A long time ago, back in 1976 when I was a young man of 17. My cousin Jake and I went hunting out on our Grandfather's 700+ acre ranch in East Texas. On this ranch there was about 200+ acres of thick woods that backed up to a national forest. It was a cool fall day in mid November, we decided we'd try our luck at deer hunting as our family freezer was getting a little low on venison. We liked to use a nice wooded ridge on the Southern side of the woods that overlooked a nice grassy clearing towards the North. This meant we'd be downwind of any possible deer grazing on this grassy area, as on this day, there was a calm breeze from the North. We sat with our backs against a couple of huge beautiful old growth oak trees. Grandpa respected the old growth trees on his property and taught us to respect them as well. We never harvested lumber or firewood from them unless they fell over in a storm or from disease. Anyway, there we were sitting under these old trees just quietly scanning the woods, waiting for a good sized buck to walk into this clearing. What happened next, I still can't believe to this day. If it wasn't for the confirmation from my cousin Jake, I would have shrugged it off as a hallucination or a bad dream. It started with the woods going completely quiet. I mean death quiet. No birds, no insects, no wind noise, nothing. It's as if someone or something hit the pause button. Jake looked over at me and whispered _"Do you hear that?"_ *"Hear what?"* I asked. _"Exactly! Nothin'! I don't hear nothin'!"_ he replied. Just then a loud crack erupted from the national forest side of the woods and Jake's eyes grew as big as saucers. It sounded like someone slammed the side of a tree with a Louisville Slugger. We both knew this was getting serious and in a hurry. Jake had his Dad's new 30-06 and I had Grandpa's old Winchester lever action 30-30. We raised our rifles and set our sights in the direction we believed the loud crack came from. I could hear my heart beating in my eardrums. The suspense was excruciating. I just wanted to get out of there, but Jake wanted to know what in the hell made that noise. To this day I wish we would've just got the hell out of there. After about 30 seconds that felt like an hour, we heard footsteps. Not hoofbeats but footsteps. Like a man running. You know, the seesaw pit pat bipedal rhythm of a human running. But this wasn't a man. It sounded like a damn bulldozer tearing through those woods. There was a smell in the air. I couldn't quite place it. Kind of like rotten meat mixed with sulphur. Closer and closer the sound got, louder and louder. It's as if this thing is about to pop out of the woods and into the clearing. My heart was in my throat, my mouth was dry and my hands were a sweaty, shaking mess. My brain is trying to rationalize what this damn thing is, but nothing fits. I'm frozen with fear. Just then the running stopped. My mind is screaming "RUN, you fool!" but my legs are like spaghetti, and I wasn't going to leave my cousin there by himself to face this abomination. No. Hell no! I'd rather die fighting, than do that. Ol' Jake was like a brother to me. I look over at Jake and he's got his right index finger up to his lips making the "shhh" sign. Then he points into the woods towards the North. *"I see it! I see it Jake!."* I whispered. Well, I guess this damned thing heard me, because it let out a earsplitting roar. Not a scream or a yell, but a damn roar. It sounded like a mix of a lion and an elephant. As it roared, the black mass we saw at the edge of the clearing, started to grow. The damned thing was standing up! Five feet, six feet, seven feet, eight feet, all the way up to what looked to be nine feet tall. It was at that point we knew exactly what it was. It was a damn... - Well, sounds like my wife is calling me for dinner. I'll finish my story later on.
I remember watching mr.nightmare ever since I was in middle school all the way to highschool and after hearing tons of stories from bro I recently purchased my first gun right on my 21st birthday make me realize how crazy this world is and how important it is to have something to protect yourself with

Hunting too CAN be scary as hell by itself as sometimes accidental firing against fellow humans can occur, but even other humans hunt others for their own agendas. Mr Nightmare definitely knows how to make us feel entertained, been his subscriber since day one.
THIS ^. In the state where I live in, if you shoot someone during deer hunting season almost always they'll write it off as accidental. My dad had a colleague who was killed and the guy who fired had hated him for years. There was a motive, opportunity, weapon, etc. The police STILL ruled it as accidental.

