Hey guys Rome here... just a quick explanation...
Tylis: I don't know what he thought would happen but his idea was like... he wanted to be patient with his attack!
He wanted to wait until our troops were depleted and then move in but I guess that didn't work because I feel like he wasn't that experienced (saw that because he just poured troops in waves). And he somehow didn't know and/or see that there was a timer...
Egypt: 10 min before the end of the game everyone had left ( they saw it was over) then Egypt left as well, you can see that because his troops don't move.
Me: i did some poor choices, I was caught up in trying to help Egypt and the same time watching if and when Tylis would move which he did not do lol.
And the part where My General died was completely calculated, Apollo explained it pretty good. Most of Romes troops have such a great moral that they don't need their general, that's why i got the cheapest one to start with. I wanted to lure the Macedonians away and not let them attack my rear that's why my general had to die. But it didn't matter, Rome is just fine without him and the plan worked.
Your comment needs more upvotes. This really explains a lot about an otherwise super-confusing battle.
@@LevCallahan We call them likes around here, not upvotes. This isn't Reddit. But otherwise I agree with you.
@@WaterVolt1917 Chill.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering why you were so careless with your general in this one.
i see apollo is getting ready for rome remastered
@Theo Anakin woah, nice bot
Players who aren't great and yet passionate about the game should still be encouraged!
Yeah it's easy to judge the players when you watching a replay compare to actually playing it in real time
Yes. Cause great players aren't born. They are made through the trials of steel and fire. Its mistakes that pave the path to victory
@@artifactgamingbrandan3874 idk man that was a lil bad
@@xzility1941 Lol yeh i agree, that was awful gameplay from Macedon and Tylis. I'm thinking either very early beginners or simply children
@@emillebest In my opinion its the same to see a good player vs a good player and a bad one vs a bad one imo since the struggle is equal
I feel like the trigger warning was more for apollo's sake than us lol.
hahaha facts
True but it is also kind of annoying to watch it 😂
Agreed
Yeah true

Their situation is basically the embodiment of too little too late
As much as I enjoy the screening of others match ups on your channel, I'd still love to see more of your own performances. My own personal favourite vid on Rome II - Pixelated Apollo & the Legend of the Club Levy .... Epic :)
I really enjoy these battles even with new players making poor decisions, because it's a good learning experience. I hope they learn from these things, and hope they get to watch this and learn.
That shirt is really well designed
15:50 elefant units are the rider and the elefant, so the 18 guys are 9 riders and 9 elefants because the rider can die and the elefant dont.
Hope you see, good day to y'all
Im honestly actually pretty happy to see new players playing the game! its super cool to see the new guys having their first battles
Say it with me everyone, that battle was "A SHAMEFUL DISPLAY!"
It really hurt to watch like i get that they are new players but damn at least have some sort of common sense
@@uziatake yeah I myself is a beginner but I know where my trooops should go
Sieges in Rome 2 is more forgiving than Shogun 2. If you do not storm the castle inner with all your forces at once, forget about winning. Defenders will have a field day.
@@nogisonoko5409 Thats is true. Shogun 2 was the last game to have Last stand to the death as well which didn't help things (kinda miss it though in some cases). Still their are plenty of tactics one can try, Rome 2 is the same way its just a city fight instead of a castle, different tactics, same goal with the bonus you can just route the enemy.
SHAMEFUR DISPRAY
FIRST SEIGE BATTLE WITH INTERNET. POG
Tylis might be focused in watching the duel animation instead of managing his troops.
I can relate to the bad players because I myself are one of them when it comes to strategy games 😂
Yeah, this was not the battle that had mainly experienced players in it to say the very least, or just one that had most of the players knowing what the hell they were doing, that goes for both sides but to be honest the fact that so many players played soo damm badly was what made this so interessante to watch
this would have been even better if Pixie had covered it hooked up to a blood pressure monitor, thing woulda gone crazy lol
Haha
15:26 It counts as 2 because it doesn't count the elephants themselves but the men mounted on them. so there is one guy steering and a second throwing Javelins from the top.
Yesterday I was re-watching few of Apollo's Rome 2 battles...when I saw this notification I was looking for hidden cameras xD really happy tho! Rome 2 battles was my favourite series!
I can’t describe the amount of serotonin I got from watching this video
This siege battle hurt to watch, still props to all the players for sticking through!
When Apollo gave that trigger warning I didn't think it was gonna be directed at himself! A fun but flustered battle for sure though.
Watching Tylis sit around until his allies were dead, and only then joining the fight, it was not a pretty sight
You have no idea, like cool you captured that cornor, NOW DO SOMETHING YA FOOL!
