I've got a theory regarding this: On the steam page, it is mentioned that you'll have to "outlast the ravages of a warped world". This could mean a lot, though my interpretation is that the Void is destabilizing, and with it so is the world and potentially reality itself, which if the Watcher's campaign takes place after Saint, it could explain why the pole mimic is there despite going extinct by the time Saint's campaign begins.
personally i just think it is set way, way wAY after saint, so far that even the iterator structures have collapsed below the cloud layer and the world has recovered from the ice age, I.E why you cant see the iterator structures in one of the screenshots
