Most of the people that buy these are people active LE, military, or EMT's. If you're out on the battlefield you REALLY can't use a BIC pen, because it's not optimised for every environment. As far as this kickstarter is concerned, I don't quite understand what's unique about THEIR pen. These have been around for over a decade, this is by no means unique. This pen is far from useless, it's just not intended to be used by EVERYONE. Watch the HBO mini-series "Generation Kill", and you'll notice several of the officers using these.

This kickstarter makes little sense with its "you deserve something special" or whatever because, barring those specifically used for art, pens are for mundane tasks or work; you'd be essentially buying a product to help you work harder, not give you reprieve from toiling at the office all day. I think the phrase "treat yourself" applies to things that are specifically supposed to help you relax or for fun..

There are cheaper ones out there, this idea isn't new by any means. Go to BladeHQ and search for "Tactical Pen", you'll notice that even Gerber makes a tactical pen. Most of the people that buy these are people active LE, military, or EMT's. If you're out on the battlefield you REALLY can't use a BIC pen, because it's not optimised for every environment. As far as this kickstarter is concerned, I don't quite understand what's unique about THEIR pen. These have been around for over a decade, this is by no means unique. This pen is far from useless, it's just not intended to be used by EVERYONE. Watch the HBO mini-series "Generation Kill", and you'll notice several of the officers using these.
Just get any pen that uses a Fisher space pen refill, a fisher space pen is like 20 bucks, I got my brass one for 15 bucks
