THE SHOP HAS BASS!!! Couldn't stand having no woofers out the garage... so today let's Jerry-rig a makeshift repair to revive these 25 year old tower speakers! Thanks for watching 😃
Soft domes are the way to go, I've got a pair of silk soft dome midranges in my car and silk dome tweeters to go with them and the detail in my vocals and highs are amazing. Glad to see ya get your new garage settled. Can't wait to see ya finish the van and future projects man.
I’ve not heard anything about Peerless speakers in Paradigm products. They used to use Vifa tweeters. That was in the 90s. They’ve been making all their parts in house since then. Yeah, the bass on Paradigm speakers, even the little Atoms, sound great.
@@misterbikerman7888 Shut the hell up kid. No they don't. Stop correcting people with bullshit information. I suggest you learn your shit before correcting people. They use Vifa tweeters. Also they're NOT rebranded Peerless. So shut your mouth
old paradigms are built better than 90% of the speakers out there now....ive got a pair from the 90s and they are like moving a lead box around they weigh so much....one of the best sounding speakers out there , at any price
The original paradigm monitor series was amazing. I had the 5s in my home theater for years. Great job on the repair. I have moved on to DIY and have Elusive 1099s now. I am going to start scanning craigslist though for old speakers.
My mom bought me those exact speakers for me for Christmas as a teenager in the late 90's and my did the same. The tweets just went out so I swapped out with some other tweets and used the face plate as well. It's crazy that your doing the samething 25 years later. I actually liked those speakers they sounded great and the bass was surprisingly stronge.
Great job bringing those speakers back to life! I've done this countless times with Boston speakers. They typically need a reforming kit for the woofers and they're good to go for another 20 years!
This brings me back to when the haters said my old 80 watt system can't be moving anything and probably isn't loud at all, look at them now probably mouths wide open seeing exo making his shop jiggle from 80watts ;) Thanx bruce loved the vid.
awsome job exo.....im a pc builder and gaming computer....love the vids....just got my son a skar 1500.1d amp and 2x memphis stree reference subs...140$ for both..had a 1/2 in thick white cabinet i turned into a sealed box...sounded good halfway up at 2ohm....and now just got him 2 more memphis subs...all 4 ..12s are single 4ohm...we traded a mini pc i had for a kicker ported box and fit all 4 in the trunk of his 4 door corola.....at 1ohm now and amp gain is maybe 60% and it pounds now...i used to be into it and go to competitions and hes up there now!! thanks for all the vids to help!!
Your garage is built like a concert hall. It has that loud echo effect. You just need 2 18" subwoofers on a huge PA system or a car amp hooked to a battery bank and that whole garage will shake even more!
Cool to see you play around with Paradigm speakers EXO! Did you know they make a subwoofer with 6 10" drivers and 4500 watts RMS?? Frequency response is flat down to 9Hz!! It's called the Paradigm SUB 2.
My uncles work construction and electrical. If I recall correctly, we agreed that the it could take up to 5 years for a building to "settle". So that squeak can work itself out.
Always a great time watching your Videos EXO been following you for years. I got a W.I.P car audio build with CT sounds. Can’t wait for more Updates on the Van Build! Shop is coming along great
I got me a little 12 inch subwoofer for my home surround sound, about 500 watt max 250RMS and a smaller 8 inch subwoofer pushing about 100 watts maybe plus the other satellite speakers hooked to a 1,000 watts receiver and I also hear the bass rattling the door from the outside, GTA V explosions have a lot of bass 🔊 great video, thanks for sharing 👍
A buddy of mine found 2 old school rubicon amps and a pair of team series orion subs in a custom box and amp rack built together that drops right in to a fast and furious body style eclipse ..paid 300$ made his money back selling one amp ..and now has a piece old school audio history..
Really cool salvage. I use to work for them up here where I live. 2 years inside. SOOO many things to see.. Wish I could have helped you.. (and a few thousand other fans) …. Only a few things left now in my “junk” pile. …. Kudos man!!! Keep up with the work shop!!!
