On the fishing charter boat, whether it's lobsters or fish, they work very unconventional hours, sometimes "away" at sea for days at a time, they want to be paid accordingly, putting-in 16-18 hour days. Tassie lobster fishermen are Happy-as-Larry catching the local lobsters, the "Reds" & "Brindle's", make good coin, selling to China, their main "enemy" is the Squids, that eat into their profits. *Note: Professional "fishermen" are doing a great job, and should be "supported" with ...........DIRECT SALES FROM THE PIER, TO THE PUBLIC..... are not stacking-up, lagging way behind, with working as a brickie paying better I imagine, the "bricks & blocks" weighing
5-10 pounds and not 180 pounds wringing wet, you get to go home at 3pm, work an even 8 hour day, have lunch at 11.30,
clock-off at 3, and see the missus at 3.45, eat a sandwich and crack open a beer by 3.55, just like clockwork. On the fishing
charter boat, whether it's lobsters or fish, they work very unconventional hours, sometimes "away" at sea for days at a time,
they want to be paid accordingly, putting-in 16-18 hour days. Tassie lobster fishermen are Happy-as-Larry catching the local
lobsters, the "Reds" & "Brindle's", make good coin, selling to China, their main "enemy" is the Squids, that eat into their profits.
*Note: Professional "fishermen" are doing a great job, and should be "supported" with ...........DIRECT SALES FROM THE PIER,
TO THE PUBLIC..... RESTAURANTEURS, CAFE-OWNERS, BUSINESSES & FAMILIES, BUYING DIRECT WITH CASH OR EFTPOS.
WITH THE TASSIE LOBSTER FISHERMEN SELLING DIRECT "TO THE PUBLIC". THE SAME IN MAINE, WHERE A CAFE-OWNER
MAKES "LOBSTER-ROLLS" (THE LOCAL PRODUCT) VALUE-ADDING, AND "MOVES" 1000 LOBSTER ROLLS PER DAY, SELLING
AT A REASONABLE $10 PER ROLL, HE EVEN LOOKS LIKE HE EATS A FEW ROLLS HIMSELF. IT'S A "ROUND BUSINESS" FOR
THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, WHERE THERE IS WORK ON THE BOAT, ON THE PIER, ON THE FACTORY FLOOR, IN THE KITCHEN,
IN THE CAFE. THEY EVEN EXPORT "LOBSTER MEAT" IN SACHETS "TO AMERICA", SELL LIVE LOBSTERS, AND THEIR SHELLS,
WHICH ARE LEFT-OVER FROM THE "MEAT HARVESTING", USED FOR VITAMINS & MINERALS. ALL VERY VALUABLE EXPORTS
FOR THE "LOCALS" ...........ALSO APPARENTLY, THERE IS "SOME CULTURES" THAT DON'T LIKE "CRUSTACEANS"?? WHY??
BECAUSE THEY ARE "EASTMAL PUPPETMANIC'S" - WHO COME FROM THE DESERTS OF THE MIDDLE-EAST - THAT'S WHY.
its z craw CRAY FISH YOU SHPOULD NOT EAT THEM
Warm water lobsters are not as good as cold water lobsters and should be much cheaper.
You've never tried Bulldozers then! They used to be a bycatch on shrimp boats, look like a giant pillbug but boy are they sweet and tasty 😋! I used to get them free from my shrimper friends back in the 80s. Now everyone knows about them and they cost more than lobster 🙄! They renamed them Slippery lobster I think 🤔
@@julialaw6471 lucky you!
LOL its amazing how people are terrible at guessing weights. A commercial lobster trap weighs about 45 to 60 pounds NOT 120 pounds. 180 traps do not weigh 21,600 pounds Hello That's 10.6 TONS, could sink that boat . At best 180 traps weigh 9,000 lbs.
Only a matter of time till Chinese own all that business
Now that the Chinese only pays around a dollar more than the American buyers, who knows at this point.
I would say robbing banks is even more dangerous. A soldier in Ukraine...That is dangerous.
Sitting in a bath tub filled with rattle snakes...that's dangerous.
@@ScottGerke😂
It won't be long before the Chinese go and catch there own lobster in those waters
Maybe if we did not sell to china they would not be so expensive here
I can’t afford to eat lobster because we sell to the Chinese who drove there price through the roof.
"Most dangerous job in the world," lmao No, no, it's not.
I cringe every time I hear rope
haha, when people come onto my boat, I make sure we say rope and bathroom. 🤷♂
Nobody young is coming into the industry cause the government isn't giving anymore permits to do it.
Yea, since it's only allowed to be passed down to immediate family, you don't see many. Though, you can lease the license and I know of at least one young guy (35 years old) doing that.
Why the heck they ship the lobster to China? American lobsters for local people! It is good nono young people come to this industry, why will they join if all you guys did were to ship the products overseas.
Shit don't look like that hard of work!
true sign of a pro 😎
Everyone says their job most dangerous. Not really. Ironworks, lumberjacks, oil drillers, I can think of many more dangerous jobs
What hard work these guys doing? Some soft boys
I seriously don't know how lobster fisherman are always happy I guess they really must enjoy what they're doing and they probably make a lot of money doing it because I have a cousin that's a fisherman there's a lobster fisherman matter of fact and when I go out fishing with him I am totally miserable it's cold it's hard work it's very dangerous I never have any fun the only fun part is when you're eating it that you put you put it in life and you let it cook in the Sun and you eat it well that's about it
It can get pretty rough out there, but it's all a mindset. I'm sure they have their bad days, but fisherman like these guys, pretty much live on the water and feel right at home.
I would get tired of seeing this guy's smiling all the time.
I'm busting my ass tired as hell and turn around too see this guy with a dorky smike on his face. It would eventually drive me over the edge.