What a shameful display
This is seen once other in other Apollo videos like Napoleon total war siege battle when one of the attacker, Austria just sitting ducks on the outskirts of the fort while the Ottoman attacker doing his best to go all in to the fort.
"...Have your army okay this okay okay all right I just ookay" 😂😂
I love watching new players because they haven't decided how they usually play. So new players are kinda wild cards that are either aces in the whole or they'll back fire. New players have this kinda crazy passion for the game they're playing. They try crazy tactics and strategies that...six times out of ten back fire but, the other four are crazy battle changing tactics.
I love these kinds of videos. Because I'm so bad at battles so hearing constructive criticism of the bad players is helping my game play. Take for instance have units nearby to rush in.
Not every Rome 2 siege battles are full of pro players. They would always be a bad player but lessons can be learnt
They might be bad players but that doesn't excuse common sense
Even with the disclaimer at the beginning I could only take 5 mins of this ineptitude before rage quitting.
It's always interesting to see how new players think and the mistakes they made. Then we can all learn from these mistakes too. Idk if it's just me but I my first experience with this game was pretty toxic, with me being new and getting berated by my teammate for being bad but idk.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone was a noob at some point. I cringe now, but I remember when I used to make similar mistakes to the ones seen here. For me, though, the two greatest things that helped me become a good player were watching and learning from battles and playing with others over discord, where you can talk with each other and communicate.
in 15:10 It's not 2 elephants, it's 2 human models (one driver and one on the wooden platform) - there are 18 total human models, and 9 elephants
It appears as if macedon forgot their seige equipment, so tyliss gave them a seige tower
I love your MP Rome 2 commentaries..it's like watching a sporting event. I should get in on one of these someday. That was the most painful shit I've ever watched in a Total War game. lol
I feel like it's important for people to encourage new or not so great players because that's how everyone starts when doing something new plus it's all about practice. Another point is total war takes tactics and decisions you have to make fast and smartly or else it could be fatal for your army.
FYI: War elephants are designated to say they have "24" men in the unit, when it's really saying there are technically 24 killing troops in the unit, not elephants. There are 12 elephants in a unit. War elephants comprise of three parts: the elephant, the driver, and the archer on top.
Tldr: Each elephant equals two troops-- the elephant itself and the archer. That's why it says "2" troops are left.
This was actually great fun to watch. It gets boring watching competent players :D
Oh my lord am I ready for RTW Remastered. I can't wait for content on it!!
Love your vids, your campaign videos are my favorite!
I’m honestly surprised you covered this battle, it seems like the entire attacking force didn’t really know what they were doing
Even defenders were not trying to grab much of the opportunity lies like pushing all out against Tylis went they knew Tylis forces were very far from the fort and etc.
The more I watch these siege battles, the more I wish you would see siege battles that required the overwhelming force to win like IRL.
Dear Apollo, elephant unit is counted with the rider in it as well . So if there is 10 elephants it will show 20 depending on the rider in top
I love ALL the red arrows from PIXApollo !!!
Bro the content you make is gold thank you.
Attacking allies "Why did you only bring one siege tower"
The chad Macedonians: "We only need one"
I can watch forever elephants stamping on the infantry.
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing." -Theodore Roosevelt.
I think I just had a stroke watching that, I do remember when I was like the attackers though, either blobbing up or not keeping my army close until I got some basic tips from your channel, hope to see these players improve and come back stronger
Wait you were Macedon?
Not in this video, I'm just saying I used to play like that before I knew better
@@damienmadden1 I'm just asking, are the multiplayer servers still active. I really really wanted Rome 2 for a while now but I was really late in getting to know about the TW franchise. I might get it in a few weeks and I really wanna get something in the multiplayer
I've never played online, my laptop is so potato, I would imagine they are busy with Rome Remastered coming out soon
In a few weeks though it would probably be better to get remastered with how busy that will be, in the mean time just watch Apollo's vids for tactical advice, the tournaments are worth watching
Finally another classic Rome 2 battle, love this!

I loved Apollo’s reactions to Macedon 😂😂😂😂😂
That shirt is awesome! I only wish there was a jacket with a zipper, but the hoodie is still great so I shouldn't complain.
I like this a lot! I You should start a series were you get replays from mediocre at best players, and then give advice when you go over the battle.
2:09 its all well and good saying 'if' but then when the Macedonians and Spartans actually fought each other (the Spartans sided with Persia against Alexander) the Spartan King was killed.