This is awesome to see some paradigms. I am listing to this video on a set in my living room. I bought these monitor 9”s V2 back in 2002 in a hock shop for $350 and then have playing audio everyday since then. I have them paired with two PS1000 V4 subs and the other 7.2 is also all monitors. Love them. I have never had any problems with them.
So damn nice channel you got here!! Have spent almost 3 days watching almost every video you have posted!! Have not been in the car stereo life for over 15 years now...but now it´s time to bring that back. You are a true Inspiration for many people!! Really love your way to be!! Great regards from Sweden
I’m glad to see another audio nerd, especially a basshead playing with bass on cheap speakers 😂 I too play with any speaker even though I love the “best”
Got the 8” Xfire woofers under the back seat of my tundra, 6 of them in a row making a total of 4500W RMS, it packs a big punch! So I know what 8” woofers can do and they can go loud! Nice to see some video’s from you again! Can’t wait for the continuation on the truck!
I got 2 evl 8s in my bedroom they’re being under powered by a Samsung amp out of a 6.5in enclosure but it allows me to have them connected with the soundbard with Bluetooth and I don’t need it cranked all the way up anyways bc it rattles my whole bedroom at half volume
In 2020 I bought a pair of old Vega d5s with bad subs. Didn't want to spend for Vega subs and ended up buying some car subs 12" from crutchfield. Man now those D5s sound oh sooo good.
Love those old speakers! I run the 9seMKii for my front home theatre and I run the 5seMKi for my rears. Got the 7se for 50$ and the rears from my grandmother. Love these old speakers they really don't make them like they use to!
That's awesome, I did the same thing but with ebay and Klipsch speakers. Bought a pair for $200 one tweeter was out so I replaced it with the same tweeter from parts express for like .99 cents. And hot glued it in place. I love your videos.
ive had these exact speakers a couple times, i buy and sell vintage gear. these will sell for about 350- 400 canadian if original drivers and in good shape. love the content bro, been watching for a minute.
Bro, great video and even better timing. Hit the big annual neighborhood garage sale today. Bought the first thing I saw. A $300 motorcycle that I should be able to make a grand on. Have a great one.
Now you’ve got great tunes in the shop! No need to fuss about the tweeters- they’re plenty fit for purpose and will you give you great sound while you’re working. Awesome job!
I have those speakers and had a tweeter blow out. You can buy the newer titanium tweeters, but you have to cut the plastic tabs, and re epoxy them so they fit. Was fairly easy, and sound a tad better.
I literally gasped when I saw the thumbnail. I have the exact same set without the covers on directly in front of me lmao I got my set for free, in perfect working condition, from a customer at work
I like all things jerry-rigged. Glad you finally have some shop bass! 8" woofers seem to be underrated and underused, from what ive seen. Cool stuff you got there, Exo!
Just a heads up about your garage door you can put stop molding around the edges to help seal the building off a little better I did notice you have quite a bit of light coming through on the top of the door it will also help keep the dust out
Oh also people forget air compresses..lol so when I have Quality Amp and sub that can take the heat a sealed chamber in rear returns the energy put in as a bounce like a air shock ,where's it go? Forward same as the forward kick...you don't loose half your energy on rear absorption it's all returned to forward direction ( where you and dB meter are) 😁 ..love your videos!!!!
kind of funny to see i had a couple of those back in the day had just the same problem that the tweeter was crackeling like crazy.. but the woofers was insane loved those speakers..
Paradigm monitor 9 came out sometime in the 90s when I was in high school I remember listening to that exact pair when there was a new Metallica album released and that's what they played at the dealer ...and man those things rock! I was so sad I couldn't afford them
Awesome, I can't wait to put a good stereo in my garage. Hey, you breeze over components with ease and when you're not plugged into the system as close as you are can you do a video on what good builder parts are out there, or what works good for cheap as it's easy to go down the rabbit hole and spend multiple paychecks when something cheap may get you 80%+ of the way there on the cheap. Thanks!
