Interesting to see the process. However I'd say for common coins its hardly wirth the effort (unless solely keeping for your own collection and like then shiny) and with anything potentially valuable doing that would drastically cut their value to a collector
I do this as I use the coins to play my fruit machines, the clean coins improves the acceptance rate and doesn't leave your hands dirty after playing the machines. You are correct this is only for low value coins as it does remove the patina.

Cleaning a coin drastically reduces its value I've been collecting for over 50 years and would not even look at a cleaned or polished coin.
