hi, i have a failing hard drive. so i decided to get a 250 GB Samsung 860 EVo. Now im planning to set up a fresh install of windows 10 on my SSD. The ssd will be on old slot of hdd. Not gonna use previous hdd whatsoevr. My question is : what changes do i have to do in BIOS ? Thanks :)
Just check your bios to make sure its set to see your SSD like in the video. If you have problems loadings Windows 10 then remove all ram except for 1 stick of ram. Once Windows 10 is installed then reinstall the ram you took out.
Hey sir idk if you're checking comments still but I need a little bit of assistance from you. I have basically turned my SD card into a hard drive ( not SSD BTW) and cloned all of my OS files (system files) into the SD card. However now I would like to use my SD card as my primary boot so I can delete my OS files from my local disk to get space. And my SD card no where seems so appear on BIOS. I've been struggling for almost a week and if you have any knowledge helping me would literally make my day. Thanks!
If there isn't any solution of that. Do u have any knowledge on how to turn your external hard drive ( my SD card) as the system hard drive? Since I got all of my OS files cloned to my SD card is there any way I can make the SD card ( which is now a hard drive) into a system hard drive?
Jim, we have a Dell Inspiron 5755 with a dead HD. Just purchased a new Samsung SSD 850 EVO but cannot get bio to recognize it when booting. We get the 'X No bootable devices' screen. Do you have any tips?

I need to disable my old HDD for a week or so and don't see the setting in Lenovo. I thought I was deleting files off of my old HDD (C drive) yesterday ( I was in the correct files!!), but turns out it was from my newly-cloned SSD (D drive). So, before I try to format the old HDD, I want to use the SSD alone for a while.
Your bios will be different from mine. Go in your bios settings and look for HDD you should be able to disable it so your bios doesn't see it. Save and exit.Other way to do it is physically disconnect in removing the cable and power supply. Probably just the cable.
In my BIOS only IDE option appears with my WD hard disk connected, does that mean my motherboard does not support AHCI? or when I connect a SSD it will appear my option with AHCI?
Try Sata mode maybe your bios is different but if it doesn't work try looking in your bios it could be under some other menu. Try Sata see if it loads.
@@JimMcLaren1950 yes because the HDD I'm using broke and the repairman said I need to replace it and suggested using SDD instead because it was faster but charging me too much. I decided to buy the SSD on my own and replace it by myself.
The bios is there . It displays the key on start up to press to get into the bios. Sometimes you have to depress the key several times rapidly to get into the bios.
My Pc turns on when ssd is not plugged in and i can go to a bios settings, but when i plug it in nothing happens and Pc won't turn on. What could be the problem?
I would try this. go into your bios. go into your Main settings, look for Storage configuration. Click on that then in the ON Chip Sata Channel set to (enable), on same page set Chip Sata type to AHCI save changes, Shut down computer then plug in your Sata drive.

Depends on your motherboard.
Mine was hit the DEL key constantly to get into the bios.
It will show you the key on screen when it boots up.

Try it with just 1 stick of Ram. If all the settings in the Bios are correct you may have a bad SSD,

When I try booting up I get an error saying

Yes should work. Watch the video you have to make changes in bios so it can find the drive.
Hello i have same problem i whant to boot from windoos usb stick but it keeps looping the ddr samsung its a new by clean disk and y whant to put windows 10 on it from usb boot
You have to set the USB as the first boot device, in your Bios. Its sees the Samsung DDR as the first boot device,
Thx bro
Your welcome.
So quick step gonna be:
1. Remove/change the RAM
2. Make sure onchip SATA enable
3. Make sure SATA type AHCI
Is that correct?
1-Remove ram except for 1 stick of ram. Once windows 10 installed put all ram sticks back in.
2-Yes
3-Yes

I can’t find the onchip sata channel option
Make sure your Sata is connected.

Is the SSD formatted, that maybe why it doesn't show up in the boot.
Does this require a usb and is it optional if you don't wanna take your ram out, also I'm hesitating not knowing if this will clear out all my data
You don't have to remove your ram. In my case it helped. You could probably do it without the USB .

Check in your bios your boot up devices. Hard drive should be your first boot up device. Also check in bios if it recognizes your hard drive.
