Thanks for sharing! Both the reasons for purchasing an e-bike and the choice of bike are similar to mine. I'm fortunate that my injury was a lot less traumatic than yours, but I still ended up with nerve damage and lost most of the power in my right leg literally over night. I've recovered to the point where I can kind of ride a normal mountain bike off road, but I struggle everywhere you'd have to put the power down to clear any trail feature, and riding around here is pretty technical. I rolled the dice and bought a Rail 5 unseen without ever putting my legs over an e-mtb, and I'm very happy I did. The Bosch motor covers for my lacking power very smoothly. I guess we're lucky e-mtbs came around when they did!
Jon...I agree. We are pretty lucky to have them come along now so we can continue to ride. Glad you are able to get out there and enjoy the trails as well! Keep healing up!
Great video! I just ordered my 9.8 XT 2021 model for exactly the same reasons after trying one. It's 173 days till delivery!!! (May next year) And it was the cheapest of the remaining models mind you!! Everything sold out like hotcakes. I especially chose Trek because the bike shop where I have been a customer for decades is a big Trek retailer with the best reputation. I am a qualified bike mechanic but these are quite sophisticated and expensive machines and having a solid dealer backing is the most important factor. When I asked about the bike the shop owner immediately offered me to lend his personal bike for testing before I even thought about asking for test days. Test day was just ...... well, tomorrow. Now I am counting down, it's going to be a looong winter......
and yet that not true, I rode a turbo levo works for a week and still bought the rail 9.8xt AND the trek does not have never ending issues like the levo. ask any honest LBS and they will tell you number 1 bike that comes in over and over is the turbo levo.
Hi , the comment about the yt decoy was exactly the way I feel and made my decision, I also bought a trek. And if I need maintenance or warranty it goes local.
How do you like the Santa Cruz Heckler? Budget aside and not factoring price? Would you still have selected it over 29'er Trek if the price is not a concern?
I actually loved the Heckler. I prefer the Bosch motor but the Heckler was more "playful". The combination of their geometry and 27.5 wheels is a great combo.
The real issue with Santa Cruz is the pricing with all of their bikes. They are really proud of them and it shows in the pricing. That said...they are great and people are buying them so the market dictates pricing. It's great for them and it is just part of doing business.
@@Bike198 Thanks, great feedback. I'm debating between the two 2021 Rail 9.8 or Heckler CC S. Tough decision and you just made it harder! LOL I have experience with VPP (Tallboy) so definitely, I'm familiar with SC geometry and handling.
It is. It color shifts so in certain light it looks purple..then blue..even some gold. It reminds me of the old school Ford Mustang paint from back in the day.

Theirry, the bike industry is crazy right now on lead times. There is no stock out there!
I have a 2021 bulls copperhead top of the line, and still just bought this had too.
Levo checks all your boxes, annihilates the competition, and looks the best. Win/win ✅✅

Nice breakdown and sweet bike! 🤘

My Decoy is bad ass but the Bosch Motor is so much better then the E8000

Great comments. I'm in same situation. How tall are you and what size did you end up with? I'm 5' 9" and torn between medium or large.
Kris, I am 6'1" and was in-between the L and XL. I went large and I am really glad I did.
