Players like Neymar, Ronaldinho, Arsenal’s Pepe, Robinho and CR7 do stepovers virtually EVERY game, especially the likes of Robinho and the legendary Denilson. When done with every other touch it isn’t necessarily to try to break the game, it’s simply expressive football, like in real life. Stallion’s clearly not a fan and I suppose that’s fair. Not everyone wants to watch or play “clean” football, some want a bit more flair.

I'm a relatively new player and hardly use my right stick mostly because I don't know many skill moves or cannot justify using them (yet) in the situations I find myself in so I'm forced with a passing play game style with the occasional fake shot. These restrictions force creativity. EA's concept of creativity is overload the game with skill combos and change them every year which is very flawed (for example, chess doesn't "evolve" with new rules - there's endless creativity within a limited set of rules). If this game has to evolve, it has to converge on what those limited rules/constraints are and perfect them.
Reason why ppl do it is because passing and first touch passes don’t exist bcuz they are inconsistent but most broken through balls do work smh. Also the AI is overpowered and track anything and pressure anything possible bcuz the defending AI do a lot but why tf is the jockey button so fast? Jockey needs a major nerf, swear that button gives boost for bad mistakes to recover off and chase down a player and also the Attacking AI is brain dead. A guy can pull 3 defenders and team press and your attacking AI would literally run into circles not knowing where to go

Well, these step overs are not really “brain dead”, for a lot of people unfortunately. They give a huge acceleration boost to win space even more quicker and its more difficult to tackle a guy doing this move. Problem is that the meta is build up so slow and defensive, that these skill moves are often the only way to get space.
Doing step overs actually have helped me win games , I don’t play drop back or 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2 or 4-4-2 or any sweaty tactics so doing step overs actually help me win games against people who have varane Mendy and icon cb

He chooses to play this way because it will give him an advantage without doing things that are hard. Its impossible to judge if he is good or not, since everyone can learn how to do those things without much practice, easy to learn and easy to master. You can ofc judge him from a moral standpoint. Thats not true at all. Look at a replay after you do any stepover. You get s speed boost and ai defenders glitch out and dont track players. Its simply an abused glitch

He does a stepover every time a new player gets the ball. Hes won 300 in a row. He isnt doing the stepover for the hell of it. It glitches the opponent ai every time.

Most player's "killer passes" are literally because the AI made it work for them in a situation it wouldn't have otherwise. Making the game slightly less frustrating for the average player, but a hell of a lot less competitive at the same time. PES is a much better football simulator given it's higher skill ceiling approach with manual controls. As they collect more licence's (already possessing Juventus) I can see more people moving towards that game if EA insists on pushing the same formula out.
@@frontierwingsix so many times ive done a "full" bar pass only for them to pass it 2meters nowhere near any player then other times ive literally taped the button for them to completely switch it across the pitch with the player i intended the pass for to jump over it even though they're central box completely clear of defender. Sometimes the passing just doesnt make sense in this game but other times it'll do godsend passes you didnt even want to happen but it gives you a clear chance on goal. They need to completely remove the "assisted" aspect in the competitive gamemodes because when you watch the game replays you'll see it lock on to the person you want to pass the ball to then right at the last second the game is like nah thats not who you want, this guy standing next to 2defenders is who you want to pass the ball to. Its just completely infuriating and some games feels like the AI is working against you but the benefits of the assisted just far outweigh the negatives (since everyone is playing that way) so you have to just play with it.

man you are right about the things you are talking about i have to admit that i am from the players that play with step overs(50 step overs seems not that much for me i use even more)i use them from fifa 20 is the only skill move that i noticed is so op without watching any video or tip etc. i started using it in fifa 20 it was super op. The problem about this is up to ea and after this is up to the people who are spamming it.Even pro players are playing with it there is no way to avoid it.Ea actually nerfed everything there's not anything else to use and get rewarded by it(thats why people are spamming it). Same here,i play a possesion passing football but when i'm at last third of the pitch it's almost Impossible to penetrate the defense because 90% of the people use 1 width and the attackers and midfielders don't make runs....

