Factory Entertainment Star Trek The Next Generation TYPE-1 PHASER Prop Replica Video Review
#StarTrek #FactoryEntertainment #Phaser
They didn't show off the Cobra. They showed off the Dustbuster. Also the paint scheme on the cricket was silver on season one and two. Then in season three it changed. Factory Entertainment didn't get the season three paint exactly correct. On the show it was a deep charcoal with black nose, not silver. But, they're great replicas still with AWESOME features.
Gene Roddenberry didn't like it!? Jeez, I wonder how he felt about the *_very_* commonly used Type I Hand Phaser from The Original Series - especially considering that the Type I also doubled as the power pack for the Type II Phaser Pistol in TOS. That light in the emitter is a bit on the lame side, but I guess that they sacrificed it in favor of the lights in the intensity/setting bar.
The Season 2+ version of the TNG Type I Phaser reminds me of the Season 1 Type II Phaser (or as I like to call it, the Dust Buster)...don't think I like that one, as I absolutely despised the Dust Buster. Which one of the two Type II designs is the Cobra and which is the Dolphin?
Yeah but the type 2 was more used in TOS and such. So it certainly helped. I always referred to the cobra as the dust buster. The dolphin was the later more streamlined one. I could be wrong but that's how I called them
I don’t why Gene, or anyone else involved with the production of TNG, objected to th “cricket“, hand PHASER I size?
If anyone has one of one these, made by prop makers in either the past or present, this small, compact, handheld PHASER was almost the same size of the original TOS hand phaser 1.
Both are very close to the same size and the original TOS version hand PHASER 1, which was used throughout the 3 years of the original Star Trek series.
I LOVE the smal, “cricket”, hand PHASER 1 design for TNG. Love it!
If TNG can have comm badges that can be worn on the uniform, ( instead of a much larger pocket sized communication devixes ( say like maybe the size of the Apple iPod or iPod Mini, by then ) in the shape of the Star Fleet insignia, weapons technology would have, equally gotten smaller to have a small/er, pocket sized weapon that was capable, powerful and effective offensive/defensive weapon that can stay easily concealed and only be brandished when needed.
It never, ever made sense to me that both Gene and other production people on TNG and later TNG-era Star Trek, got rid of the small, “cricket” palm-size, handheld ( finger held ) PHASER 1 model prop.
The shape was cool and the very idea of having a small but powerful weapon that could be easily concealed for peaceful away mission contacts and only be brought out, when needed, was a really cool idea and was still in keeping with idea of the original Syar Trek’s hand PHASER 1 which was created with the same idea.
To have a concealed, but powerful personal weapon that would not be visible during initial and peaceful contact of alien cultures on other alien, “class M” planets, and only be brought out when some need to do so, arised.
Phasers to stun.
I saw that Jason David Frank who played Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise passed away yesterday at the age of 49.
Interesting. The sounds sound like the ones on TrekCore.
We have plans.
YESSSSSS

Nice overview! In theory, I like the "season 1" version, but the darker tip is so much more aesthetically pleasing. The way they stencil on the silver for the limited version looks a bit iffy (though it might be nicer up close than the real props... they could get away with holding a candy bar on screen and it would look fine at that size).
🖖 😎👍
These phasers a very cool! I don't remember them being called "Cricket" phasers, only type-1 Phasers. I have the Type 1 Phaser toy that came out long ago, but the size of it is too large, these ones have the perfect size of course, can't wait to see which other Phasers we'll see in the near future! Great review, Paul!
They were never called that in the show. Only by fans really
I cannot wait to see more of the phasers from the different series and movies And I hopefully they will make the kelvin timeline version of the phasers from kelvin timeline star trek films.
Meh lol I'm not a fan
@@optibotimus I understand and also keep up with the videos and can not wait to see the soul stone.
On it's way to me :)
@@optibotimus Awesome can not wait for it.
Gene Roddenberry LOVED the type 1 phaser seen here, but he knew enough to listen to others when they said it didn't 'read' on screen. He loved it because to him it suggested how advanced the technology of the 24th century was.
