I'm currently making a paracord snake whip, and was hoping to find something other than that blocky knot (E) that everyone uses. I was hoping to find names for various knots to make internet searches easier. I like the oval shaped knot, and have seen some whips that seem to have the knot plaited directly into the overlay, rather than being placed over it. I can't find any tutorials for this style, but I would imagine it's probably a bit too complicated for a beginner.
Awesome video thank you. Question for you, where did you buy the lead you added? What was its original purpose? I would like to try and source it locally. Thanks again.
I get mine from a fishing store that sells supplies for making lures and so on. They come in sheets of about 10 by 4 inches. When cutting out those sheets they get a lot of scraps/uneven cuts they can't use or sell but they're perfect for me (with a bit of trimming). So I sometimes get the sheets and sometimes some scraps to a good price.
@@tbl513 They're 1mm thick. I find that to be just about perfect as I can wrap it snug around the base + easily adjust how much weight I ad to the heel. I'n this vid only one wrap was needed, on other whips I might need another wrap ontop of the first. In this instance the first wrap of lead was 1'' wide. If I needed another one I'd make that about 7/8'' wide to help with forming the base shape of the knot. But the final shaping is done with the sinew.
Great video! I’m always looking to make my foundations better and I’ve learned a lot!! Thank you!