Only reason why I do stopovers is because the left stick dribbling is garbage and elasticos aren’t as effective as last year. I use stepovers to create separation and I mainly use them when I’m back to goal and I need a boost to get away from a defender
Stepovers is the new drag back, if you predict where they are going with the step over, you may get the tackle but the way the step over works is that it provides a boost while protecting the ball and if you have a player with decent strength like Ronaldo, Rashford. Sad thing is that they said they nerfed it. One thing that needs to be nerfed is Team Press, that’s a bigger issue than the stepovers

It’s just a step over competition these days, the main reason I won’t play online anymore it’s just not a game of football. Should be able to have a setting where skill moves are disabled or have a limit per game for example 4 or 5 (the amount I’d expect to see in a top end football match).
What they need to do is increase the stamina drain exponentially for each stepover, as well as many other of the skill moves. I know it drains now, but now enough to discourage spamming of it. There also needs to be an RNG that adds a pecentage chance of a poor touch that sends the ball in the wrong direction during a skill move.

The main thing that has to be done is removing any speed boost related to skill moves (like the bridge) and make left stick dribbling and sprinting the fastest way to move around. There would be no point in spamming stepovers if they weren't giving faster acceleration than simply running with the ball.

yes, you can score them (cross, corners) on the subject of long range not like fifa 11, 12 to 19 (oh how i miss those days) but you can finesse shot, best i have done is 29 yards, how i miss the dipping longshots from 45yards though.

Anyone have any tips for breaking down 9 ment behind the ball!? Managed to get to 2100 skill rating last night (I know it's nothing to brag about) but it's all I've faced and just can't seem to break people down consistently feel like I sometimes get a lucky pass through any help with tips would be greatful

While I play some beautiful football and try to tackle by trying to guess which side you’re going to go with a single tackle, my friend is spamming that tackle and all I can hear that tap tap tap it’s so frustrating, that’s something that could be fixed with timed tackle ! If you tackle within a certain milliseconds timeframe one tap should cancel the other so players can stop that crap ! It’s like me on a battlefield vs someone at a same proximity range and I have a sniper and the enemy have a machine gun ! My chances are drastically reduced due to spamming that requires no skills! And that’s what makes it suck! No skills required!

The glory of playing these bellpieces Is that when they try to scare you and do rabonna rainbow flicks on the halfway line every 2 minutes and then you press them in numbers and crunch through them over and over you can litteraly feel and smell thier brain melting with depression as there is no other option conbeiveable when this doesn't work.sometimes they blitz you I. The first half when you end up dizzy and all over the place by surprise but then you come out in the second half and charge them down all over the pitch they fall apart and you beat them quite funny

Personally I play in a way that is very similar to your game style stallion ( of course I am not as good as you are ) and I believe that fifa 17 was the best game in terms of the construction of the action. As a purist, the real beauty of this game is passing, movement, dragging players out of position and etc. Genuinely, when I come across a player who plays as I do, which involves moving the ball quickly, manually directing players, and creating space, I feel at ease: the game is competitive, there's a modicum of skill at play, and I appreciate the thought that my opponent puts into attacking and defending. Games are cordial. I don't become irate. And when I lose, I accept it with some grace. But when I match up against some two-bit step over merchant with an Everton badge slung over the home fans in the FUT Arena, I am like, do one, lad - you bad meff. And when the c**t does me in the box with four step overs, three drag-backs, and a Kung-fu-style roundhouse, nah, not having that. It's absolute garbage. It's not even vaguely reflective of actual football. Even in his prime, the master of the step over, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima only pulled it out of his locker once in a while. Ok, but step over gives you better control on the ball for essentially no price. It's a good habit to have this FIFA. It's like fake shot on ball reception in penbox. Simply a safe"go to" move that gives you time for actual decision. To me it's actually how shielding should work.

It's not a football simulator. It's too arcadey, assisted and unrealistic in certain situations to ever come close to being a simulation of football.

