If you are in to Mark Rothko and want to see the 'first' Rothko play, RED ON BLACK by Andrew Bridgmont, produced in London in 2003, search "Red on Black. Bridgmont" and check it out. Bad quality picture but great performances!

Can you PLEASE clarify how you mixed that paint? Thanks!

Typiclly Rothko would mix his colors with lots of water. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the other layers of paint in the thinner areas

@@juliankrichel5920 Rothko painted in oil, which is not thinned with water. He would use turpentine.

Content is minimal: I know nothing more about Rothko than that he thinned his paint.

This video proves that anyone can paint rubbish like that.Do you need to be shown how to do that?I mean really a child of 8 could do that.I have seen Rothko reproductions for sale at £2.75 which is about right.Personally i wouldn't even give that for one.Someone is having a laugh not only Rothko.

@@kitswithkaren5003 Rude! Just because you don't like it or understand it, doesn't mean you have to be so ugly about it...it's way more than a child or anyone inexperienced in art, would be able to accomplish...

Watching people wave a brush is worthless: What red is that? Is it a red Rothko actually used? How do you know? Which Rothko painting are you trying to imitate. How do you know he thinned with water? As far as I know he thinned with terps , dammar varnish. It is also possible to thin with oil alone. Or combinations. If you are going to teach to “paint like Rothko” you better document how you know, where you got it from. He was secretive. He painted in layers. Did he paint in one shot. Or let the layers dry, or both? He clearly scraped down, and removed paint as well-used turpentine burn. This video leaves a lot to be desired.