I did the same thing with some JBL LX600 towers. I put some P2 10" in mine and it has been slapping for 2 years now... Definately prefer the older box designs that wasn't built for maximum profits when sold.
Looks like the mounting plate for the tweeters could easily be re-engineered with a 3D printer giving more flexibility for mounting options. Great video.
Technically these were actually worth the money depending on how much you spent on them and the time that one stopped working. As a real true follower, you had these for 4 yrs., and if they worked all the way up to till recently, then you actually didn't buy junk! 2018 you used these same pairs for a sound test. Only your true followers will know that! I know what you mean about having a habit about buying junk on CL/Offer Up. Stay Blessed bro.
I’ve had a bass addiction since I was a kid dude and I’ve all kinds of home floor subs and I’ve had these same ones. Mike had lights in them the subs changed colors. There is lights in the box. Or mine was anyway
Great video, subscribed! Yes one man's trash isn't always trash lol my neighbors threw out a pair of infinity p162 front speakers , matching center channel and the ps28 sub. All have issues but aren't trash. Now in storage till I can fix and power them properly. 😄 I am surprised with the performance of that little amp! I don't think my Yamaha receiver could do that. Grrr
I had a set of Kenwood 12s floor subs on a Kenwood system new in 1997 and it would bump so violently dude you had hear it. I put my floor subs under my bed in their backs and and double the bass and I had the surround sound speakers in the corners of the ceiling and it had loads of highs and mids in the room. No one knew where all the bass was coming from until they sat in the bed and than you could feel them hahaha
Awesome man love the content place looks amazing I'm about to do a little build in my girlfriend's new car and seeing your vids gets me motivated to to more audio stuff 😀 just got some new skar audio speakers for my car and they sound great 👍
Hey EXO I have a set of old school audiobahn flame q subwoofers how would I go about reconeing they lasted for like 13 years but have recently quit and I can't find parts any help?
DAMN those are expensive speakers what a score. Also peerless make very high quality low distortion drivers.. top notch stuff for a really low price. Scanspeak and Peerless used to be the same company
People tend to blow tweeters on "bright" speakers when they use some type of built in room correction on a receiver. Denon, for example, will add a boost in the highs by default. I blew a coupe tweeters on some not cheap speakers before I discovered this. If you limit the room correction to 500(600) hz and below, you won't have this problem.
That was definitely a great way to get and save a good set of speakers! Still wish I could find thos DJ JD songs tho. Its like the DJ dropped off the earth with the downloads.

How are you
90's Canadian Paradigm were made in Canada and are still very desirable
What amp is that? 😁
Soft domes are the way to go, I've got a pair of silk soft dome midranges in my car and silk dome tweeters to go with them and the detail in my vocals and highs are amazing. Glad to see ya get your new garage settled. Can't wait to see ya finish the van and future projects man.
Why are the magnets always so much bigger on house speakers (tweeters)? I they over engineered vs car audio tweeters?
LOVE Paradigm speakers. Been using them since the company was founded. They make ALL components for their speakers.
no they rebrand peerless
I’ve not heard anything about Peerless speakers in Paradigm products. They used to use Vifa tweeters. That was in the 90s. They’ve been making all their parts in house since then. Yeah, the bass on Paradigm speakers, even the little Atoms, sound great.

Great video brother ! Showing people how to think "outside the box" when it comes to making old speakers good again. Keep up the vids man 💪🏻
Badass! I always appreciate when someone takes the time to repair something "broken" when it clearly still has life left in it, great video!
My mom bought me those exact speakers for me for Christmas as a teenager in the late 90's and my did the same. very impressive for a gaming computer

Pair of stand-mount JBL EON715's + EON718S subbie
Music is key no matter what I do! Great job with taking the time to fix the old exo, never count the old out! I'm with you on the treasure!
