Oh, he absolutely is - at least in my house! One of my 2 favorite artists ever, along with Stanley Kubrick... Kurosawa, Bergman and Welles are the only filmmakers even close to them, imo.
What a surprising list!! Love the enthusiasm and intelligence of your comments. My list: City of Women Fellini’s Casanova Juliet of the Spirits Toby Dammit 8 1/2 Nights of Cabiria Fellini’s Roma Amarcord La Dolce Vita Fellini Satyricon Probably in the above order. Some of these films shine for different reasons. None is perfect, but all offer absolute magical riches.
I'm one of those besotted Fellini fans who have all of Fellini's DVD's, and have watched them multiple times. I don't know what it is, but there's a kind of nostalgia.....as if all of his movies are scenes of my own life. And in a way, they are. Because I have spent so much of my life watching them! Part of the appeal is undoubtedly because I actually lived in Italy for two months.. I fell in love with Italy, so Fellini films are a way of keeping Italy in my life, even if I can't be there.
Thank you for the very lovely vid Luke!!! This is the first time I run into you for the first time. You are a sunshine! Your voice is soothing and your grace is contagious! Very charismatic boy. Very lucky I found you!
I just watched “Amarcord” last night, and I am in love! Watched La Dolce Vita for a film class last fall. Excited to watch more Fellini! LOVE this video, hope you make more! I’d be interested to hear about your favorite directors! Do you have a Letterboxd?? Thank you so much for this awesome video!
I'm so jealous of those experiencing him for the first time... I hope you watched _8 1/2_ & _La Strada_ next - his two greatest films, imo. But really you gotta see all of 'em... _Nights Of Cabiria, I Vitelloni, White Sheik,_ and _Juliet Of The Spirits,_ along with those you mentioned, are all among my favorite all-time films! _8 1/2_ is definitely Top 5 all time films for me. Pure magic!
I have a cat named Fellini and another named Giulieta. I'd call myself a fan. As much as I love to intellectualize Fellini's amazing films, each one I've seen takes me completely by surprise, effortlessly leaping over the barriers of my preconceptions and hitting me somewhere below the belt of my conscious mind. Like dreams. Like genius.
This is lovely, you are great at this! I’m about to watch And The Ship Sails On because it’s in the Criterion Box Set. Did you enjoy that one? I’ve heard a mix of reactions, but I aligned with your 10 so far so I’m curious of your opinion 🤓
I'm glad to hear you really, really enjoyed Juliet Of The Spirits - and even rank it higher than I might... it doesn't get enough credit. Same with Orchestra Rehearsal! Such a great, underappreciated film. Mine would look something like: 1) 8 1/2 2) La Strada 3) La Dolce Vita 4) Nights Of Cabiria 5) Amarcord 6) Juliet Of The Spirits 7) I Vitelloni 8) The White Sheik 9) Orchestra Rehearsal 10) ...And The Ship Sails On (several could have made my #10 pick - The Clowns, City Of Women, Toby Dammit, Casanova, Satyricon, Il Bidone, Variety Lights, etc... all his movies are immaculate)
🤣🤣🤣 You're not referring to the scene from _Annie Hall_are you??? That was what one of his characters said (an obviously lame character that he's mocking) Allen is a HUGE Fellini fan, and made many films that are directly inspired by his work.
I'm italian and Fellini is one of my favourite directors ever. Happy that he's still appreciated abroad!

i love fellini's perspective on cinema, 8 1/2 is absolutely amazing

13:03 Molto bene! 😘👌
Nice video! Fellini is my favorite director of all time! "8 1/2" and "Nights of Cabiria" are big movies for me.

My favorite Fellini films are La Strada, 81/2, The Nights of Cabiria and La Dolce Vita. Watching from the Philippines!

Complimenti Luke! Sei stato molto bravo a raccontare in pochi minuti, in modo corretto ed entusiastico, il mondo di Fellini.
I got down to #2 and thought wow, he’s going to make Roma #1 … fantastic! 😊
Film is literature.
Cinematography, editing and acting is poetry.
Beautiful review
There’s a deep, damning irony to Woody Allen calling Fellini “indulgent”
🤣🤣🤣 You're not referring to the scene from _Annie Hall_are you??? That was what one of his characters said (an obviously lame character that he's mocking) Allen is a HUGE Fellini fan, and made many films that are directly inspired by his work.
Casanova - can’t get enough no matter what language
Bravo, ottima analisi.
Ma hai dimenticato di nominare il miglior film di Fellini IL CASANOVA.
La strada is my all time favorite
It would be nice to know why "city of women" and "casanova" didn't make your list.
While I love them both - and basically all his films - those two don't make most peoples' Top 10 Fellini lists, actually.
great top :)
My favorite is La dolce vita, but I find the Anita Ekberg scenes some of my least favorite.
What is Evitalony? Some kind of lunch meat?
😍
