Knot tactical on RUclips has a good series on tying turk’s heads. He stresses understanding how they, along with HB and Gaucho interweaves, work so you don’t have to rely on run lists. Worth checking out; I learned quite a bit. Great vid, I’m just learning to tie on the end of handles. Thanks for sharing. Donald
This is a beautiful tutorial! I’ve been getting desperate to find a video that showed not just the knot but tightening, finishing the strands, and molding. Thank you!!
I've got a few more things to learn before I move forward with my plans of learning this beautifu craft... My dad was a true master knots and braiding and over all leather crafts even tanning his own hides.. He wasnt so much a master at whips..as he was bridal, Bozels and hackamores. I just never had a desire. To learn the Knots... Now he's gone and ain't coming back . now I wanna learn... You were the first I seen on YT so it'll be you that I will try to learn from.. I can't really see what is taking place as you talk.. So I'll be patient.. And I'll stfu and watch your instructions with great attention... Your work looks like high quality. beautiful detail..
Just fabulous and thank you so much for sharing your tutorial! Just like you I struggle to remember all under and over and x bites doubling up 🙈. I tried so many times with other tutorials, using my fingers, mandrels etc ... nothing worked for me. I just watched your video, then I picked up my paracord riding crop, and started weaving with you! I just came out fabulous ! Wished I could show it. So keep up that awsome work and I’m eager to see new creations of your craft.
hey big boss, is there a jig to do this faster ? I've seen mandrels online but not sure the one that is correct for a snake whip handle, I'm looking for the fastest way to knot
Fastest way is tying it straight onto the whip like in the video. In the video I'm going slow but tying this knot takes about 5 minutes. Then a bit extra for tightening. I've never used jigs so I don't know much about them. But what kind of jig would depend on what kind of knot you're tying. Jigs are slower because then you have to transfer the knot to your work. Again, quicker to just tie it on.
What's up Carl! I'll handle that particular subject and a few more things (foundation shapes and constructions and so on) in an upcoming video. If all goes to plan I'll have that out sometime this upcoming week. 👍
Nice tips. This was my problem with other tutorials as well. Step by step rather than guidelines for knot tying. Thanks!

Beautiful knot johnny. Thank you for taking the time for this tutorial.
Sweet my friend, much thanks for the video.

What is a good kangaroo hide for whips? Thanks
Vegtan and drumstuffed.
Can you do a pineapple knot next?
The next one will be a 7 by 6 two pass. Then comes the pineapple.
@@WitchcraftWhips Cool!
How did you determine the width of the strand?

Oh I wished you you would’ve used a contrasting material or better lighting. Love your work but this video was hard to watch.
