Just an FYI, I recently got one of these, and they included two 15 inch antennas along with the 8 inch 144/435 MHz one. One is labeled TD-771 120/300 MHz, the other, NA-771 144/430 mhz. I'm in the US
just bought the 2 pack from your link! thanks. been looking for some cheap USB-C chargable radios to keep in various places. going to throw one in the glove box and one in the faraday can i plan on building. went out to do POTA and want to get N1CC and met another HAM operator that didn't have a VHF/UHF radio with him or in his car. so we couldn't get 2m/70cm
You can also program the radio using the USB-C connector on the side of the radio under the mic & programming connector.
Like this little radio and you can unlock them to do HAM, GMRS and everything. There is a weird programming glitch though. I had to unlock radio, then read with ODMaster via Bluetooth, program in one GMRS channel and write it. Then I could use CHIRP from that point on but if I did not I would get “this radio incompatible with those frequencies” error in chirp!!
I got mine last Thursday whilst it is an amazing radio electronically I have a problem cosmetically in that the top numbers 1, 2 and 3 the black of the buttons is wearing off and is showing the keypad illumination though the worn off areas, this radio is only a few days old whilst I may have a rogue radio I would be happy to know if any other people are experiencing the same problem, I think this one will be going back to AliExpress

When you are selecting the model in Bluetooth, why did you select TD-H3 option instead of the TD-H3 Ham or TD-H3 GMRS options? I understand this radio can do both GMRS and HAM but why do they have 3 options there, and what happens if I select lets say the GMRS option?
I wonder if this radio can connect with APRS Droid via bluetooth from a cell phone? 🤔
I like the features on these radio's. I ordered one of each a few days ago. I think the up/down buttons suit left-handed users like you but not me. Lol

Hello. I bought this radio because it has dual PTT, like the Baofeng UV-82 that I use for work to talk to two different groups. However, the earphone/mic I use for the UV-82 with two buttons only activates one frequency (the lower PTT). Is there any configuration that can enable both PTT via the handset? Thanks.
It just came out yesterday that the 8 Watt version of this radio addressed the dirty issues and it is "Clean". It is said to ONLY get the "Fixed" 8 Watt version .. I Hope they pull the stock of all of the other ones on the major vendors websites!
I think that's the Talkpod A36 Plus, not the TD-H3 from Tid

I am building a Yagi antenna would it effect the performance if I mount it on a metal pole? WQ9V
Horizontal polorization on top or through a vertical pole has limited interaction with the mast.... if you're running vertical polarization... end mounting is best behind the reflector
Are any of these cheaper radios legal to buy in Australia, with or without an armature licence? will they pass through customs if purchased?
There's nothing stopping you buying any radio without a license. Customs don't care and can't check every package is destined for a person with a license.
I recently asked a vendor to put " amateur radio" and my callsign on the label, nuh , they didn't but it still got it. I have been buying radios like these online since 2012 without any problems.
Can this be programmed to transmitt on 477Mhz?
Also, why do you think the HAM version is cheaper than the GMRS version on Amazon? This radio can be switched between HAM or GMRS by unlocking no matter which version you buy correct?
You said the H8 'had issues.' What sort of issues please? The H3 almost seems a bit too small so I was interested in the H8 for a more hefty HT. Thanks.

I don’t think so, Bluetooth is only for programming and doesn’t send audio over it

You said the Tidradio TD-H8 didn't have Bluetooth. It has a BL button right there. It isn't painted blue but it's there.

Hi Hayden i have a question about the TD-H3 i have one of these on the way. To update the firmware can i use the Baofeng program cable.
I believe so yes. You can also just use a USB-C cable too - they can be programmed through that directly.

I followed your affiliate link and it didn't come up with good numbers. Still ... it's twice the Oz price of a Quansheng UV-5R Plus and is it better?
On another matter I'd really like to know the RF chipset that drives these cheapy HTs, but unfortunately that is not easy to find it seems... without a tear down. :(

@wahroongafarm3966 some things are better. I have both td-h8, and a quansheng uv k5. K5 has many add on's, ]multiple firmwares to choose from, and RX from 18.000-1300.00. My TD H8 has 10W, color screen, Bluetooth, USB-C on the battery itself, slightly larger body with a solid/durable body. I love both of them
I can't find the FCC ID on the FCC database. Looking at the spurious emissions I understand why it has a bogus FCC ID number.

The Tidradio h 8 also has Bluetooth, that button that says "BL" Is how you turn it on, one of the more interesting features of that radio...
Wireline (telephone) is specified to work with 70 msec tone. I used to test voiceband modems to 50 msec to be sure, but there is no spec for RF. My radios now are set to 250 msec duration with the same gap. Somebody at TID used an ambitious duration. If/when there is hacked firmware, that will be fixed.

G'day Hayden, thanks for the video.. Just slightly off subject but relates to uhf-cb if your interested. GME have just released a new HANDHELD, XRS-660 I'm finding it very impressive.. Also has Bluetooth, GPS firmware upgradeable etc gme have a small 4 minute video here on yt.. 73's

Might have a faulty unit? Might need to ask for a return/replacement
I bought the two pack. Both radios after they were on about 5 mins or less the screen would flip upside down making the screen unreadable because it was still showing the original screen. One of the batteries keeps shutting off and will not charge. Sent them back. Gonna get the wouzun kg-uv9 gx

These batteries die fast ... something real wrong with their batteries .. beware. Ordered two .. one arrives DOA .. got Tidradio to send an entire radio with battery to me .. and now I have three radios with two dead batteries.. flashes red and green when trying to charge, their book says means battery dead dead dead.
Not to point out the obvious but when you say "Better that the Baofeng" your not saying a lot. Ever for shits and giggles hook one to a scope or watt meter. All over the place. The scope has noise polution all over the trace so.. when you say better than?

Tell us you're a Ham Snob without saying you're a ham snob?. HAM isn't even on life support. It's in early-stage HOSPICE. If this radio makes it comfortable enough for the handful of young operators until the end, then SO BEIT!. I've had to send back my Yaesu for service....AGAIN!. Got an 11 year old Bo'FANG that still is working fine and the battery taking a FULL CHARGE!
I think all comparisons to Baofeng should stop. When I hear "better than Baofeng", all I hear is "a better piece of crap". The newer generation of SOC radios are way better than that. Should start comparing to superhets.

Got the "prison model" (clear one) it is dirty with harmonics on 2M that should not be there, and in order to download the CPS for the radio (not chirp) I have to setup an account? What a company, why is every youtuber pushing this crap? Somebody getting affiliate link dollars...lol
