I don't think I ever realized how good the OG theme song was, and the entrance videos are nicely done for the time. Giving this one a shot!

I’m proud to be a part of the family who went out and bought this game. After WCW Nitro, and WWF Attitude, this was refreshing.

I worked at an import game shop near Baltimore, MD and someone who worked on this game used to come in a lot. One day he slipped me a burned disc of an early playable version, maybe a few months before it released. It surprisingly had the whole roster that made the retail version, but I'll always remember how weird it was that anyone who didn't have their finisher animated yet, like Jeff Hardy, just used a German suplex.

This game is what introduced me to WWF and made me start watching it. Thus becoming a fan
So this game has a very special place in my heart
But I must admit. After replying it again in 2018. It has aged badly but still has a special place in my heart

This 20plus year old game had more backstage options and more match types than the newest wwe 2k game. Let that sink in..

Okay, so I picked this up a few years ago and just kinda tired it up to test it, but didn’t spend too much time with it. I was hoping you were going to cover this game, so watching this is even more awesome right now personally! This game has WAY more depth to it than I was aware of, and this is totally awesome! I’ll definitely have to play this sometime soon! Thanks for the awesome in-depth coverage of this game!

Damn this brought back some memories! I'd only played Attitude before this came out, I remember getting the Demo with a PSX magazine and my first match I failed hard because it was so different to what I was used to lol. But I was blown away by how it looked and the fast pace. Sank so many hours into that season mode.

Its crazy to me that the modern 2K games, including the revamped 22/23/24 titles, still uses Yukes code that began with this game.

Having things like a ladder match, an actual Royal Rumble, having more than 4 wrestlers in the ring. These are all absolute game changera.
The finishers were so good here too. The only goofy thing I remember about the controls here was everyone had an option to catapult your opponent. A lot of times just off into nothingness

I went to a local gaming store in my community and tried it out. After five minutes of playing it, I immediately bought Smackdown! I remember when many WWF fans thought it was a big mistake for the WWF to leave Acclaim to have THQ & Yukes develop WWF wrestling games, as the WCW games were a disaster on PS1. But Yukes was a new gaming developer. After that, Yukes had great WWF/WWE games for many years. Smackdown 1 & 2 are the best wrestling games on PS1 in my opinion.

Hey man, love the channel, been getting back into old wrestling lately, complimenting it with your videos.
Really love the old wrestling game videos, was so obsessed with any new wrestling game when I was a youngster.
Will you be covering any of the overhaul mods for any games? Here Comes the Pain 2.0 is pretty neat, updated roster and added wrestlers. I doubt one could fill a video but maybe just take a look at a few for one? Just a thought.
    Cheers, take care.

A big reason Kevin Owens is one of my favorites is because his moveset is almost exactly the same as my created wrestler from this game, Big Poppa Punk. Visually, he was Raven with a kilt and green mohawk.

The thing that makes Smackdown's in-ring visual presentation so much better than War Zone and Attitude's is the variety of camera angles, and the lighting.
The lighting in Attitude and War Zone was very flat, with minimal cast shadows from a single light source; whereas Smackdown is rendering multiple cast shadows from various light sources - just how it is in an arena, along with core shadows and reflected light on the models themselves, which gives a more convincing and true to life appearance.

I remember playing smack down shut your mouth before I played this classic I got it a couple days ago and man its amazing how fun it is when it comes to the controls and gameplay I’m in year 12 of season mode with ministry undertaker and I see this as the best ps1 wrestling game because of how good the season mode and 1999 wwf roster which I prefer to smackdown 2 roster and this video is what got me interested in the game and is was worth the 20 bucks I spent to get it
