the known toy & collectibles books published since the 90’s, which could be found on Amazon Canada and eBay for MUCH cheaper prices than they are now. It kinda came as a result of selling off parts of my collection over time, but still needing that “catalogue” type fix that’s been jonesing me since the mid 70’s Christmas editions from Sears, Eaton’s & Consumers Distributing. My motto became: If I can’t afford to own these plastic pieces of my childhood, or I sold it, then dadgummit I can at least have (as you said Brian) an analog version I can return to and look through.
I used to enjoy going to antique malls when the toy hype was not as big as it is today. You could usually find a booth or two with old Mego figures, Micronauts, GIJoe and, if you were lucky; GIJoe equipment or a huge vehicle. Prices were fair and you could find stuff to complete your collections or maybe a grail or two. Nowadays, I go to the antique mall in Edmonton and gasp at the prices for a broken shell of a Star Wars toy, notice all the old Star Wars figures locked away and treated like rare gems and a boxed vintage toy is removed from a case and held high like Simba at the beginning of the Lion King.
So many cool army builders back then, I still can't believe we never got any golden Ming/Flash Gorden robot figures. Even nowadays from Super 7 or somewhere.
Had a couple figures from both the Black Hole and Buck Rogers sets as a kid. They looked great, but the thumbs snapped off after a month of play. Not up to the imaginative play of my my younger self. Love the funky montage music
I had that Star Trek watergun back in the day. I'd spend my afternoons phasering myself in my mouth for a sip of water. Sanford and Son's looked like a great place! Also I think I might have contributed some pictures for that Action Figure book back in the day... I guess I should dig my copy out and look.
Every single time there is a VINTAGE TOY SHOW in my area: It's 79% Funko Pops and Star Wars (2000-2023) / re-issue Aurora model kits . And one or 2 "vintage old guys" with CRAZY HIGH prices on Low End Megos (Wizard of Oz loose / dirty / played with , Zira naked, Farrah doll with her hair chopped off) .
Your $1 Black Hole action figure day in 1981 reminds me of my 50 cent Mattel Battlestar Galactica day in 1980 here in Melbourne, Australia. The department store was called Venture.
Tiger Man, Princess Ardalla's bodyguard/male concubine. A show ahead of it's time. Speaking of classic t.v., Supermad Toys put out two Six Million Dollar Man figures about 3-4 years ago. If you've never seen them, they're amazing (a track suit version and a "Bigfoot Safari" hunter version). Both have several youtube vids you might be interested to watch.
That Astro station is my grail. Some kid always had it or so it seemed. I always played with it even in it's sometimes incomplete state. ❤ Love your haul btw. And YOUR Fred Sanford lol.
I collect gold key comics and at the antique mall I spied a Doctor solar comic and a Turok son of stone and the Turok is a 20 cent Canadian price variant, someday I'd like to make a road trip to Ontario and visit the antique malls and comic shops.
I watched one of newest videos there is an old ad for a place Franklin mall themed around Ben Franklin . The commercial has Ben teach people how to do the Franklin slide . So maybe as a short Ben can teach the apes and some other megos how to do the Franklin slide .
Great pickups! I was at the TO show later in the day and spent quite a bit on a grail item. Is Sanford and Son close the GO train station? Sounds like a great mid-winter afternoon.
You can almost see Sanford and Son from the Barrie GO Station. There are some buildings/fences in the way so you have to go around but it's only a couple of blocks.
13:25 1990s prices ! LOL ! Funny story ; a few months ago I was at the flea market and scored a STACK of Toy Shop tabloids/newspapers at a local flea market . 1990 - 1992 era. I was imagining ALL kinds of CRAZY cheap prices and OODLES of RARE toys going for CHEAP . WOW was I wrong!! the early 1990s was when Adult Toy Collecting was FULLY in place in our society . The guys that had RARE stuff wanted TOP DOLLAR (it was like flexing your "toy muscle") . Some of the ads - were AUCTIONS . Lots of the tuff for sale was new-ish like Pee Wee Herman, Dick Tracy , MASH, & Return of the Jedi (Jedi was barely 9 years old!!) . And basic stuff like Charlies Angels dolls and lunch boxes and Soakys and board games. Total let down.
That Jaguar Lives movie is James Bond rip off junk but it has an INSANE supporting cast, Christopher Lee, Donald Pleasence, Barbara Bach, Woody Strode and John Huston.
I just kick myself for what we pay for Tiger Man today when I remember the bargain bins being full of him and Draco for a buck each… Same with Zellers and the dollar bin Star Wars Figures… I think I’m gonna be sick…😂✌️🤘🇨🇦
Always love it when you go on the road!!
Me too!

I'm as excited as you sir. Hello Brian 💯👍
Great job. Cool stuff.
Thanks for the tour 😊
Ooooh S.T.A.R! 🙂

It blew me away how nice it was!

Some interesting resin and vinyl model kit build-ups at the 11:00 mark! Really something that you don't see that often at an antique mall.
I hope you signed that copy of your own book... that would have been amazing for any prospective buyer!
If I had a pen I totally would have.
great pickups on the vintage carded buck rogers and black hole figures. i still want to reclaim my own set again one day.

The antique mall had the mad balls vehicle 😮 super rare can go for hundreds loose

How expensive was that Shogun Warrior????

Funko Pops are a scourge on collecting.

I missed this one. I was sick. But ill be there today for the comic show! Looks awesome!
The fall guy toy and tiger man I had and used to make him a a contract hit man for Boba Fett and use in in the star / Roger's universe lol
Thank you for sharing. I would have bought a Six Million Dollar Man action figure or a couple Mego Star Trek : The Motion Picture action figures.

Talking toys must be good for you as you look way to young to only be a year younger than me 😂 nice scores Brian 🎉
Micronauts in the box, bliss. Star Trek TMP also nice! Buck Rogers was on the big screen in Canada, did you see it in theaters Brian?
No I didn't go to the movies much as a kid.
@@BrickMantooth I would never guess that !
What's the big skull looking like a big . Potato Head thing looks cool

Hands down I'd have grabbed up that Humanoids From The Deep resin kit.
True story, a good friend of mine sculpted that, he now works on significant movies like "The Shape of Water" ironically enough.
I need to start looking for an Ernest Borgnine figure…
I wonder if Mr Borgnine ever expected to be a collectible action figure, better known by his own name than that of his character. :)
07:15 Does anyone know what those doll-size DC figures are?
Applause released them in the late 1980s/early 1990s. I remember seeing them in Spencer Gifts.

@@chrisstone5607 Thanks! Took a look on Google Street View and it doesn't look like much food's nearby...maybe a spring trip, then.
What are those instrumental tracks playing during the montages?
I get them from a service.
@@BrickMantooth groovy then soulful - I like it.
I think some of those boxed Atari games would have been coming home with me, if they were not too insanely priced.

PEGWARMERS ! 10:54 Dick tracy minor characters & Robin Hood minor characters !!!!
No comic book character was like Doctor Solar Man of The Atom.
That Jaguar Lives movie is James Bond rip off junk but it has an INSANE supporting cast, Christopher Lee, Donald Pleasence, Barbara Bach, Woody Strode and John Huston.
I have to have seen that, I love JB clone movies.
What happened to mego? Did they go out of business again?
Dr. Steel, is he friend is he foe? Dr. Steel a member of the P.A.C.K. Well that was short-lived.

I recall a wall of black hole humanoids.
Most Americans don't want ANYTHING with French writing.