Fun fact: we are all still watching
The reason that it said that there were two elephants was because there was a javelin man on top of the elephant which counts as one guy as well as the elephant; for those of you who were triggered by Apollo not knowing why there were "two elephants."
I am pumped for Rome remastered. Havent played the original and love Rome II. Also cheers for giving noobs the spotlight.
Apollo literally got me invested in strategy games
Apollo when it said there were 2 elephants, it counts the rider too. So even tho its 18 units in total it 9 elephants.
Siege battles are a mix of chess and the Goa Board. You have the strategies but you also need the tactical advantage which Rome had with the elite infantry and good archers. But hey noob fights are fun to watch
Love your content! Please keep it up!
Rome remastered? I must’ve been living under a rock...
*TAKE MY MONEY NOW I NEED IT*
It’s like napoleon not committing the imperial old guard 42:34
Good video Apollo! Tylis bro!!! Gotta step your game up
I felt so stressed out watching this.
LMAOO I was Seleucid during this match and I have a faint memory of being pissed and dying inside multiple times during this battle. I think Macedonian didn’t speak English and this was tylis first ever game. So I was typing and pinging so much but nothing ever happened but not that I watch it I just laugh. But Apollo I sent a replay to you of a 4v4 that you would love, elephant, artillery, teamwork and great moves. I played as Carthage, (it was called something elephant kills)
But it’s great seeing me in one of these fights keep up the good work
hmmm there’s 2 people claiming to be seleucid in the comments haha
@@Matthew-ny1nj huh I remember playing a battle just like this because it hurt me so much. Unless my battle went about the exact same way as this. I thought this was mine, if not, then sorry to the actual Seleucid player.
apollo the reason why it said 2 elephants and you only saw 1 is because the game only shows half of the actual elephants. It takes less space and definitely causes less lag this way
they were new players, believe me. i was the seleucid player. there was nothing to gain here 😛
I love the commentary of yours
"All hail the magic conch" - Tylis probably
Apollo, there's two in the unit because it counts the rider and the elephant separately.
Apollo :) hahaha I can feel the frustration man :-D
Finally some Rome 2 thx Apollo
That shirt is insane, love it! Definitely gonna get one
the riders of the elephants also count as one i believe
Loved the vid! Keep up the good work appolo!

I AM the witcher in question!
All these new players making my brain hurt. Should have sent in a lot more support troops
Finally Apollo commentated a match i was playing, what an honor for me, i waited for this for ages but then it's one of the worst matches i ever experianced - i was seleucid... XD
To add my part to the commentary: i was surprised, that egypt just gave me the walls for free, so i tried to move into the city as organized as possible. But, as soon as i started myself engaging the enemy, i found myself battleing three enemies at the same time. especially my right flank got chewed up by the reinforcement of the baktrian archers. Outnumbered and outclassed i melted with no chance. i really tried to break through at one point but it was too much. So, THX Apollo that you backed up my doomed attack and gave it the honor it deserved. My men fought to the very end.
And i have to apologize to all the guys watching, cause this one wasnt very entertaining indeed. Apollo i love you're back in commentating rome 2 again. Hope next time you will comment one of my matches, its going to be more action for all of us.
well, a dream came true anyways :D
Greetings to all rome 2 players!
You did great bro, cant wait for the next match. Ps i told you i was gonna get it on youtube lol

ow youre mean apollo ! and even you getting better and better ;-)
Tylis Is a mouth breather
Hey apollo, love the t-shirt idea!
It's like Tylis thought they had Warhammer towers
Could it be that Macedon thought they had the gate captured, so they just grabbed a group of units and tried to send them in at the same time? Seeing as they sent groups of units later as well.
And the better type of elephants tend to have more than one soldier on top, so they count as more than one.
But to summarize.... Macedon might've been new to Rome totally or just new to multiplayer, but with the energy of new players, whereas Thylus (?) seemed to be preoccupied with something else or just too overcautious?
I miss total war arena
I thought I wouldn’t get triggered at all but Tylis were sooooo frustrating with how they were playing
Someone help our man Apollo. 😂
It comes down to the effort! Game is much more fun like that
My dude, elephant units count the number of men, not the number of elephants. The mahout and the spear chucker were both alive. "How is that two?!" :p
Yay more total war Rome 2 and maybe total war Rome remastered
Apollo the people on the elephants who are throwing Spears count as troops
We all have to start somewhere....
Losing your walls should have a morale penalty to the defense tbh. I hate it when the defense gives up it’s walls right away, it’s so unrealistic.
Apollo, you should try and do a Rome 2 campaign or battle with the Divide et Impera mod.