How do you hunters mentaly prepare yourselves to go in the woods alone, camp and hunt alone? Even if you paid me a million dollars to camp alone in the woods for one night, i would reject the offer.
For me i just try to not think about it after years of hunting you get use to being out there alone. But sometimes it’ll get to you like while you’re in the stand waiting for the sun to rise so you can see my 6th sense just will kick in and it feels like I’m being watched. Now is it my brain just making it up more then likely but you never know.
@@umeriqbal8269Things do get a little eerie at sundown sometimes, but it’s a huge difference when you have an intelligent dog with you. I’ve found dogs are almost always right. The amount of people that go to cabins and camping alone astounds me!!! No way would I go camping OR to a cabin by myself!!!
As a mr.nightmare og I can obviously say he has the best horror stories

As a mr nightmare og i can confirm these statement

Thanks to people who send him stories.
Really? “Obviously”? …because you’re an “OG”? You know that stands for original gangster, right? There’s not a single gangster bone in your body, junior. Oh, these kids…
Nearly a decade and Mr Nightmare is still the best horror channel. Nothing can change my mind.
It’s been that long already?! Damn 😮

I agree. After a number of years of listening to him exclusively for "Scary True Stories", I tried to listen to other channels for the same content, but quickly lost interest. There's just something about his videos that're so addicting, you'll never want to listen to any other channels with "Scary True Stories" ever again. And I know I'm not alone in feeling this way
I’ve been listening to your stories for a year now and they never get old! You have one of the best narration voices I’ve ever heard, it’s really relaxing
Can we stop with these over appreciating comments, we all appreciate him and his work but it would be nicer if the comments were discussing the stories and sharing experiences similar to what happened in the story, instead most of these comments here, 7 out of 10, are about HOW GRATEFUL you are, and he never fails to deliver, cmonnnn lets discuss the story and thank him once in a while.

Yeah. A large number of the original sources of these stories are lucky to be alive. Mr. Nightmare, your talent for reading these bone-chilling horror stories is simply incredible! Your narratives are so gripping and atmospheric, they manage to keep me on the edge of my seat until the very last word. Your ability to evoke fear and create a sense of dread is truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your terrifying stories with us!

I'm finishing up a movie right now that is very much inspired by the many stories of Mr. Nightmare we've all been lucky enough to hear over the years so thank you Mr. Nightmare!
That last story really tied this episode together, saved the best for last. He’s a brave one because i def would’ve tried to find another way out 😭
He always seems to save the best for last haha. I skim the comments when I start a video and usually the comments are all saying the last story was the best lol

Big W for Mr Nightmare for making good content for years
I would’ve never left my kid alone in a deer stand after hearing a scream!!
Right? Grandpa sounded like a dick
I was thinking bobcat or some other big cat, which would explain the 'human like scream' but other than that, yeah no thanks

Well, sounds like my wife is calling me for dinner. I'll finish my story later on.

Hunting too CAN be scary as hell by itself as sometimes accidental firing against fellow humans can occur, but even other humans hunt others for their own agendas.
Mr Nightmare definitely knows how to make us feel entertained, been his subscriber since day one.
That sounds better actually.
THIS ^. In the state where I live in, if you shoot someone during deer hunting season almost always they'll write it off as accidental. My dad had a colleague who was killed and the guy who fired had hated him for years. There was a motive, opportunity, weapon, etc. The police STILL ruled it as accidental.

The second story literally had me crying from fear.
As a hunter, I find these stories terrifying. Nothing has happened to me like this yet. And hopefully it doesn’t.
If they don’t seem worried, everything’s fine. If they are worried, stay alert. Things like wolves and bears will definitely get you if they got a good enough appetite, although extremely uncommon where I hunt.

That last story is nice but would have loved to hear a bit more about what that guy and girl looked like, did they make eye contact or not, what kind of expression was on their face and what type of clothes were they wearing.
The fact they didn't react makes me think that they weren't real. Or they were in a deep state of shock. I don't think they were the culprits but I think they saw something they really wished they hadn't.
My theory could be that they were taxidermied human beings that were planted there by someone.
@@PeruvianPotato omg that is terrifying

It’s been awhile since I’ve been actually creeped out by one of mr nightmares stories. Call it desensitization. That last one literally gave me the chills. Had goosebumps all over my arms. Man that is somethin else.
People criticize him for not posting more, but if you've ever had a course in sales/advertising you're taught to always leave the customers wanting more so i think it further shows his greatness. Why the NFL is so popular, yes theres A game on Mondays and Thursdays, but we get it half a year on Sundays and that's it, leaves us wanting more.
We can't deny just how creepy those woods are. Better be careful out there. You'll never know what's waiting for you.

Wild forests cover more than 700 million acres in the U.S. alone. Despite what people say, there’s still a lot about the world that we still don’t understand. The second and third stories are a reminder of that.
If there was a creature this tall on our planet and not in the ocean we would for sure know. Dunno what you people think but a satellite can identify a can on the road, but you still think we wouldnt know about a big ass horror creature attacking people. Yeah sure.