Exo you my man are a legend your attention to detail and though process are absolutely next level well done and keep up the outstanding work
Dude this type of simple video keeps me going, great job!
EXO, glad ur turnin out videos again bro, missed u while u were gone.

kind of funny to see i had a couple of those back in the day had just the same problem that the tweeter was crackeling like crazy.. but the woofers was insane loved those speakers..
Bro congrats on the speakers good job they sound amazing 4/8 making all that noise making all them Good vibrations very nice.
hi exo, i hope your feeling good enough to start working on the behemoth build soon!
Paradigm monitor 9 came out sometime in the 90s when I was in high school I remember listening to that exact pair when there was a new Metallica album released and that's what they played at the dealer ...and man those things rock! I was so sad I couldn't afford them
Once again great vidéo ! Hello from Paris, France :)
Brilliant video as always, love your stuff. Watching your videos gets me all juiced up for when I get started on the sound part of my project car

i still jam to that 100 best bass song on EXO's channel.
Grrr
Awesome video! If you do all these camera shots alone and the editing! Great job oncr again!
A win for the spare bin. Right on yo.
I had a set of Kenwood 12s floor subs on a Kenwood system new in 1997 and it would bump so violently dude you had hear it. those fucking paradigms eh. dad had a set when i was a child and i wanted a set ever since. true beautiful sound on a yamaha amp.
Man i wait a long time for you to upload a new vid.🤣❤️
cool video as always Exo thats awesome to get those aged used tower speakers working and sounding great!
Awesome man love the content place looks amazing I'm about to do a little build in my girlfriend's new car and seeing your vids gets me motivated to to more audio stuff 😀 just got some new skar audio speakers for my car and they sound great 👍
Back in action!!!
Love your videos. Been watching you for a while now. And your living my dream my guy
Hey brother thanks for all your hard work putting out your knowledge. You have helped me out in a few situations.
the music selection is extremely surprising lol
make the ports longer so you have deeper bass. they will bump like hell man. Keep up the great videos
Yoo exo, an older video but you should get some old school cerwin vegas. They hit hard and live for a beating
Put some big Cerwin Vega D9's in my garage with a Crown amp..It raises hell.
Way to go man! Shop tunes
Hey EXO I have a set of old school audiobahn flame q subwoofers how would I go about reconeing they lasted for like 13 years but have recently quit and I can't find parts any help?
For everyone wondering what that amp was, it’s the Sabaj A4
you got a link to these songs you are using? I really need a more diversified bass playlist
Thanks exo I enjoy your work
DAMN those are expensive speakers what a score. Also peerless make very high quality low distortion drivers.. top notch stuff for a really low price. Scanspeak and Peerless used to be the same company
Just bought jbl tower speakers with center speaker and 2 side speakers for 69$ just the center cost 70$ great find
That's so cool; a free (temporary) fix, sounding great!
6th order series tuned if done properly is the very best loudest and has the best frequency range
Hi bro. I'm from Indonesian. I'm really like this video. Verry useful
Awesome Ty man going to look on Craigslist and Facebook market for a used set of towers. Been wanting some.
Nice work, but are you sure that amp is not going in clipping with so little power?
Loved my monitor 3s until the tweets blew. Great little speaker.
That door............ 🎶GIVIN' MC's JIGSAWWWWWWWW.........their silence is my game🎶
😂👍
Paradigm will sell you replacement parts. Canadian company and those are really great sets.
Good info about old speakers Bruice.
That was definitely a great way to get and save a good set of speakers! Still wish I could find thos DJ JD songs tho. Its like the DJ dropped off the earth with the downloads.
Hey exo I've been away for a while. I need to catch up on your videos. What's the update on the van? The last video I seen was like 10 months ago. I've got a 2009 ram now and I'm thinking about walling it.
Heck yeah #SecondSkin on the lights for sure!
