    (Scroll down for the rest)
So to set the scene for you, I had just finished first place in my 15th Grand Finals appearance excluding weeklies, resulting in my third ever tournament victory. The
next tournament gets announced and the format was a 2v2 double elimination bracket with powerups disabled. I knew there were going to be a lot of high-profile players
in attendence and I needed to strike fast to find my teammate. I preferrably wanted someone I hadn't already teamed with before as is my trend and one of the first
people I asked happened to be the #1 ranked Pixel Party player at the time, gvap. We participated in a weekly the week prior and had some friendly banter and
encouragement, and we faced off in the Grand Finals to which I ended up losing that battle. With almost no hesitation, she agreed to be my teammate which personally
shocked me: I mean I didn't know if duos was her scene or if she would even WANT to team with a peasant like me but I surprised myself. And so the table was set with us
making the #1 seed due to fwil losing a bunch of ELO in that very same weekly. And so, the tournament began.
The first round I got to play did a great job at helping me mentally adjust to my environment and my teammate which was all good and well because our next opponents
were AddisonDJ & Bec, a duo that I did not want to face off against. They are just too dangerous, being able to go blow-for-blow in skill-based battles against even the
upper echelon of players while at the same time not being afraid to let the hands of luck decide their fate, and those two have quite the formidable history when it
came to such endeavors, AND ESPECIALLY when it came to me. In general, there are three people I try to avoid at all costs since they not only go for luck but also know
how to juke me so that I can’t follow them, creating a very bad matchup, and I had to face two of those players. It wasn’t going to be easy. Me and gvap agreed to
shadow them to try and keep the luck to a minimum which mostly worked, didn’t stop us from getting a luck loss either way but on the bright side the strategy prevented
us from losing. It’s like how that one saying goes right? “Bend but don’t break”, something to that equivalent. Unfortunately the conclusion of that match was…
controversial. I'm not gonna get into the specifics but basically I got a solo luck-win, but the round was almost cancelled due to what I would classify as an
extremely stretched definition of "powerup-interference" and after talking to a lot of different referees, pros and server owners, they seemed to agree. There was a
difference of opinion on the matter which did eventually, after an hour of deliberation, result in us winning, but not before a devastating blow.
Gvap had had enough and I could not blame her at all. The intermission that was taken in order to hash out the Powerup-Interference round took way too long and was way
too painful to work through. In fact for a short time, our team was completely disbanded.
Gvap was out and I was in, moving on to the final four, without a teammate. I tried to get gvap back in the tournament before even considering trying to get a
replacement but unfortunately all of my attempts were in vein which really sucks because gvap deserved a better ending to her time as a Pixel Party player than that.
But there was no time to lament the outcome of this misfortune. I had to find a new teammate and quickly as the next round had already begun. I changed my name to
gvapisawesum5149 and recruited Unienqe to be my teammate. Honestly I got pretty lucky having her as my teammate since the restrictions for replacing teammates are
pretty harsh. Can’t have already been in the tournament, can’t have an ELO higher than the player you are replacing: one of the advantages to somehow having the #1
Pixel Party player agree to team with you am I right?
