    hey slate, how about your built in oven and microwave... where do you put an AVR since your kitchen cabinets are modular and the sockets are at the back? the gap usually is just about 10to 20mm from wall to microwave for modular cabinets.

    Good day. I followed your advice and bought an AVR (same item and brand mentioned here from APC) for our LG ref.
    I would like to kindly ask, if advisable na magkaroon din ng AVR sa microwave oven (we have Elio 60 MW from Elba) at one year lang, hindi na gumagana at nasira na yung “board”. So baka kailangan din ng AVR na ang power required ay 3000 W then ang microwave output power ay 1000 W.
    Please advise. Thank you

    There's also an electronic equip i use the size of an MCB and is DIN rail type. Has energy monitor, surge protection, delay on, over current & short circuit protector & can be monitored over wifi cost 2k php more or less. I must say the delay on is what kept my things in shape. kasi the first 30s when the power grid comes back on is usually unstable with some fluctuations due to varying loads na nkakasira madalas ng tv & ref, kaya i opted to delay my entire home power by about that much time. seems to work for me.

    Thats true. I had a project before where I need to connect my coring machine to the main source of electricity of the plant however the source is a kilometer away from the location where the coring will take place. So we tried initially it run smoothly but later on the motor was burnt this is due to the voltage drop and surge. So instead to to supply a stable electricity I decided to deploy a genset that is capable to supply a constant voltage so that my machine wont be damage

    Hmmm. One important thing missing from this video is the fact that Surge Protectors NEED to be plugged to a three-wire grounded receptacle to work. Most houses in the Philippines only have two-wire ungrounded receptacles. Now a lot of people will buy these products and think they will be properly protected from surges. They will also use universal adapters to adapt the three-pronged APC Surge Protectors to two-wired ungrounded receptacles. I use APC products for two decades already and that’s one important thing to note.

    • @glamalil

      In Slater's example his ref is 200watts. He multiplied it by 3 to get 600watts rating for the avr he need for the appliance. To convert Watts to VA, divide it to power factor (search in google). Divide it for example to a power factor of .6 -> 600watts / 0.6 = 1000VA

    • @glennjv01
      @glennjv01 2 года назад

      not totally... the Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) inside that surge protector should help catch some surges... not perfect... but still helps.

    • @wd8005
      @wd8005 2 года назад

      @@glennjv01 Yeah but it’s mostly useless still. Even if it has a working ground, a direct lightning strike will still damage anything connected to a surge protector. A good solution is to install SPD aka Surge Protection Device that can take the brute force of the lightning and it’s required in the electrical panel of the house in most western countries.
