Your points are spot on, consulting is a revolving door! I actually have health problems that are forcing me to quit ! But consulting is sooo poorly designed, I also don’t give a shit about my job anymore lol.
It’s always the principals bidding the lowest they can to keep the lights on, it’s actually hilarious how poorly setup these consultants race to do cheap work. Im moving into data science / tech.
It can be really hard to switch to a new job, let alone a new industry! But if you start looking and putting yourself out there, opportunities really do come out of nowhere!
I am pavement engineer with a degree in civil and environment in Australia. I am thinking of changing to the environmental or project engineering line. But they are both similar in terms of some of the negatives you mentioned. I am not sure what to do? 😮 I am looking to apply a role in Jacobs here, but not sure between the two.
Wow. I really needed this. I am tired of environmental consulting as a Geochemist and want to explore new career path/different industry. It may also be my health pushing me to want to change this career but I don't know how to leave/what work I will do if I leave😢. Any advise? Thanks!
I'm so glad it helped you!! My advice is to not be afraid of being a beginner and having to reset your career. Many of us get the "sunk cost fallacy" and think about how much time we invested into a career and let that keep us from starting over in a new one. Its not worth being miserable forever!
Did you experience that level of time micro tracking in one organization? Or multiple? That is insane. I work as a consultant and I've hired consultants and I never would I ask someone for that level of detail, and I've successfully told my clients I'm not giving them that level of detail.
Are you thinking of leaving your current position? What industry are you working in?
I'm an ESG analyst for an environmental consultancy, and hating it. Would you recommend going into advertising as a key account manager

I definitely got to that point too, not caring at all, and then my performance got worse and my managers got upset 😭
@@alekw7611 data science was something i was thinking of moving into too!!
@@hachimama Any solid leads or direction for where to go from here?

Its a hard choice! Never forget that you can and should change if you find one way isnt working for you!

Is environmental consulting that bad ? I’m scared Bc I might be one
It totally depends on your firm, but it can be.
All 5 firms Ive been with were asshole penny pinchers