The problem about this is up to ea and after this is up to the people who are spamming it.Even pro players are playing with it there is no way to avoid it.Ea actually nerfed everything there's not anything else to use and get rewarded by it(thats why people are spamming it). Only reason why I do stopovers is because the left stick dribbling is garbage and elasticos aren’t as effective as last year. I use stepovers to create separation and I mainly use them when I’m back to goal and I need a boost to get away from a defender

FACTS... Step overs and ball rolls is just unbelievable
Stepovers is the new drag back, if you predict where they are going with the step over, you may get the tackle but the way the step over works is that it provides a boost while protecting the ball and if you have a player with decent strength like Ronaldo, Rashford. Sad thing is that they said they nerfed it. One thing that needs to be nerfed is Team Press, that’s a bigger issue than the stepovers

It’s just a step over competition these days, the main reason I won’t play online anymore it’s just not a game of football. Should be able to have a setting where skill moves are disabled or have a limit per game for example 4 or 5 (the amount I’d expect to see in a top end football match).

What they need to do is increase the stamina drain exponentially for each stepover, as well as many other of the skill moves. I know it drains now, but now enough to discourage spamming of it. There also needs to be an RNG that adds a pecentage chance of a poor touch that sends the ball in the wrong direction during a skill move.

The main thing that has to be done is removing any speed boost related to skill moves (like the bridge) and make left stick dribbling and sprinting the fastest way to move around. There would be no point in spamming stepovers if they weren't giving faster acceleration than simply running with the ball.

yes, you can score them (cross, corners) on the subject of long range not like fifa 11, 12 to 19 (oh how i miss those days) but you can finesse shot, best i have done is 29 yards, how i miss the dipping longshots from 45yards though.

If you have tried playing football you will know how tiering it is to drible, and they should add the fact that players get drained and more tired muuuch faster if they drible.. for every drible there should be like a small amount of energy loss...
Anyone have any tips for breaking down 9 ment behind the ball!? Managed to get to 2100 skill rating last night (I know it's nothing to brag about) but it's all I've faced and just can't seem to break people down consistently feel like I sometimes get a lucky pass through any help with tips would be greatful

While I play some beautiful football and try to tackle by trying to guess which side you’re going to go with a single tackle, my friend is spamming that tackle and all I can hear that tap tap tap it’s so frustrating, that’s something that could be fixed with timed tackle ! If you tackle within a certain milliseconds timeframe one tap should cancel the other so players can stop that crap ! It’s like me on a battlefield vs someone at a same proximity range and I have a sniper and the enemy have a machine gun ! My chances are drastically reduced due to spamming that requires no skills! And that’s what makes it suck! No skills required!

Personally I play in a way that is very similar to your game style stallion ( of course I am not as good as you are ) and I believe that fifa 17 was the best game in terms of the construction of the action. You were able to get goals in many ways and skills very definitely more realistic ( exception made for the berba-spin). I despise the step over. As a purist, the real beauty of this game is passing, movement, dragging players out of position and etc. Genuinely, when I come across a player who plays as I do, which involves moving the ball quickly, manually directing players, and creating space, I feel at ease: the game is competitive, there's a modicum of skill at play, and I appreciate the thought that my opponent puts into attacking and defending. Games are cordial. I don't become irate. And when I lose, I accept it with some grace.
But when I match up against some two-bit step over merchant with an Everton badge slung over the home fans in the FUT Arena, I am like, do one, lad - you bad meff. And when the c**t does me in the box with four step overs, three drag-backs, and a Kung-fu-style roundhouse, nah, not having that. It's absolute garbage. It's not even vaguely reflective of actual football. Even in his prime, the master of the step over, Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima only pulled it out of his locker once in a while. Ok, but step over gives you better control on the ball for essentially no price. It's a good habit to have this FIFA. It's like fake shot on ball reception in penbox. Simply a safe"go to" move that gives you time for actual decision. To me it's actually how shielding should work.
