Hello Professor, I am a little confused with who is n and who is r. If n is the number of "things", then in the example of the 4 cars and 10 spaces shouldn't n be 4? Thank you.

5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1.
In 5!/3!, it is equal to (5x4x3x2x1) / (3x2x1) or you can write that as (5x4x3!) / 3!.
